Best TV series there was, and even to this day, it still is THE best version of Robin. I remember Look In magazine very well. Going down to the shops on my BMX, buying Look In and a bag of sweets, and still have some change leftover. Things are very different these days. Many thanks for uploading this. This one wasn't on the RoS DVD's. Rare archive footage. Nice work :)
I would really like to watch this interview in full or at least a bit longer..It is a very interesting, historical interview. If you ever come across one, guys, please drop me a link to watch it. Ta!!
@Dmitry336227005 I don't have the full programme, just this interview, the one with Kip Carpenter & Paul Knight, and a small interlude with Phil doing a Scooby Doo impression.
@memoir4you You betcha! My pocket money usually had me buying a Look in a week with just enough to get a bag full of penny sweets, and you still had change from a couple of coins!
The filming had wound down by this time, but the third series was still airing on tv. Michael was living in America still, but came over for the Awards.
It sure was a shock for us all when Michael left for Broadway. For many years I asked myself what had become of him ( who had considered himself as being not very bright ) but these days you can hear him as a narrator on some very good BBC productions - So he's still around. I can recommend to everybody buying the DVD box sets of the first two series where as extras you can get valuable information from behind the scenes.
Michael has been back in the UK on and off since the early 90's, but has been solidly doing a lot of stage work and getting very good reviews. He doesn't do mainstream tv so people can be forgiven for not thinking he's around. He's actually embarked on a nationwide musical tour right now.
Michael has always had a very good, mature head on him even when he was younger. He was a cheeky chappy though then and we love his vitality, wit and good humour. Of course he still has all of that, but more muted as he has gotten older. Love his drive, and his undaunting optimism. He still has a slight naiveness now which is quite compelling.
I value Michaela for his beauty not only I value him for his intelligence the felling of humor I think that it is talented actor and he has beautiful voice but Michael was so beautiful and handsome man that does not adore him hard and Michael is still attractive man.
Why just 2 min.of interview?!! I wish I could hear what the cast of RoS was discussing after Friar Tuck's arrival. Yeah, the voice of Michael Praed is fascinating, he was a fool to leave RoS for Dynasty and theatre, and his wrong dicision made so many girls cry because of Loxley's death! Nothing can be changed!
While I wished so much that he had stayed on with RoS, the show only lasted one more season. It wound up stopping production because the company that produced it was mismanaged. RoS was cancelled way too soon.
You make a interesting point there. Had Michael stayed it would have just been for one more season anyway. Regardless of if they managed to get the money or not, I think Michael would have gone then. Three series is enough for anyone. It wouldn't have hurt his career to have stayed for Series Three. I think he should have done it as it would have given him tons of offers. He went to the US without really knowing how good he was and how loved he was. Life is full of what ifs but nothings forgotten
Michael Praed was on the world the most handsome man,he had and it has so beautiful eyes, that the lack of words.Michael was gorgeous and it is still!!!!
Brilliant find! So glad to see Mark Ryan and Ray Winstone chose to go with suits instead of the contemporary fashion - I think only Judi Trott could have pulled off those leather(?) pants. ;) Looking forward to more of your 'rarities'!
Judi Trott was the most lovely, beautiful, adorable, gorgeous actress in the same way Michael ( and actually everybody of the main actors ) played a great part. I think they couldn't have cast that part better in a hundred years.
Yes, I agree, she was the perfect Marion. A mix of unusual beauty and sweetness, but she was also one of the boys. She would ride, shoot a bow and use a sword, but in a realistic way, not backflipping around like Xena.
And all due respect to the excellent stunt coordinators. You know the background story, classic TV series ( like e.g. The Avengers and The Sweeney ) always speak of the beautiful craftsmanship of all those who were involved, but not visible on screen.
Have you seen Martin Potter's Robin Hood, from the old BBC Legend of Robin Hood series? He plays a very gritty, angry and idealistic young outlaw too. No magic and mysticism, but still a very good series, and Marion's father is none other than John Abineri, who played Herne in RoS!
Look-in was a great publication wasn't it? Like most, I would buy it weekly. Wished I had kept them, but now in my adulthood I can buy them back and get equally the same enjoyment the second time around!
Excellent! This series deserved all the awards it received. No other 'Robin Hood' has come close to Michael Praed in the part. Crikey, I use to have the Look-in magazine, so this brings back memories. Thanks for posting.
Thanks. Marvellous to see the boys (and girl) together from the time suited and booted, and Phil (ever the good sport) still wearing his costume. Bless! And as for the presenter, she couldn't resist lunging for Michael's hair could she? LoL

I'm guessing the rest of the cast were still filming on the 3rd series at this time?
How beautiful is Judi, sooo lovely.

No. It's the full interview. Sorry. It's a kid's tv award show where they received an award. It's not meant as a really indepth interview.

What a fabulous blast from the past ! The ROS
cast were on telly quite often from 84 to 86.
All missing presumed lost though as VCR's
were still rare back then. Excellent find !
Thank you.
