last year of Dick Clark's nye with his cheerful pre-stroke voice, i just miss that voice soooo much! now after his stoke, he really does sound like he's in his 80s. sadly, he's no longer America's oldest teenager :(

This was Dick Clark's premature final time as the solo host of this annual series before his terrible stroke that forced former "Live" co-host Regis Philbin to host the 2005 event and "American Idol"'s Ryan Seacrest to be the permanent host of the series, starting for 2005-06. Clark made his return on New Year's Eve 2006, but he's just not the same. That stroke all but messed up his career big time.

Either 2004 or 2005 was the first year I saw the ball drop on New Years Day. I was born in 1992 and I didn't stay up late when I was a young boy.

Poor Dick who knew that this was gonna be the last time we were gonna hear him talk normal before his stroke that he was gonna have and in December of that year too just before the next new year , what a coincidence, ya never know what's gonna .

@rockshock06 He had a mild stroke in late 2004, but due to his advanced aged (Clark was in his 70s at the time), his voice sounded much slower and was more slurred, kind of like what happens when a person has too much to drink at a bar.

I've always wondered which years from the decade people liked or otherwise did not like.

For me hands down it had to be 2005! From beginning to end! I love that decade,makes me so nostalgic. 2004 was not bad either,I liked the last months before 2005. As for the other years I really could not care less. I'd probably say 2003.2007,2001 were the worst.
