This band is from Birmingham England and this song was originally released in 1964. This clip is from the film "Pop Gear" which featured British acts of the pre 1965 era. Other groups that were in this film were The Honeycombs, The Four Most,
The Four Pennies, Sounds Incorporated and others. I have this on video and it's a favorite of mine.
after just hearing the Fourmost I could understand why they missed the first British Invasion of America, and I Was prepared to laugh at these guys, but so what? ! they have a unique sound. what happened ? didn't old Mr. B. Epstein own a piece of these guys? I want to hear more !
Whilst the world was busy with the Stones, the Beatles, Beachboys ect. the Rocking Berries went about their business making little gems such as this, stunning!
@normvb "Popgear" came on AMC several yrs. ago, and I was introduced to the Rockin berries, and this song. I grew up during the 60s and 70s, and not all of the British groups during the 60s British invasion were being played with heavy rotation on the radio back then in the U.S. Most of the biggest bands such as the Beatles and the Rolling Stones were being played queit regularly over the radio.
This just represented what I considered the great new sound that was coming from Britain although I can't remember this group being heard in the States. I could be wrong on that but hey I was only 12 at the time. British music was like a breath of fresh air to America and it all started with the Beatles and just got better.
does anybody out there have an mp3 of this song? I can't find it anywhere and my only option seems to be importing their greatest hits (which is fairly expensive)
To Rezo4000: I recommend getting the Complete Collection CD and then rip it to your computer, or I-Pod, or whatever. There's always the chance that you'll love MORE songs by this band.
this took me back to the 60,s and this great song. loved the video and I remember chuck who formed this group, many great memories of a great birmingham group. I met them in Redditch before they were famous and knew they would become great. Mary
This song has it all Jan and Dean Harmony. Spector wall of sound, and that good ole 60s twangy surf guitar. Its addicting cant get it out of my head. But every time I come back to it seems to disappear anyone know why?
