i remember how i used to listen to this song when i was 10... mom used to get up early at the week-end to clean the house while listening to the radio..
That means that a woman will rise from a fall like the chestnut tree that sprouts again but not men who are like the breadfruit tree which does not grow back. In the West Indies, there are a lot of strong women and everything that the song lyrics says is true. That's a very beautiful song!
maybe but we can't say that zouk is haitian, in guadeloupe martinique we have our culture too gwo ka, mazouk, biguine, bélè are not haitian musics, you are not alone to speak french creole in the west indies !
1985 the musik was not evenyet called Zouk the word zouk comes from Martinik (means party). The name comes from the pr press people who in 1985 when the muzik phenomenon came out no one knew what it waz in Actuel magazine they called it "la zouk la" because remember Jacob was singing "zouk la se selmedicamen nouni..." but dont worryTC we all brought our contribution in one way or another to the success of kizomba. Didn't you know that now with or
It's funny you mentioned Kadens Rampa. That was ALSO originated from Konpa! lol. Weber Sicot created Kadens Rampa after Konpa, and was actually seen performing WITH Nemours Jean Baptiste (One of the founders of Konpa). Jacob Desvarieux (co-founder of Kassav) acknowledges the the strong influence of konpa music/musicians in creating the unique sound Kassav has produce.
I never said zouk is Haitian. I said zouk originated from Konpa. Konpa has been around since the early 50's. Zouk was created in the late 70's and yet they share a definite similar sound! So what does that tell you? I listen & love both, so I'm not favoring one over the other. The facts are just facts. History is history
Hey, Bro/Sis you seem to confuse Kompa and Kadens Rampa and that's where Zouk is derived from; mixed with the musical influence of Gwada Madi and Guiana it is now a big thing but let's not for get that in...
without "Kompa" or RnB in it it is called Kizomba Im talking about the real big market.but that's OK ce grinn diri ka fe sacdiri...it doesnt matter where it came from just look after it so lasts and improves.
if you say it sounds like compas, so you don't know the real SOUND of compa music. the song FANM FO doesn't definately sound like compa. it simply ZOUK. u can not tell the difference as you think u can. sorry
Bravo, belle Dame!

This is a classic zouk song.
But everyone forgets Zouk originated FROM Konpa! So of course there's going to be a similar sound from the two.
