I just walked to Divine's grave. I am at a conference at the Sheraton in Towson, Md. That visit was definetly the highlight of this trip! Lipstick tubes, a pink flamingo, flowers, cigarettes, a banana, pink plastic flowers, "loving graffiti," an empty whiskey bottle, with ribbons and flowers--all loving placed where this awesome human being lies. Next to her grave lie her mother and father. All three of them died in March--wierd! On her grave: Divine: Our Loving Son Thanks for your life

The gays had Key West, I was there. Divine also lived there and Sylvester came to visit Divine regularly. Since us gays basically had the island to ourselves, it was a huge party. The clubs would play this song constantly when he was in town, and he would be out on the dance floor with the rest of us. On one of these visits, Sylvester walked out of the club drunk singing Mighty, Mighty Real with Divine dancing around him. The huge gay crowd (mostly tourists) went ape shit.

Divine home on United St on the small island of Key West was a small home, but he made it look really nice. He hired a gay decorator from Fort Lauderdale to decorate. It may have been small, but perfect. He had pin lights shinning across the room to hit a pictures and beautiful vases, with many items purchased from shops on the island.

I remember how proud Divine was to have worked with Cesar Romero in the Movie Lust in the Dust. Divine felt he had made it at this point. He said his mother liked Cesar and this was a big deal to him.
