last year of Dick Clark's nye with his cheerful pre-stroke voice, i just miss that voice soooo much! now after his stoke, he really does sound like he's in his 80s. sadly, he's no longer America's oldest teenager :(
This was Dick Clark's premature final time as the solo host of this annual series before his terrible stroke that forced former "Live" co-host Regis Philbin to host the 2005 event and "American Idol"'s Ryan Seacrest to be the permanent host of the series, starting for 2005-06. Clark made his return on New Year's Eve 2006, but he's just not the same. That stroke all but messed up his career big time.
Poor Dick who knew that this was gonna be the last time we were gonna hear him talk normal before his stroke that he was gonna have and in December of that year too just before the next new year , what a coincidence, ya never know what's gonna .
Clark was still a little bit slow in the countdown of the final :10 of '03. Note that he is about a half-second off (at the most) in between :10 and :09.
@rockshock06 He had a mild stroke in late 2004, but due to his advanced aged (Clark was in his 70s at the time), his voice sounded much slower and was more slurred, kind of like what happens when a person has too much to drink at a bar.
2004 was great for many teens and whatnot because a lot of shit came out on the internet and now in 2010 our next generation are being grown up on shit like fanboy and chum chum and mario for the wii it's really sad man
@ClayColes 2010 is good for teens right? i'm 14 at the moment, and 2010 was actually a good year for me in general, however 2009 was a hellhole for personal reasons.
in my opinion heres how the 2000's were. 2000- good 2001-bad 2002-extremely good year 2003-best year ever!!! 2004-was good until august 2005-Worst year of my life so far 2006-Far better than crappy 2005 2007-5 out of 10 2008-7 out of 10 2009-8 out of 10.
I've always wondered which years from the decade people liked or otherwise did not like.
For me hands down it had to be 2005! From beginning to end! I love that decade, makes me so nostalgic. 2004 was not bad either,I liked the last months before 2005. As for the other years I really could not care less. I'd probably say 2003.2007,2001 were the worst.
most of you think that 2004 was a great year but it wasn´t for many people. many people of the world were beheaded by al qaida and dick clark had an acident thats why he actually cant spell very well. but anyways i hope 2010 will be a great year for anyone and finally if this world can get some peace.
Well, at least we only have 116 days of this terrible decade left to endure, then we can all have something to be happy about come midnight on Dec 31st 2009.
Last time hearing .Mr .Clark talk normal who knew that was coming , poor Dick.

Either 2004 or 2005 was the first year I saw the ball drop on New Years Day. I was born in 1992 and I didn't stay up late when I was a young boy.

I was glad to see the ball drop...for me, 2003 blew. (Way too many celebs that I liked passed away.)
Though it's bittersweet watching this now...to hear Dick Clark so happy, knowing he wouldn't be able to do the ball drop for '05.

My parents got divorced in 2003 after thirty-one years of marriage. I was SO happy to see 2003 end and 2004 begin!
