  • Mass Effect 2 , bests Sci-fi game EVER!

  • i really love will wheaton comments .... its just the same way i feel about this game

  • i hope bioware somehow. decides. that after ME3. it's time to bring commander shephard back for a ME4 even though they say they won't i hope they choice otherwise

  • @gmodzombieteam nah they will definatlly make another mass effect game but without commander shepard

  • Watch footage from the Naked Lady Gaga shoot and check out the topless shoot -Naked Lady Gaga. NET -

  • You know what? Bioware needs a Nobel Peace Prize for this game. Video games need a Nobel Peace Prize, and this is what will take it.

  • This is the best galaxy imagination ever and i wish it was real minus the reapers.

  • WHEEEEEEEEATON!!!!!!!!!

hurray for big bang theory references

  • Does The Game actually play games or did he do this just for some money?

  • 6 peoples days were ruined by Shepard.

  • I would drink casey hudsons pee

  • @dalbalt Dude, wtf

    So would i

  • SHUT UP, WESLEY!

  • lol at 4:17 i thought shephards pull power teared that person apart

  • The thing that makes Mass Effect better than Star Wars and Star Trek (IMO, at least) is how you are changing the galaxy by the choices you make, making it a more personal experience. Will you save the Council? Will you kill Wrex? Will you hold onto the Collector Base or destroy it? The choices are what make it truly unique.

  • @BearFang666 I love how you can compare vast galactic consequences to saving the life of a krogan mercenary. (Even though I agree with everything you said, this still made me lol.)

  • Bioware is possibly my favorite developer!!

  • Wesley!

  • is there a german version?

  • Where is female Shepard? :(

  • @Conchobhar HELL YEAH! Male Shepard is a poser.

  • holy crap, Tricia Helfer!

Mass effect is my second favourite SCI-FI coming up behind battlestar gallactica.

  • Mass Effect is my generation's Star Trek, and I sure hope it lasts just as long.

  • @MarzX1802 They're only making one more game based on this cannon, but I hope they make more that takes place in this universe.

  • @Baz0kable Maybe an RTS? Or a MMORPG where you can play as a hanar!

  • @Baz0kable they said ME3 will be the last in Shepards story but more games will be maid in the Mass effect universe

  • @ilboche Yeah most definitely. The books are great too and have nothing to do with shepard.

  • @MarzX1802 you are right lets hope we have mass effect for a really loooooong time

  • @MarzX1802 The Original Star Trek was only on for 2 years.

  • @ThicknSwift Yeah but that was during the 60s and their still making stuff in the Star Trek universe

  • @MarzX1802 well considering there will only be 3 games...i don't think it will...they're great games though!

  • @jesup25 No, they're continuing the series after ME3. That trilogy will just be the end of the Commander Shepard story.

  • @MarzX1802 oh...wait where did you hear that?

  • @MarzX1802 That's cute.

  • @crazy4sian I can't tell if you agree with me or are making fun of me.

  • @MarzX1802 I said it's cute because you believe something as new as this will eventually become as historical as the Star Trek universe. I can see it happening, don't get me wrong, and I see great potential for this franchise in the future. Possible, but unlikely. On the same note, to me, that's like an eight year-old kid saying he'll become the next Beethoven just because he's joined a downtown symphony orchestra.

Then again, I'm a stranger. Does it really matter?

  • @crazy4sian Well we'll just have to see. But you're right there is great potential for the franchise to continue but it would need to be expanded beyond games.

  • @MarzX1802 Exactly. There are already books and an animated film in the making. If fans truly love and support it, then it may survive for another decade or two before the company or a different company decides to make another "Mass Effect" in the series. Who knows, maybe a sequel with a different Commander (i.e. Shepard:New Commander :: Kirk:Picard)?

  • @crazy4sian And also, I said that I hope it will become as popular as Star Trek, I didn't say that it definitely would.

  • @MarzX1802 Sometimes hopes and beliefs cross paths and become one and the same.

  • Can technology be used to energize the story telling process?

    Call Bioware.

To make a personalized and true to life dramatic experience?

    Call Bioware.

How do you create the illusion of free-will with a fixed ending?

Call Bioware. How do you create a compelling storyline when the audience controls the narrative?

