I grew up on the West side (90's and CPW) and as an 11 year old have clear memories in the early 70's of fire hydrant sprinkler caps spraying into the street with kids cooling off in the summer as well as elderly women staring out open windows in the peak of the summer... all on 90th between Columbus and Amsterdam Ave's! A couple blocks west of CPW the residents were PR's and we weren't allowed to walk over there alone. Not to be non PC, but that's the way it was. Now... $1M for a 1 bedroom!
