Read the manga. There's something there. Even if it's not romance, or even friendship, Ulquiorra and Orihime have made each other question the things they thought they knew. Orihime has become stronger, and Ulquiorra has begun to question the value of humanity and the concept of the heart. Ulquiorra isn't as two-dimensional as most believe.

Well, there's that ^^! But I don't think this theory is likely, seeing as how a)we saw Sora's Soul Burial, and b) reaching the level of Adjucas or Vasto Lord takes a significant amount of time.

I tend to think that the connection between Sora and Ulquiorra is more along the lines of Orihime learning to apply the same acceptance and kindheartedness that opened the heart of her Hollow brother, to someone else, thereby showing that Orihime is powerful in her own way. That's my analysis, anyway.

And if Ulquiorra does jump sides, his reason will be directly attributable to Orihime's influence on him. After all, she is the only human that he has had extended and meaningful contact with, and it is through his interaction with her that his character arc is played out. Ulquiorra and Orihime are two people that have had a huge impact on each other (just like Ichigo and Rukia). This is hardly a "pairing up [of] random bleach chars".