    Call Bioware.

    How do you-

    Lady just call Bioware. :D

  • @coldshoulder14 another great canadian developer

  • @coldshoulder14 phone number please?

  • @enterprise0709 Look it up. :3

  • Biggest flaw of ME2 was it's length. Everything else was great, but to center the story about finding a new team member, then going through the loyalty mission with each one of them to go for the first and last mission together.

That's what I missed in ME2 - longer story, a bit more dispersed in the verse and from the final mission.

  • @b3ckett Yeah, though this is definitely the premise for a great ending (ME3) this way you don't need to focus on characters as much as you would. This game was kind of about characters and advancing into the galaxy. In ME3 they won't have to worry about making as many characters but just a few. The story did not suck AT ALL... just compared to the original it lacked..

Mass effect 3 will bring everything together and I bet Bioware has great things in store for the story. :D

  • @coldshoulder14 : That's what I'm hoping for. Enough with introducing new characters (well, apart from another new Shepard if he died in ME2) and solely focusing on the story.

It's their moment of truth. ME1 and ME2 succeeded in builing the momentum up. Now it's all up to ME3 and the epilogue. And they damn better deliver, 'cause I'm going through ME1 and ME2 just before ME3... :)

  • @b3ckett Yeah I'm playing through them both, doing all the missions. This is the first game I've ever wanted to complete utterly and thoroughly.

Damn you Bioware for making a game I've invested over 100 hours in!! D:

  • @coldshoulder14 And the best part is that you'll do it all over again just to be prepared for multiple import saves just to check how it turns out in the end.

Like: A renegade Shepard could become the leader of the Reapers :D

  • @b3ckett God, you know... I just can't do renegade! (I mean like the killing innocents part, I can do the funny renegade stuff)

I can't go full renegade, it's just not in me. XD

I have a male and female shepard though. I'll be playing this game till I go to college. XD

Plus there's romances to account for also... though that should be easy.

Mine are Samara (if possible), Liara, Tali and Miranda...

Fem Shepard gets Garrus... cuz he's earned some peace... and he's my bro.

  • @coldshoulder14 I can't do fem Shepard's romances. If she was a bit more sluttish I might have tried that for fun. :P

I prefer Miranda and Ash - Liara was too much of a child to me. And a bit too blue:P)

If Tali's mask is removed in and I like - maybe I'll fancy her for a change

I totally agree with the renegade part - apart from looking badass, the important choices are a bit stupid and leave a bad taste in my mouth (feeling like a moron, not a badass) :) While the good choices are logical.

  • @b3ckett Yeah the Rachni choice? Completely obvious that we should save them. They'll be a huge asset in the war.

the Collector Base choice though.... could go either way.

  • @coldshoulder14 : As an asset - yep, but a bit risky one (Few rogue ones and here we go again). The collector base - a problematic matter. From what I've heard, Shepard will have some issues with Cerberus in the final installment. Maybe because of either destroying the base (well that pretty well looks like a resignation) or disapproving their methods of salvaging it...

  • me1 and me2 are the 2 best games i have ever played thumbs up if you agree

  • @Sinekyre14 get a life, are you seriously arguing about a video game...

  • @Sinekyre14 you need to shut the fuck up

  • @Sinekyre14 TROLL

  • Mass Effect 2 Art of the game documentary. check it out

  • defiantly agree that mass effect is the perfect balance between RPG and shooter. in my opinion its the best RPG of all time and definitely in my top 3 shooters list.

  • @Zer0nite oh yeah hes golden gloves fursure lol.

  • 0:17. Look at Thane's hand speed. Mofo can BOX!

  • Guysseriously, I agree with you. Mass Effect 2 was better as a shooter(and overal gameplay too.), but not as great when came to stories and RPGS. So you grap infamous characters, do their favor, and finish one mission; that was pretty much all me2 story was about. They should have melted character interaction and personality along the main story plot like me1, not overshadow it.

  • They better not make it anymore of a shooter or else it wll lose what makes mass effect great. I think looking back Mass effect 1 was flawed when it came to combat but its the characters and story which made people love it.

  • Casey Hudson looks stressed

  • 4:22 Is he mocking Dragon Age?

