@Guy0006 Nope, they all wrok just fine. Under the loco you've got a switch for day time & night time running. Depending how it's set, as to which lower front light works. As per real thing.
@bbgunsrule324 Loco came from my local model shop. This is seen here working under control of Hornby's Elite DCC digital command unit. Loco has been fitted with a Lenz decoder. Loco will work on both normal DC control as well as DCC.
Quick question, I just purchased one of these and over some spots of tracks a red light flashes on the front of the engine, however the train doesn't slow down. Is this due a to dodgy connection or something else?
@12yearoldNFSMWDK Could be down to dirty track or wheels or pickups?? I had another loco do what your experiencing, found that a good clean up of the wheels etc, sorted it.
Thanks for the advice, I'll give it a clean. Funny thing is though I only got it friday and it doesn't do it in the same spot, it'll do it once, and then go over the same spot with no warning light. Sometimes it'll do a full circuit with no light showing. Its very strange. Anyways, fantastic loco, I have it the GBRf livery.
@12yearoldNFSMWDK Sounds like one of my loco's, has a mind of it's own that thing!! lol. GBRF nice :-) Next thing on the cards, for my Bachmann 66's is to get a sound decoder fitted in them....send all dontations to P.O.Box i'm skint!! Good loco's though. On my fleet of 66's i have this one in the video, EWS/DB (X2), Freightliner, & GBRF. Be good if Bachmann did the 59 as well, till then i'll make do with my Lima one in ARC livery. Cheers.
@joeboycott Depends when it was made & released. The later Bachmann class 66's have working cab interior lights, were as the earlier version's don't have them.
@paulknowles100 All bar one, which is insulfrog (double slip), electrofrog points by peco. I've used mainly medium & large radius points. Much better running :-)
@trainmad1000 Most of the DCC systems out there are fully compatible with each other, & are so designed to work off what ever command unit (controller) . So in this case Bachmann loco, in which i've fitted a Lenz decoder, & the command unit is the Hornby Elite.
@xtmxst As per the real thing. Depends weather the lights are on for day time or night time running (switch under the loco to change over day / night time settings). Only thing Bachmann didn't do was to make the smaller side lights work as well. Video of the real 66 411 on my channel. Try ay76 wcml series part 5 in the search box. Cheers.
@bwarrrrk Yes, i've heard that too. From what i've heard, possibly a french loco fitted with a very similar engine. Now i wonder if any one actually has a sound recording of the real falcon??
@ay76 that would be cheating using another loco for the sounds lol. i have heard a brief sound clip of the falcon on a video on here but theres a bloke talking over most of it :/
@bwarrrrk From what they was saying, it's the only way thet'll be able to get a decent recording of the sounds. Makes me wonder what they'll go for for the sound of the horn??
I've just got a Bachmann class 66 but i'm having trouble with the wheels. There is a lot of free play side to side and 9 times out of 10 they jump off the points and bends. Have you had any trouble with them? I am using underlay which may be causing a problem with the track not being 100 % level
Not really had any probs at all. I use Peco electrofrog points (medium & large radius type). The bends are mainly peco flexi track bent to radius of 24" up wards. There is a couple of sections 2nd radius, & the outer test track is 3rd radius. The wheel do have free play on purpose, this is to allow the loco to get around 2nd radius curves etc. Getting the track level, is the key to good running. if the base board is badly built, this too can affect the running qualities of the trains also.
i had that trouble with my DB shanker 66 two wheel sets were out of gauge i squeezed them back too gauge measured them too check it then ran ok check you wheels gauge first it might be a simple fix like mine too minutes tops
I have a number of Bachmann class 66's & all run very well indeed, not had to do any adjustments on the wheels sets. But with the amount that are made, i'm sure the odd one will crop up with wheel sets out of gauge from time to time. Cheers.
It comes with cab lighting as standard. It's one of Bachmann's DCC ready models, So all you need is a 21 pin DCC decoder for it. This one I've fitted a Zimo 21 pin decoder. Really smooth runner. Cheers.
hattons is the greatest love that place im gonna build a layout, on a 80's british rail theme starting with 411 class. Thing is ive seen, asda intermodel containers but they are modern. Do i put a modern freighter with it, or use an 80's shunter, must admit your eddie shunter would look cool pulling the asda rolling stock cos its all from the rugby area eh
:-) Hattons are pretty good. With the Asda intermodals go for like what you see here a class 66. The loco you see here isn't a shunter but what actually pull's the trains out on the mainlines etc. For the shunters for the yards go for Hornby's class 08 or 09 shunters, or Bachmann's class 08 shunters. Dapol are bringing out the the correct container flat wagon's for this any time now. Cheers.
Actually this is how it comes from the factory. Under the loco there is a switch, for day time & night time running. If I was to switch it over then the other light will come on, whilst the one you see working here will turn off.Cheers.
The light switch is set so either the left hand light or right hand light is working. Not both on together at the same time, just like the real thing. As you see here this is how it comes as standard from Bachmann.Cheers.
I'm a complete noob and haven't been into the Model Railway scene for years. Does the DCC system mean you can have your whole stock DCC ready and use all electrofrog points with no need for isolation on a layout? No more grouding out over the insulated points?
I have 3 Bachmann class 66's, 2 been from the 1st releases.EWS & Freightliner. They don't have cab lighting. The later & more recent Bachmann 66's do have cab lighting as standard, like the Stobart one above. The Hornby Select will be able to do the control of the lights etc. Press function 0 for head & tail lights, & & press function 1 for the cab lighting.

great smooth decoders m8, havent really considered zimo, just 1 q, is the cab lighting standard, and what is the lowest function decoder you can get like if you have a loco oly with direcional lighting and you only want to be abl to turn it and off?
yep they where, however only one problem, its quite an old site, where they only use very basic dcc, and mostly dc. so i dont know how reliable they are
hi iian, one smooth decoder there m8! just one q, is the cab lighting standard, and what is the minimum funtions a decoder can have lets say if you only ahve a loco wit directional lighting and you just want to turn the on and of, is that 1 function?
The decoder is a 21 pin Zimo.Cab lighting is standard on this Bachmann loco(the earlier ones don't have it).I think the minimum function's you can have are 2 or 3.You are quite right about the on off = 1 function. The Hornby basic decoder has 4 functions & the Bachmann basic decoder has 3 functions.Hope this helps.Cheers
Hopfully by next year Bachmann will produce some Containers to go with this, but as its got the Tesco wording and logo it may not happen, but Stobart do have rail containers in blue with Stobart Rail on the side and nothing else so if the Tesco version never happens the Stobart version may.
Great loco. Mine is now dead but its being sent back to Bachmann. tut tut.
OH NO!! Wonder what has happened to your 66??Hope it will get sorted out for you.Yes it would be great if they do the matching containers for this train.Cheers mate.
Do they all come with lights or did you add them?
