  • hey man i just found your channel and your videos have really helped me better understand the game. My fightstick comes in on friday so i hope to start learning how to get better at this game!

  • @JcThPS Glad to hear it can help, I always appreciate hearing feedback! If you end up having any struggles you haven't seen covered in the show let me know. I'm always happy to add in a part or a full episode on tips people feel that I've missed or haven't covered enough. Thanks for the watch/comment.

  • Used to help level your game up. Simple punishes like these are perfect for online environment against people who just mash away at buttons.

  • De Chavez speaks the truth, block strings are very important at medium to a high level and should amos

  • Having said all that I still think you should keep making the show and sharing the things you learn and discover as you go. Its a great tool for people who are trying to grasp the enormous complexity that is SFIV

  • You basically want to throw out a medium attack by itself and then cancel into a special only when you know the opponent cannot block it in time. For example, Ryu does a dragon punch and you block it, as he lands you can use a hig-damamge cancellable normal move then cancel into a special. You know its going to hit,l because you blocked the shoryuken and the opponent cannot do anything about it, not even block! Anyways I hope I explained this well enough so it makes sense.

  • In this situation you are at a serious advantage because the opponent has to basically sit there and block, and his only options are to continue blocking, throw out a risky reversal, throw out a risky focus attack, etc. You options are better than his options. And of course, if those two jabs you throw out actually hit, if youve got your link timing down solid, you just link your medium attack and cancel into your special.

  • If you throw out a couple of jabs and you see that the attack is being blocked you can A) go for a tick throw, B) go for a frame trap, which is a move that will hit the opponent if they try to do ANYTHING besides block, C)Go for an overhead, D) jump away, E) Block , if you are excpecting them to reversal etc etc etc. All of the above are what we call mix-up situations. Basically From just two jabs, we have opened up several possibilities for ourselves.

  • I like your show, I really do, but I want to set you straight on a couple of things. First, cancelling is great, but it is hard to hit confirm a medium attack directly into a special. This can lead to getting punished hard by the opponent. This is where links come in. After a jump-in, for example, it is actually a good idea to throw out a couple of jabs and at this time, you can verify that your combo is either hitting or being blocked. Then you want to link your medium attack and cancel.

  • This is BEYOND technical!