  • this game is soo much deeper than ppl realize... theres alot more truth to it... i just wish ppl would open thier eyes to it...

  • Using Cryo Blast on a still shielded/armored Ymir Mech ? Who let that guy play the game ? :-D

Anyway, ME2 - one of the best games I ever had the pleasure of playing. Several times.

  • Mass Effect: definitely must become a movie =D

  • @SergeantBeans it will. legendary pictures who made 300 are signed up

  • @SergeantBeans a Saga at least 10 films to explain all the plot

  • @SergeantBeans IT WOULD BE THE BEST MOVIE EVER.

  • God, I wish Fox didn't try and murder Mass Effects love interest options. It's just not fair...

  • @heavell99 I agree. It isnt fair how this form of media is being criticized for what a bit of making out. Really its a game and 2 did suffer in that area for it.

  • 5:00

"You know why you're shooting who you're shooting"

Um, no, I always wondered why I kept encountering the EXACT SAME mercenary groups on ALL the side missions. They are always enemies, yet they don't factor in the plot AT ALL.

  • Someone doesn't know how to read dialogues.

  • @ILOVETODANCELOL

So, are you telling me that it's explained that in EVERY SINGLE side mission why the EXACT SAME mercinaries are there? um,...no. Trust me. thats why I play the game, for story.

  • If you're not clever enough to figure it out by simply playing the game, why would I lose my time with you?

  • @ILOVETODANCELOL

Do you mean waste time? Anyway, you've already done that, but it's your problem. Goodbye.

  • @Jammed9000 actually they really did go in depth on the mercenary groups and no they arent the same there is three bloodpack, blue suns, and eclipse. So you might wanna check that out next time you play.

  • @RE0514

I know there is three. It's just I never saw anything that explained them in depth. And yes I will play through again.

  • @xLanKx Not really, but I do think it stands shoulder to shoulder with them.

  • I'm Commander Shepard, and this is my favorite extranet vid on the Citadel.

  • id love to c bioware do another d and d game like neverwinter nights with the mass effect look and gameplay approach

  • @wertsith dragon age much?

  • @MLGplasmamonkey ah lol thats true but fun as da is, the combat could really use a boost, a bit more hack and slash. for me it felt a little too kotor ish.

  • Bioware could practacly crap out some game and put it out on the market...

and it would still kick so much ass every1 would buy it

  • Question: What was the name of the author Adam Sessler mentions when referring to "high minded fiction"? I can't make it out in the video.

  • @CaptainBrawnson Issac Asimov

  • mass effect puts star trek and star wars into the ground

  • @xLanKx couldn't agree more.. sorry luke skywalker. :D

  • @xLanKx

only until the old republic comes out.

    bioware FTW

  • @icemoomoo At least it's it's own IP and their own idea and universe, unlike star wars

  • @xLanKx To be fair, Star Wars is more of a fantasy set in space than it is sci-fi. It has sci-fi elements, but that's about it.

  • @xLanKx For sure!!!!!

  • @xLanKx Dunno about that... it's the MODERN STAR WARS as far as I'm concerned... but just.. better. XD

  • @xLanKx star trek yes, star wars no.

  • Too right mate.

  • @xLanKx no, not star wars, even though im not a treky, i doubt the 4 years mass effect has been around, doesnt add up to 80 combined years of star wars and star trek

but i still love mass effect, its one of my favorite game series

  • @xLanKx I wouldn't say to the ground, Star Wars and Trek are a huge universe, Mass Effect has a lot of catching up to do.

  • videogames in the past have beenpercieved as pointless mind numbing violence, which isnt always true, either way this game is a huge step foreward

  • What a great documentary... I stand by what they say: "Games can be powerful and emotional and resonate with people the same way movies or television do."

  • lol 3.07. Leader of Axis of Anarchy from show "The Guild" . Felicia also has his babies.

  • The only two things I was dissapointed with ME 2 about was the Credit music was too short and there were not enough Hanar, apart from that damn it I cant wait for ME 3!!!!!!

  • @Hydra000001 I CAN'T FKN WAIT EITHER!!

  • @Hydra000001 I want Blasto in my crew next game damnit!!!!

