It's kind of depressing that nowadays mainstream rap is still in the same rut of continuing to glorify extreme violence and misogyny. Whatever happened to optimism, respect and just having a good time?
@pgubb1 and then they follow " A&R Men sign groups like them" Q Tip "Cause that's where the money's at honey" " The industrys filled with copycats RNB mixed with sloppy raps. Tribes like us always open doors but what for,so you can get yours?" I think I know a diss when I hear one.

i just copped the dopest book, HOW-TO-RAP - A Tribe Called Quest's Q-Tip & Phife both sat down with the author and gave a ton of really great info in that book, talking about classic tracks and everything
Latifah's voice is featured in the background of this song, that's why Vlash may have been confused. However she is not featured in this video like she was in De La's "Buddy"! And that is Monie Love in this video rhyming however, so you both were right!
@Vlash It's definitely Monie Love, trust me on that one. Queen Latifah had an entirely different sounding voice even back then. I've seen this video countless times on various music programs on TV years before YouTube. The info and video posted on Discogs is wrong too. I'm really not sure where people started thinking it was Queen Latifah. It even makes sense it's Monie Love as this is technically a Native Tongues posse track and Monie Love was in Native Tongues.
@teemad Well, I'll just take your word for it. I'm unfamiliar with everyone but Latifah, so I'm sure you're right.
But you really don't think the vocals at 1:15 sound like Queen Latifah? When I first saw this video, I was sure they just took a sample of her voice or something and put it into this song. I mean, she has collaborated with Monie Love twice (I think, maybe just once [or more]) so that's why I assumed it was her voice.
@Helljohny jungle brothers, de la soul, TCQ, public enemy, Rakim, Gangstarr, were some of the best pioneers in hip hop histroy along with sugar hill gang, and epmd.
@junglegeorge88 It didn't really end then, but the mainstream hip hop moved from the old school, as well as most of the artists. Everyone is calling whatever old for "old school". No need to rage on that dude.
Check out my you tube page, it's a video of my friend in our crew and he's an amazing singer! Check out both videos! I'm the rapper But there's only videos of him for now. comment and subscribe!

People say Kanye West is a genius. I disagree.
He only brings up to the modern hip hop something that has been forgetten: the f*** melody.
