Blue Oyster Cult needs to something very special for the 40th anniversary i mean 1972-2012, new album and a world tour, They are relevant again since all the kids aged 16 to 25ish are digging the band again thanx to Supernatural and That 70s Show, take advantage, and go out with a bang not a whimper.
@SgtCrom Feel the same dude Pink Floyd is boring ass music Its fucking shit i dont care if people give me shit but i will take Blue Oyster Cult and Chuck Berry any day over that lame as fucking hippie fest shit. This Aint the summer of love epitomizes my feelings for Pink Floyd in every way.
@hambone9119 one reason i like John Lydon (aka 'Johnny Rotten') is because he is quoted as saying he'd walk around london with a t-shirt stating "PINK FLOYD SUCKS". now i think thats a little strong, but i understand the context - its frustration. yes, give me Rush, BOC, et al before floyd. floyd's best stuff has been KILLED by radio over time, anyway.
@hambone9119 Hey, that's cool. I have all of BOC's albums up to Mirrors, and I'll eventually get the ones after that. Anyway, you can't compare BOC with Pink Floyd, as they are two wildly divergent styles of music. But it's good to know that there are congenial fans such as yourself which is not surprising, as I interviewed the band and they were all interesting and nice as hell.
@hoibsh wow that is sweet you interviewed Boc right on man. Hope they Come To Australia soon. And Really love to hear a new album, it means they would potentially tour here,
Weird how people can't distinguish between Buck's and Eric's vocals. They don't sound similar at all, Eric's vocals are much rougher, rock 'n roll sounding whereas Buck is smoother. This is obviously Buck...
Just a crying shame that America has lost it's taste for good rock n roll music. And it's a crying shame that this band that still plays and tours and is so original is so underappreciated.
Bahahahaha wow, Kelsey Grammer and Higgins from magnum P.I. I haven't lol'd that hard in a while, especially when i go back and compare the faces again hahahahahah!
Buck had SoL in his own personal catalog for a long time, just after RevByNight I believe. SoL might have been the one that could have pulled them back up following Albert Bouchard's departure and the shocking decline (quantatively and qualatatively) that followed. SoL is as good if not better than the best of CNinja (Perfect Water) and might have put BOC back on the charts then when they still had a profile. PS - BOC was offered 'Run to You' by Bryan Adams in 1983--84 but declined it.
Honestly, I have a hard time distinguishing between Eric and Buck sometimes... I'm pretty sure this is Eric singing this, but what about Out of the Darkness? Is that Buck or Eric?
They're simply the best Sci-Fi/ Horror/ Romantic/ Literary Rock Band in the World. They enjoy themselves & ourselves in a clever & dark way. That's all...we just can love them...
What a cool front cover for this record! It recalls the early days of 1974 with SECRET TREATIES. The front cover was so arcane...who could really understand it? Oh, and by the way, the song is great, too!
So, is Buck the only one who sings in Blue Oyster Cult now? He's good and all but how can they keep the Blue Oyster name without any of the other great singers. That would be like Lyndsay Buckingham going solo and calling himself Fleetwood Mac without the other members.
Yes, Eric's Burl Ives wheeze is on at least 7 of the tracks. If you listen to him at his vocal peak (1980-1982) and now, it should be a warning to all youngsters who are considering singing to take care of your voice: don't smoke (anything), don't be around smoke, and actually 'sing' and not make up for a lack of vocal power by growling and shredding your voice box.
It's all about what caring about your profession; listen to how good Roeser sounds, then listen to Bloom, enough said.
As a fan of Cult's since '76 and who can't decide which of 20 or 30 of their tunes is my favorite, I'd like to declare this to be one of their best tunes ever. That they were putting out stuff of this high quality 29 years after their first album is more than enough to qualify them for the apparently brain-dead R&R Hall of Fame. Somebody tell me what band has done this. I mean, please.
I agree 100% man! I mean, seriously, Madonna? These guys are some of the best, if not THE best songwriters, They've been giving class A records and music for over 30 years, and they put Madonna in before them, not just before, but they actually put her in period and these guys ain't in. But great song and thanks for the post!
Kick ass!

Buck actually wrote this song in the 80's. That amazes me because it sounds so modern, as if it was written in the current decade.

but the comments about Kelsey Grammer

and Higgins from Magnum P.I. pulling
him really got me laughing and when I
looked closely I could see both comments were correct. Hilarious!
