Although, with Tru'nembra, you're competing with The Shunned House, which made him (it?) sound perfect and you could... see it... however they managed to do that.
I like that you did try to put something out the window, but probably just pitch black would have worked better than a blue vortex. Also, I'm pretty sure Erich was still playing after Tru'nembra killed him.
I've always assumed the city to be Paris, but the city is (as far as I know) never named in HPL's tale. I wonder if he mentions it in his correspondence, or if it is all meant to be some kind of nameless dream? I keep coming back to this video -- it's so awesome! The music and effects sound great on headphone.
Very good job! Lovecraft is one of a kind, but it takes a lot of work to read through his dense prose. Watching movies based on Lovecraft's works helps me become better prepared for actually reading the stuff.
This story is quite reminiscent of Cool air, basically the plot unfolds the same, you have the narrator renting somewhat of a tacky abode, who seemingly applies to making company to one of his freaky neighbours which also represents the horror key element of the tale. Even Dr. Munoz and Erich Zann share a certain likeness, they're both acquaintances of the narrators; though the doc and the musician seem to respect these, it happens at times that they behave rudely towards their counterparts.
I used to read "Heavy Metal" and there was a story called "Tex Arcana" that really seemed influenced by this tale. Of course Lovecraft followers are legion, but the way the eccentric hermit guy musician called up God only knows what kind of creature with his violin...
Although I'm a fan of the game, the actual production you get from Movies has never been something entertaining IMO, however this was great, and the fact it was done with something as 'delicate' as a Lovecraft story is all the more remarkable.
Of all the Erich Zann vids, yours is the best. I suspect that if the Movies! program was a bit more capable, you'd have even had the bit where Zann is still playing.... but clearly, is not alive anymore, moving as a marionette in a fugue. :D
For a lovecraft fan which i am this was actually pretty good, This type of SIMS looking animation is actually a pretty good medium for adapting Lovecrafts stories but Its a pity you could not show some of the starnge creatures our protagonist saw from Zanns window
The mystery of what the student actually saw (or didn't see) is part of what makes this story so terrifying. H.P. Lovecraft thought this one of his best works because he did not over-explain what was seen through the window.
well played. That was enjoyable, thanks

Pretty good given your medium there.

Also, BEST OUTER GOD EVER! Am I right, folks?

@JamesWyndorf It reminds me of Thomas Mann's Doctor Faustus, although I think Lovecraft may have written this one first.
Sorry, I admire Lovecraft and all, but he doesn't even hold a candle to Thomas Mann.
Mann's descriptions of the music of hell are breathtaking.

Bravo!
I'm not a fan of the usual YouTube "The Movies" productions but this is good.
Although I think the Horror genre doesnt translate well into the SIMS style, I thought this worked out well.
So 5 stars for you!
