  • Local bands are a fantastic idea. Big labels tend to not be so flexible. They won't give you the right to use it, or if they do you'll have to pay thousands of dollars for a few minutes.

Local bands are more willing to give permission to get their stuff out there.

  • ur voice tells me, u smoke and drink a lot, typical ozzy

  • I love your voice... it's soo soothing. Oh hello hello...

  • Love ya hun! Rambling rocks!

    Toodles

  • good look with the result of those auditions

     you are doing great

  • to the best of my knowledge, as long as the music your using is correctly referenced, and that you actually brought the music then there shouldn't be any problem. I've had multiple video's in the past that i've used music for that i referenced in the credits at the end. Might be worth looking in to, I'll do some research myself.

  • huh. don't know them, but I'll check it out and thanks so much.

  • You are so true in this video!

  • thanks!

  • you have sexy voice

  • *tries jessica rabbit... fails* *giggle* thanks!

  • that was a great video, i remember watching it when you posted it. How is your mom doing with your cats back in the US of America?

  • lol! thanks puissse!! hopefully they aren't driving her crazy with it getting warm back home. the orange one tends to whine more in the summertime.

  • im really getting fed up of copy right where is the fun anymore

  • it is frustrating, but I think the best we can do is support bands that do allow this creative freedom and sharing their music as much as we possibly can.

  • You sound like Laurie Anderson...

  • ??? The 80's synthesized music/voice singer with the 'poppopopop beats... superman song'?

  • Which show are you putting on?

I agree about "the smaller folk" getting their music out there, but I also think that WE smaller folk get more protected if there is a general respect for copyright. As for the big corporations, they are doing themselves a disfavour by keeping their music OUT of the limelight :-)

    Where's the video?

  • Show... select scenes by David Ives.

    Very true... great points!! thanks!

  • awesome statement, great video.

  • awesome comment. thanks!

  • Woo hoo! The copyright thing frustrates me to no end and I am THRILLED that you've (fingers crossed) found a way around it. And I think I told you how much I loved that video so to have it back will be fantastic. I really think the artists would mostly be happy to see their work used on YouTube but the record companies and rights-holders get in the way and are short-sighted. I've bought a couple of Cat Empire discs because of that video and I love them. So yay!!!

  • AHHH!! really??? when I get this vid up, please let them know in the comments! it's just really great to know that this actually can be a GOOD thing for artists to share their work!

  • The Cat Empire!

One of the best kinda eccentric jazz bands Australia has ever produced.

    GO AUSSIE!

  • The two great finds I have had out here so far has been them and John Butler Trio. I like their stuff too, for different reasons but alls cool... wish we had more of this stuff back in the States!

  • Try The Waifs or Fishbone.

Both have really good, eclectic sounds.

  • WAAHH...has O Hello gone Oh, Goodbye?

  • lolol!! coming back soon.. I promise!

  • btw you have a very nice voice to listen to :)

  • thanks!!

  • I was blown away by The Cat Empire. I love that type of music, they are really good. Thanks for sharing this find.

Yeah, it's a shame the world of corporate music makers is so greedy. That's all the world is about anymore, the bottom line.

  • So Glad you like their stuff! when I finally get this looking normal and posted, please pass on comments like that so that they reinforce allowing folks the opportunity to share their music!

  • Hm... June =)

    You're so cute.

  • thanks! and lets say July now... All the stuff I had to put off for June has now moved to July *sigh* tis life eh?

  • i hope this comment finds u well

  • Would you settle for finds her?

  • I didn't get the call out notice for the try outs for your play or I would have been there. Darn it. I sure miss you big time. dabe

  • LOL! you were already cast luv... a guest appearance as a Lawn Gnome! *wink*

  • I can't wait for a play set in Gnome Alaska. LOL Maybe I can be as big a hit as that girl who played the capital of Alaska. You know Juno.

  • When you posted this video the first time I got absolutely hooked. I still listen to their music all the time. I actually managed to find one of their albums in an FYE stateside.

  • SO AWESOME TO HEAR! I hope they see comments like this so that they encourage the sharing of their music worldwide ;))

  • Hi Katz looking forward to seeing this again. Another favorite video going back up, yay!

  • so glad!!! I'm working on it :)))

  • Yay, but I can't find the other video...? :O

  • hopefully soon :( so sorry!!

