Guitar Lesson - String skipping alternate picking pattern

im a beginner guitarist (1week) and having difficulty strumming the string i want to play, also with 2 string strumming without looking at the strings because im looking at the fret board am i being too hard on myself because cant do that just yet?

@MusicToMyEars36 i could answer this for you, but im guessing that after 9 months you figured it out :D alright so at 1 week, your rushing yourself a bit. the first week you gotta learn about the guitar, the components, main notes and chords. if you have trouble picking individual strings, then just KEEP PRACTICING. practicing always works. keep playing and good luck

@aquaagu2 thanks very much your reply.. i have definately improved very much but still not at where i want to be haha.. practice does make perfect! being slow and steady at first then the speed comes naturally.
