I've sang this before and I thought they did very well. I do agree on the more support and breath control, but that all seems to dissappear in concerts when everyone's nervous. Never the less it was really, really, really good!! Good luck on any future concerts!
The group sounds like it has potential. Too bad the director has such vulgar taste in repetoire. With taste like that she doesn't deserve to have a group of such dedicated students.
She is my conductor for our women's choir, which is one below Mads, she has excellent taste, this is one of the bad ones, I have to agree...but she is an amazing conductor, she can turn a choir around and has helped me improve my voice.
Great job! This is not an easy piece. I would like to hear this group add in the markings that Moses Hogan intended... meaning those maracto and staccato points. Good job descant soloist.
this was once again a putrid horrid performance coming from an experianced African American male. Who has studied music for quite sometime!!!If you can't sing a Moses Hogan piece don't sing it at all, Because it is hard to fix this mess!!!!
Overall nice harmonies. And for everyone who decided to comment on this being a madrigal choir, CLEARLY IT SAYS THAT THIS IS A MADRIGAL CHOIR! This is indeed a spiritual and all madrigal choirs need to be versatile. Good job once again with pitch, but for a spiritual like this stronger, heavier tones are needed.
DYNAMICS need to be implied, and it has no feeling what so ever!Don't go flat at the Jericho part.Tenors watch and the Walls come tumblin down.Soprano solo watch it!
The tempo must be much faster. Longer vowels. Especially in the men. If I can use that word loosely. Women, you need to gain about 50 pounds, and by that I basically mean sing with more depth, more breath, and a much richer sound. It is a spiritual after all. Do it justice PLEASE! Intonation was excellent though.
Must agree with margotlorena- and it's sounds like like the men aren't blending and aren't having enough diaphram support. Altos also need to speak up. Just need some fine tuning. Just speaking from one choir member to another :D
hahah I know that THAT is not a madrigal... Renaissance choral music is my favourite music!!! that's why I wrote that I have never heard or seen a madrigal named Battle of Jericho!!
They sound like they were falling apart towards the end, but a capella is difficult to pull off. Their stage presence is dead. Maybe move a little? *Shrugs* This choir did an okay job though. I've heard/seen better performances.
Nice work Alto's, that one bass (That did the low part - that stood out) was yuck. Tuning????? You don't look very alive but sound it. I was looking forward to a madrigal... oh well
first of all great change at the end, because the song is not written like that. Sencond of all this is the first madrigal group I hear that sings Moses Hogan. Good job guys, love Battle of Jericoh.
not bad at all for a choir consisting of very young singers! e first part can be more dynamic and exciting. perhaps a tad faster would make a different? E later part of e song is juz fine! great work!
where was this and when was this????????!!!!! i remember them from one of my choir things....
(( other wise good performance ))

In general, the song sounds nice...but this song isn't about being nice. It's missing the conviction/energy. Not bad though.

that's a spiritual,not a madrigal.

Yes, I have yet to hear a madrigal about the battle of Jerico.

blattle of jerico is also a spritual, not a madrigal.

Unfortunatly there isn't much that can be done about the audience coughing, sneezing or whatever.
From what I could see, brilliant discipline, however, a little more diaphram breathing for the upper notes wouldnt hurt, oh and diction
