@Utsumo He was heavily infuenced by McCartney's songwriting and music styles at the start of his solo career. Just watch the promo video of Everybody Loves You Now. Billy looks just like him.
this song is excellent, and it's a shame his most popular songs are from lesser albums like Storm Front, because his first was one of his best, in my opinion
You can't tell there is anything wrong with the mastering because this is from the corrected version re-released in 1984. Original pressings with the messed up mix can go for a pretty penny.
sadly the track "you can make me free" was edited down from 8 minutes to just 3 and just fades out. I cant understand why they didnt correct that too for the CD reissue. The bastards.
The original had a much better mix than this. Artie Ripp butchered the album for the 1983 reissue, he took a load of stuff out and put new stuff in like synthesisers and drum tracks, to make it more appealing to the 80s generation.
I love this song! (Actually, I love the whole album - it arrived by the way!) I honestly can't stop listening to this and 'Falling of the Rain. Thanks for the post :D
@mission2marsden if you wanna get real into it, he wrote another song about his mom, that i know of, im sure there are more, but its called "Rosalinda" just rosalinda, i belive the only recording was from a concert post cold spring harbor, and pre rainbow room i think you might still be able to find it on here, hope you check it out
He also wrote another song for his mother, simply titled "Rosalinda". Sadly, that song never made it on a record, but I think that song is very beautiful
hes talking about the song he wrote about for his mother that was never released. he played it live at a radio show in philadelphia and its on youtube.
acctually there is an album that Rosalinda is on. i just got it, it is called "Retold Vol.2 The Piano Man From the Harbor".. It is very hard to find. It took me almost a year to find a copy and I had to order it from a man in Peru of all places!!
Oh my gosh I stinking love you!! Seriously you're my favorite person in the world right now--well I mean, besides you know who! XD Lol. Can you tell I'm just a little excited? Instant 5 stars and favorites! *mwah*

Why do so many people hate on/make fun of Billy Joel? His music is amazing and he is clearly a true artist.

He sounds a bit like Paul McCartney on this song

I think the poor quality of the recording actually enhances the song, like when he hits the high notes and it cracks a bit.

Ok, less fan-gushy comment now, did you know he wrote it for his sister? How sweet is that!
in retrospect, that's still pretty gushy, arg. O_o I'll shut up now.

Yes, Judy was Billy's sister. He also wrote a song for his mother, titled "Rosalinda's Eyes".
