This video proves the point that you should never just start the engine and leave it in full neutral. One should rev the engine a little bit, so the alternator actually makes power. Now the engine is using power, hence the pumping of the revs.
@marcowitkamp you should read up what a diesel is and what principal it works on. a diesel doesn't need any "power" ac/dc wise to run, no spark plugs no nothing hand cranking would give the same result reving an engine up is bad in any circumstance except minus temps (C) perhaps, if a gas engine can't manage to keep ignition up after it is running its just bad design. this is a diesel..... hear the knock ^^

im new to diesel so why was the rpm going back and forth lik that is it just because its cold?
