He's not even "trying hard" to sing! It comes VERY natural to him! You can tell just by listening to this version of the song!

BOTH Nsync & BSB's version are good! Even if lyrics in a song are quite simple, it's all in how the singer decides to carry the tune. In this case, Nsync's version works well for a "light happy go lucky feeling", while the BSB version gets you to slow down and stop & think for a bit!

I think the chorus and the melody to the song is the same as BSB's, but the lyrics are different, no? I like the harmonizing they do at the beginning, but I prefer BSB's version to this song, the studio version, not performance one). The choreography is corny and JC is a little too into it. He's still my fave 'N Syncer though. :-)