  • Musicians *should* be glad their music is being promoted through YouTube!

  • well... you have to wonder if it is the "Musicians" or the money makers (big corps, companies, agents etc) they are hired to make money, it's just getting too extreme now a days I believe.

  • garageband

  • yes?

  • kewl

  • Slight suggestion if you are not currently doing it. Try and make a script before you start vlogging. And try to practice your script before you vlog. If you do that you will never have another Umm song. other than that very good point though I find that doing home made music videos are like free advertising for "Big Corporations".

  • cheers, yeah unfortunately I haven't had time to script out my vlogs... which is why I poked some fun at myself in the next one ;)

although, sometimes, too scripted gets a little too formal for me. its just finding that happy medium is all.

    thanks!

  • They really need to bring copyright/patents, etc up to date and more fair with how they work.

I mean for crying out loud, a video of people lip syncing to a song or a little home made video tribute that someone makes to their favorite band, how on earth is that HARMING anything?

    Looking forward to your video.

  • it's baffling isn't it. and very sad too. :((

    hopefully it'll be up soon.

  • That part about that Australian website makes me sad. Everyone should be like that, instead of being money hungry. Almost all of my music has never been played on TV/radio but I'm still worried that someone will come after me....

  • I know, I was so shocked to see it, but then very sad that i was actually shocked... they are a great band and it is wonderful example that should be followed :)

  • Glad to hear things are going well, albeit busy! Looking forward to seeing this clip of yours! :)

  • hi sharpy!!

yes, very busy!! but trying to keep up best I can.

    thanks! hopefully soon *hugs*

  • Is it posted? I am sure you will not a problem so long as you don't monetize it. Another thing, do you think Judson got permission from all those copyright holders for Evolution of Dance? There are a lot of double standards on YouTube.

  • yeah... not sure how that goes either. other than he didn't "make" direct money off of it??

  • *huggles* Good to hear from you Katz. :3

  • Hi crystal! :D love the *huggles* thought *BIG huggles* right back at ya!!

  • Huzzah! X3

  • I was just thinking where did you go?

  • still here, but unfortunately have gaps in time I can spend on here due to school. in my last semester so some youtube things have had to take the backseat to school work.

  • Yes, she is beautiful and intelligent, I agree. If she wasn'r Blunty's woman, I would hold her and never let her go. Well, at least 'til I needed a beer. Lol...xoxox

  • I am soooo happy! That was one of my very favorite videos--I'd watch it every few weeks. I was very sad when you had to take it down. If it was not for you and that video, I would never have heard of The Cat Empire--who I love. You made my day! Hooray for The Cat Empire!

  • LOLOL!! and you(s) are the reason why I want to do this right. no sense enjoying it without it looking good :))) I'll get there!!!

  • *checks*, YEAH, I had that video in my favorites :D WHOOHOO

  • cheers! hopefully soon :( trying another "formula" compression for YT now.

  • I <3 The Cat Empire!!! You're Great!!!

  • yay! love them too!!! thanks!

  • hehe great video, a shame the lighting was a bit dark though. But YAY! new vid!

  • so true! the sun set on me!! thanks!

  • It's the hello hello video????

OH PLEASE!!! I hope it is!!!!

  • maaayyyybee *wink*

  • You have the most sensual voice!

  • thanks! so many folks have said this, it's odd... never really thought or listened to my own voice *shrug* can't stand answering machine messages I make *giggle* but I guess it's all relative

  • Gah! I wanna see it!!! You havn't posted it yet!!!

  • hopefully i'll get it right sooooon!!

  • yay! great sound this time ^^

you have a lovely speaking voice...that would be a career in radio :)

  • Thanks so much! would love to but haven't really looked into the industry, but I'll keep it in mind for sure.

    thanks again!

  • That's really great that they recognition the fan videos as complimentary and art!

Hopefully the video is ready now that I watched the intro!

  • so awesome!! can wait to share it with them :) I do hope they like it ;)

  • Yay! A new video!! The music and video industries drive me insane with all this copyright stuff.

  • it makes it really tough to share music we love... you would think it would be a compliment.

  • No kidding, if you look at my videos I've been forced to use iMovie music! :P Not that there's anything wrong with that, it's pretty good. :P
