Why do they call it a high speed camera if its slow motion?

Thing is, a high speed camera doesn't shoot "in slow motion". It captures the action in real time like anything else, it just captures a TON of individual frames per second (thousands vs like 24-30 for a normal camera).

If you slow down a normal camera even a bit, you end up with something which looks very jumpy. But if you slow down a high speed camera, it still looks like continuous video (cause there are just so many moreframes in there). You need that to make slow motion.

You need a special camera... not an over the counter type. From quick Google search, an example of a company that sells such a thing is "Photon Lines". A regular video camera usually shoots around 24-30 frames per second (fps), while one of these cameras may shoot around 1000-5000fps.
