I think the world should leave Burma alone. Let them deal with the problem themselves. We should only help them if they want help. Those online donations are futile. Don't even bother throwing your money away.

Im saying that because look how we handled Katrina. There are ulterior motives for the US to "help" Burma and it's not to establish relations. It took weeks to respond to Katrina and only a few days for aid to arrive in Burma? Burma does not want help. We should trust the Burmese government as a nation to let them empower themselves to take care of their own people. How would we feel if Mexico forced it's "help" into New Orleans? I'm not cold, you're just closed minded.

I can only attribute statments such as these to those that have never crossed cultural lines and rendered help to those in need. I've been to Burma nine times and every time I've helped them out in one way or another. If this person feels donating would be 'throwing your money away' then I would like to see how he's spent his money on him/herself. Such mentally indignant people like him/her are the reason its so hard to get people to lend their hands and their hearts. I pity them.

you assume I have not crossed cultural lines? based on what may I ask? The Burmese government already announced that they do not need help. There is no point in forcing help onto them or donating money where they will never see it. The problem with this video and your post is that you are assuming that Burma needs it. They want to deal with it themselves, let them. You don't see the US forcing help onto the Chinese during the devastating earthquake do you? I wonder why... Think before you post.

You say "Burma" as though the governement (or military junta) and the peoples wish for a free life are one in the same. You couldn't be more clearly in error. I have, in fact, visited Burma nine times in the past 24 months. I know first hand. Do you?? The people need the help and want the help. Its their military government who has a strong control over the people of Burma that do not want the help. If they let in outsiders it will only confirm the horrific conditions in which they live.

you are right. We'll help Burma right after we "help" Iraq and Iran. Don't worry, we will help the entire world. Isn't it ironic that you are speaking about military governments? You know first hand how bad it is? Good for you. You are welcomed to donate your whole life savings in your cause. Just don't expect other American with their own problems at home to sympathize with you and your super hero agendas. Our own people need help and want help. Doesn't it make sense to take care of things here

I pity your soul. To even have a discussion with someone that thinks giving aid to other humans in crisis has borders for which they can't cross shows how f**ked up some people really are. Don't worry, I'll pick up your tab. Just as I've always done for people like yourself. Not a problem and I don't really care. Just knowing I can make a difference REGARDLESS of who the recipient is of good will comforts my heart. Don't think for a moment that you help make this world go 'round. You don't.
