The east and the midwest have odd or imperfect skatespots (like surfaces paved with brick or full of cracks), the cities are older, and haven't gone through devastating earthquakes. West coast cities like LA are really spread out, but they have a lot of new construction, so there's a large amount of insanely perfect skatespots. And of course SF has hills. hope that answers it.
