Chord subs in G major

I have been using book 1 for a while now, is it a good system to learn? I know its an old book but does it fit in the modern jazz idiom? do you recommend that I continue with it? Thanks for your help.

Thank you, i bought the Mickey Baker Jazz book in 1976. Over the years i have dived in and out of it and found it very useful. But watching it come to life under your fingers puts a whole new slant on it Brilliant ! More please.
