This song has followed me throughout my entire life, and as I get older, its a haunting reminder of the first time I heard it. How beautiful and simple everything was ,and how as I get older everything seems more complicated.

Yeah, "Under the Western Freeway" is a top 5 album for me...then it went downhill from there for Grandaddy. I think what was great was the interesting riffs/chords from that album, and then it just got really painfulliy boring poppy from "Sophtware Slump" on.

Sophtware Slump and Sumday have unique qualities about them as well. You're definitely selling those albums short. Also, "AM 180" is without a doubt the most "poppy" song they have... so I'm not sure you really want to take that route with the argument.