  • This game is amazing. I'm about 13 hours in.

  • ea is some momey hogs.

they overprice evey single good game they make

  • Holy shit, Wil Wheaton.

  • i love bioware

  • @buzai12 You'd have to be a Reaper not to love them. :D

  • love mass effect

love it even more if EA didnt own it

  • i agree

  • It seems to me like Bioware is given full freedom. Most likely because they put out such high-quality work, EA won't even interfere. Which kicks ass.

  • @SpectreFTL i would agree but if you remember ME1 there was endless different weapons and armor, and on ME2 you have to pay for them as download content. sounds like EAs influence to me

ME2 also totally copied Gears of War's combat controls but that's not a bad thing

  • @Heatliex24 BioWare is still on the utmost forefront of DLC at this point. They used Dragon Age as a stepping stone, as it has expansion packs. ME2 is unmatched in the sheer amount of "true" DLC. Take the Firewalker DLC pack; MW2 releases only five maps (two of which are retakes, mind you) and charges $15. BioWare has released well over $50's worth of DLC for free. Katsumi's Stolen Memories is going to be well worth the appropriately-priced $7 charge. I look forward to it.

  • @SpectreFTL Bioware has released content that you already paid for when you bought the game as DLC. None of this is true DLC, it was all developed along side the game you fucking moron.

  • @Heatliex24 people were bitchin about the ME1 having too much inventory which was'nt a problem for me,but the only thing i wish ME2 had was a crouch buttom it just felt weird playing without one.

  • Hmm Ive never thought about this but can we go through the whole without activating grunt or legion?

  • No, because the primary objective in 90% of the game is Assemble the team, if you do not have the whole team you cant start the Suicide Mission.

  • actually yes you can

  • as I commented another video, although the game is great, I don't get the feeling my character is as custom as it became in ME1. I don't feel like growing/developing a char that much as mentioned in the vid.

  • The A.V. clubs guy's prototypical " long winded RPG backstory" sounds a lot like the premise of Dragon Age.

    lol'd

  • Wrong, the IFF is installed immediately after you return from the Derelict Reaper. The initial mission you attempt after installing it triggers the Collector attack on your ship, as soon as you click the map, Miranda calls you down and the team uses the shuttle to avoid causing issues in systems.

Immediately after the attack your shuttle is back on the Normandy and you are asked whether to build the team, or save the crew.

  • Played it five times already, going on six. I just finished a perfect play through on Insanity difficulty, saved the whole crew, everyone survived suicide mission, and beat the Reaper in only a few tries.

Tip for anyone after the flawless suicide mission and full crew, don't activate Legion until after you finish the game, if you do you have to do his loyalty mission which causes some of the crew to die in the Collector base.

  • @lgvereor Not true. You can activate him immediately after the Derelict Reaper, then talk to him and he immediately gives his Loyalty Mission. You have to do a single mission after the DR to get the Collectors attack the Normandy scene, so you can use Legion's Loyalty Mission for that. That way, you can head straight through Omega-4 after that scene, saving the crew in time, and still have a Loyal Legion.

That's what I did my very first time through. And I used Legion for my tech specialist.

  • Also, you don't have to have every single character Loyal to keep them all alive anyway (though I did my first time through anyway). You only have to have the ones you assign specialist roles to and a majority of the rest.

  • @XerBlade No, you do need to keep them all loyal depending on the difficulty, the higher the diffficulty the higher chance they can die, on Insanity they can still die even if loyal, where as on Veteran you can get away with no deaths as long as they are loyal.

As for doing Legion's mission right before, false, I tried that and I had crew members dead, though unimportant crew members like the CIC crew nonetheless.

  • @lgvereor You missed what I said entirely, didn't you? I explained that it is entirely possible to get Legion's Loyalty Mission out of the way before the IFF is ever active and before your crew ever gets abducted in the first place!

It is impossible to go to the Suicide Mission to begin with (EDI will not let you go through the Omega-4 relay if you try) until you have already completed at least one mission after the Derelict Reaper, so you just have to make Legion's mission that one mission.

  • @lgvereor this guy is wrong. Activate the geth after you finish all the other small quests. the anomalies and everything. And you can do his loyalty quest and still not have your crew die, and your squad members will all survive. Sentinel ftw.

