you are so wrong if you thank Blake Richardson has no creativity. Do not mistaken BTBAM's technicality for a lack of creativity; Don't get me wrong, this guy is ultra-talented but the first four seconds of Sun of Nothing shits on this and if you want to see Blake's true creativity listen to Informal Gluttony.
I didn't say he had no creativity, but let's face it Brann is way more creative. I've heard Blake's style of drumming before he's not doing anything that new. I've never heard an apporach quite as unique as Brann's in metal.
maybe its just the camera angle but brann's bass drum looks really really small. like an 18 incher. i've seen more recent vids where it seemed to be 22"... weird.
yea, agree, though I would have a hard time keeping john bonham, matt cameron, and keith moon off of any list of the best drummers. Brann Dailor is amazing though and should definitely become recognized as the best drummer of the decade after this next album
no way blake richardson from betwean the burried and me is probably one of the best drummers of the decade. check out btbam's new cd colors it will blow your mind
yea i was naive 3 months ago. btbam are nasty and blake richardsons pretty sick. i still prefer brann and danny carey, but few drummers could've done what blake did on colors
Blake Richardson is a good drummer for sure. He has a shit load of chops, but in terms or creativity he is no where near Brann Dailor, and after all that's what is important at the end of the day.
i was just joking, lars is a basic drummer, but yea everybody is dissing lars, you have to respect the greatest/biggest metalband ever, his drumming goes really well with the music, if you put mike portnoy in metallica, it just woudnt work.
Still lars is really underrated, the stuff he did on and justice for all and even st anger was really cool, the kit sounded like garbage cans, but the drumming itself is more than decent.
@oootinanai Brann dailor is a jazz-trained drummer, so ofcourse hes better than lars. you can tell that brann knows music theory, which is why his compositions are so damn fine, he adds another layer to the songs. very unorthodox and totally killer. brann is definitely not your average metal drummer, pummeling double bass and speed the whole way through. he has a lot of variation in his style, i can hear everything from pink floyd to neurosis to radiohead to slayer to faith no more, in there
@adriaj99 i meant self-training man, not being trained by others. yeah brann is a self-taught drummer for the most part. the guy does take a lot of influence from jazz and progressive stuff like pink floyd. hes not your average metal drummer for sure
Thats strange. I've seen them 4 times and I'm a big fan, but 3 out of those 4 times the sound quality was pretty awfull! lol I think the 4th time I saw them the sound was only ok because we were so close we weren't hearing it all throught the PA but direct from the amps and drum kit. IMO definately a band better in the studio than live.
sound quality has little to do with the band, and way more with the technicians/engineers. now, if they played sloppy or hit the wrong notes or passed out on stage, then it would be their fault. but if you cant hear them, blame whomever is in charge of the audio at the venue.
i like how there not half assing it like some other bands would, i know its only sound check, but if they're doing this good, just imagine the show. i hate when my favorite bands get lazy after a platinum album and half ass the concerts. not a big fan of them, but i respect this.
I agree. Although Mastodon switched to a major label, their quality doesn't change as they proved on Blood Mountain. I love the mood this song creates. The technicality is insane!
greatest band on earth. Brann is the best drummer in the world. Dont deny it motherfucker. Whoever sed hes the next keith moon shud know that Brann dailor kicks keiths moons ass, and he duznt need steroids to be good at drums.
System and slipknot are the bands I started out listening to. I dont really like em anymore. I hardly ever even look at the cds anymore. They do kick ass though. Even if they are overrated, you cant deny that they are good because they are. Ive moved on now
seabeast.... i fucking love it

Virgil Donati. If you drum, this guy should be your inspiration...
MetalMilitia0101 2 years ago
Virgil Donati has chops for sure, but his music is unlistenable.
Sunderlanding 2 years ago
no, lars ulrich should be your inspiration.
ilsanto1 2 years ago
I guess its "unlistenable" if you arent into prog stuff. I find alot of Planet X stuff very interesting to listen to. They are all great musicians.

Lars Ulrich?? He has my respect as a composer but as a drummer he is way too overated if you ask me.
I'm not saying he's shit or any of that 5year old comments but there are better drummers out there in pretty much any aspect.
He has my respect though because he's pretty much one half of Metallica
