  • This condition is very problematic.

You can't run as fast as you can anymore.

If you do, the patella deviates from it's usual place and it's extremely painful.

It'll take a few days for the pain to subside if you left it without proper interventions.

Some positions and movements make you feel discomfort and slight pain.

There is a clicking sound every time you walk because the patella collides with the other bones. It's quite a bit embarrassing...

  • what the hell is so inappropriate about this?

  • i have the same thing and i have to wear this brace that pulls my knee cap in place and holds it there i fell on the stars and it dislocated and then i was walkin in the woods and idk what i did but it dislocated

  • why the hell was this flagged?

  • People with this disorder also have Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome. Me! Very painful and very distracting.

  • People with this problem are often born with an abnormality in the knee. In my knee, the groove that holds the kneecap was too shallow and my kneecap tracked incorrectly, causing countless dislocations from the time I turned 9. Surgery minimized the incidents to nearly zero, but my knees remain sensitive to certain things; I'm predisposed to osteoarthritis and chondromalacia patella (presently dealing with this). The only pain that comes close to kneecap dislocation is labor.

  • Your Cool.

  • i've had stress fractures in my back and i've torn my achilles tendon in half and even i don't pretend that i've gone through more pain than MANY other people in the wold. i feel lucky compared to people with things like bone cancer. get over yourself.

  • I never said any such thing. Take your own advice: get over yourself.

  • you said this: "The only pain that comes close to kneecap dislocation is labor. "

  • Yes, and I'm talking about my experience. I never said what you inferred.

  • lol ok whatever. you implied that kneecap pain is one of the worst pains ever. but go ahead and play semantics if you want...

  • You're the one who got in a twit about it.

  • Additionally, I'm talking about kneecap dislocation, not simply kneecap pain (as you erroneously mentioned). And it IS one of the worst pains ever. I daresay you can't find anyone who has dislocated a kneecap that will be willing to testify it was a joyful or pain-free experience.

  • um, i'm a cheerleader. of course i know people who have dislocated their knee. hon, lots of injuries hurt. get over it. first you go on and on about how you're not saying it's the most painful thing, then you start whining about how horrible it is and that nobody knows anyone who has gone through that much pain...

  • There are various lies in your remark:

Lie #1 - I never said "nobody knows anyone who has gone through that much pain".

Lie #2 - I never indicated in any way that you didn't know people who have dislocated their knee.

Lie #3 - I didn't "go on an on" about how I'm not saying it's the most painful thing - YOU were the one who started this with the "get over yourself" snark.

So, "hon" - how long are you wanting to continue this dance?

  • lol you're the one who wants to go on about the "oh pity me" stuff. i'm just pointing it out.

  • You seem to get off on throwing around insults and false accusations.

And the only thing you've pointed out is how disturbing your own behavior is.

  • the only thing i pointed out is exactly what you've said. but this is getting ridiculous. if you don't want people pointing out things you've said, don't say it in the first place. good bye.

  • No, you snarkily commented on something you erroneously assumed I meant, then continued with an antagonistic tone in your subsequent remarks. I don't care if people comment on something I've said - I will, however, push back when someone acts like a turd. Your initial remark was hostile from the very beginning; perhaps you should think about your wording before you decide to grace people with something you want to "point out". Thanks for acknowledging your departure - good riddance to you.

  • It's been a couple days since Ms. Kate posted her "goodbye" remark here, but since that time the she has initiated three personal messages to me. Talk about ridiculous.

  • I had surgery to fix this on my left knee but my right still does this. It sucks because you cannot do any physical activity.

  • I heard this problem also starts because of 'flat feet'. Is that True?

  • i first thought it was an ass:P

  • lol so did i

  • this is the worst fuckin injury to have

  • Only if the quack cant fix you...

  • its ot an injury most people are born with it i was

  • الركب البييييييض

    الله يخلف على بناتنا بس

  • i have something like this n i had an mri scan. sometimes it will make me fall or trip n can get very painfull. even seeing the doctors i still can't tell ppl what it's called is this what it is?

  • You may have pattellar subluxation which can cause you to fall if you dont have the quad muscles built around your leg, you could also have a ACL tear or a LCL tear, causing the knee to sublux.

  • i have the same exact thing.

  • I have the same problem too. I had surgery but it didnt go away. Is it that my muscles are weak?

  • Hi djeroid2000, having surgery on you knee is pretty sore, ussually they take one part of the muscle on the one side and pull it over to the other so you will regain the muscle capacity of your leg on both sides of the knee. I would suggest biking and swimming as those are great ways to form your quad muscles, because if you have no quadilateral muscles around your knee that makes it tend to sublux, and if you ever have joint pains take a joint lubricant it helps ease the pain alot!:)

  • The problem isn't the knee most likely. Always suspect a neuritis first. If there is chronic pain in your history it can only come from one area of your body anatomically...and it's not the knee!

  • Hi racheldanielle123 i subluxed/had a lateral crutiate tear in my right knee a year ago and i had the same problem with my knee constantly going to the side of my patella. I would suggest biking and magnetic therapy it helps rebuild the quad muscles and it keeps the knee in place. i also would wear a knee tensor bandage, it keeps the knee from popping out. I would also suggest seeing a physiotherapist and a orthopedic doctor for the next few months to make sure everything is ok...

  • i had the same problem for the first month but it got soooo much better by the second and third month. I hope i helped you in some form:( hope your knee gets better!:)

  • i dislocated my right patella, and got surgery like a few weeks after.

and its been a month or more since then

and im still learning to bend it all the way.

and when i bend it it goes out to the side liek yours too.

can soemone tell me if this is a problem, or not?

im 13..and these things sorta freak me out.

  • neat

  • Yup. My left knee had surgury but my right is still doing it. Not as bad. My kneecaps are too high.

  • That is exactly what I was told- knee caps very high.

  • I had exactly the same, even though mine went even more out - on both knees! And I was born with it :( Got a surgery on both 5 years ago. Now I have to do it again because the surgery failed >.> I guess I didn't spend enough time training it afterwards.

One piece of advice to anyone have patella dislocation, get a surgery ASAP and train hard afterwareds, else you'll have to do it again.

  • This comment shows that this person has no orthopaedic knowledge. Subluxation of the patella is a very common problem.

  • haha thats funny

  • You are wrong. You must feel like a fool for this comment.

  • you should be ashamed of your comment americantiflag. Andrew Bynum of the Los Angeles Lakers recently suffered a Subluxation of the patella (kneecap)

  • I suffer from a chronic patellar tilt and subluxation (subluxation-"a complete or partial dislocation of a joint or organ" quoted from wikipedia) of my right knee, going on about 3 years now that was treated with Fulkerson Osteotomy and lateral release that has not stopped the it because I have a damaged medial collateral that prevents a part of my quad from working right. After suffering from this, I KNOW this exists, and in fact know it to be a fairly common condition in individuals.

  • I also have lateral subluxation of my patella and was also diagnosed with patellofemoral syndrome by my orthopedic surgeon and two physical therapists. go look at medical articles on lateral subluxation and tell me that it is just in the spine. you might want to do some research

  • Hallo its very good treatment