  • not if you save his mission for last.

  • im frigen addicted to this game...i have to force myself to put down the controller even tho ive beat it twice already

  • Lol, I didn't recognize him at all until all of the sudden I looked down at the name and I was like OMG IT'S WIL FUCKING WHEATON.

  • dudes it's Wil Wheaton! from Star Trek next gen!

  • I love this game!! Good Job Bioware!!!

  • I liked the planet scanning and such... it was interesting to see the planets they came up with and reading the descriptions of the planets, etc... it gave the galaxy you were in a bigger feel to it.

  • Has Bioware ever made a game that wasn't totally awesome? Curse you 4rthur4elves, I was going to say excactly what you said.

  • @Username00071

    - Canadian games ftw? :P

Even better... I live IN Edmonton, Alberta... their HQ is here :) I pass by it on the bus everytime I go write an exam, hehehe.

  • @Username00071 I came from the future when you actually posted this, I've read it and then returned back to past to post it before you. lol

  • lolSessler.

  • Instant fucking classic.

  • If Bioware is reading this : Guys You've got everything right!!! Just reduce the need for planet probing in ME3 !! The gameplay, the storyline, the combat, the RPG elements, the conversation wheel improvement and even the celebrity video/trailers!! Just reduce the planet resource hunting !! ME2 is a legend in gaming!!!

  • i'd also suggest doing something with the hacking puzzles, either make them actually challenging or get rid of them. the hacks puzzles in mass effect 2 are so simplistic they're pointless.

  • I agree - or make more types of hacking puzzles. Still - I prefered the puzzles of ME2 over the hugely repetitious "move the pointer to the center" crap in ME1.

I stopped hacking lockers in ME1 simply because I hated doing those puzzles..after repeating them 100 times before!!!

  • oh, you must have played the PC version of ME1, the console puzzles on that were even simpler. but yeah, ME2's puzzles were just pathetically easy.

  • @TheSebulba1978

More RPG elements! Deeper conversations with support cast! Less Garrus calibrating!

  • Just finished! the game is absolutely fantastic - and i join you on your pov on resource gathering - though i consider it a mini game.

  • @BeingTheHuman Maybe it's his accent! :P

  • @scarey2k7

Yeah, or the fact he is a bad boy now. There is something about him though that makes him...well...hot.

  • OMG, Wil Wheaton was in "The Guild"!

  • is it just me, or does the chick who plays Miranda look identical to her video game counter part? lmao, the only other game i've seen that in is MGS with Hayter/Snake

  • yep, she was modelled off her

  • @ghostrj you mean Jess?

  • @meantrentgreen Most of the time they model the characters to look like the actors.

  • I feel genuine attraction towards Tali, a fictional, digital, alien character in the game. And am disgusted and appalled at myself for it.

  • Why be disgusted and appalled? Seriously?

Tali is...cute, sweet, smart, funny and yeah...shes a hottie even if you CANT see what she looks like.

  • No it's not about what she's like, its the fact that she isn't real. And I know this full well, but I don't care. I suppose i'm feeling what 12 year old girls feel towards Edward Cullen. Maybe it's the fact that every girl i know either has the intelligence, integrity and humility of a toothpick, or that the ones that have those traits also have boyfriends, but right now I am more attracted to a fictional character than to any real-world person I know. Something's not right here.

  • Actually, I wouldnt say that there was anything really wrong with it. Characters in Mass Effect are far and away far better defined than any other character whether from Anime or other video games. And Tali is one of the best characters, if not THE best, from Mass Effect series. So, I wouldn't be worried. Seriously. XD

  • Haha that's true. I guess it's not all that bad..

  • @BeingTheHuman I prefer Garrus myself! (Not in THAT way... ;D)

  • @scarey2k7

I dunno man. There is something about Garrus that makes him interesting in THAT way.

  • @gofojibwas Tali W00T W00T :P

I feel you though, the only hot girls in my class are idiot bimbos, and the ugly ones are the ones that excel at academics

  • Lol same here, I try not to put too much stock in looks but so far its been my experience that if she isn't good looking, she's most likely annoying as fuck to boot haha
