I think that Trillium and O.S.R should get together and amalgamate too form a Niagara St Thomas Guelph Railway....what name would you give them if they did some time down the line... They could call themselves Southern Central Ontario Railway..O.C.S.R. then they could have a Passenger Service to Port Colbourne and St Thomas from Guelph...then they could run a Steam trains from St Thomas too Port Colbourne,,even Port Stanley would be set too up grade. What do you think?
can someone please tell me what the hell kind of loco that is i know it is former cn and its an alco because nothin smokes like an aclo. is it an sw series?
@frosty012 The loco is an MLW S-13. It was a Canadian only unit, with an ALCO 1000HP 6 cylinder inline 251 engine. Nearest US equivalent would be an S-6 or T-6, which were not made in Canada. CP had a similar unit but with road type trucks instead of switcher trucks which was called the RS-23 (see my Windsor & Hantsport video). CN, PGE (BCR) and some industrial operators had S-13's. The units on this video are ex-CN.
@fmnut thanks for the Info. I used to work at the port colborne landfill, there is a daily train that runs past there. I typically saw one of the exCN units. But every now and then the exCP would pass
@frosty012 ah, well that explains a lot! I used to work at the port colborne landfill and the loco passed daily some times 2-3 times. i also saw lots of the former cp unit
The proposed link from the Canal spur did not happen nor was there a new bridge to replace the fire-damaged bridge. The paper plant still does not see rail service.
It was my understanding that they were going to install a switch on the Canal Spur to connect with the Townline Spur at the end of Townline road and eliminate the trackage from Merriton up the hill and over the CN. Has this been done? Or have they quit serving the paper plant completely?
I believe so, i just learned that today from another guy i know. I don't think Trillium is planning to get rid of the trackage over the CN Grimsby Sub, well i hope not. The track to the canal spur and switch im pretty sure are planned to be done. Trillium no longer serves the tissue paper plant. Its all served by truck. Of coarse trains should be serving the plant again soon if they return the Townline Spur to service.
I like the shot at 2:32.

awsome video! I love trillium and how alot of their tracks go right through city's rather then on the outskirts like most bigger rail lines.

Great catch. I see those locomotives almost everyday across the canal where I work from my locomotive. Thanks for sharing.
