A lot of the drivers have to drive with one hand occasionally these days, because of the F-duct. Only McLaren uses the knees of the drivers, all the other use the hands. But i didn't see Michael do it in this vid. The handwork he does are the normal settings (brakebalance, ect...) you do during a lap.

He might have been using the new F duct system. It allows the cars to go faster in a straight line. To use it, you have to take one of your hands of the steering wheel. Though, I would say the explanation by VETTLE seems more reasonable.
@Boyke4Skilz by regulaations they cant have brake bias dials/handles/switches whatever, situated on the steering wheel. so the teams put it to the side of the cockpit. sometimes on the left, sometimes on the right. all it does is make the brake stronger on the front or weaker and the opposite on the rears. all done mechanically/hydraulically.

@muhdsp No they dont. They already admitted that their aerodynamics on this years car are way off the leading competitors, poor downforce in medium to high speed corners is what is holding them back.

With the new adjustments he placed 4th! Could he do better? Eventough he has a slower car, he defended his 4th place excelent. He didn't become 7 times champion for nothing :)
I'm used too driving with no hands using only my knee :P But with these speeds, letting go of the steering wheel must be like playing russian roulette! I love it!
Looking forward to Monaco!

He doesn't drive with one hand. No F1 driver drives with one hand. He takes his left hand off the steering wheel occasionally in order to change the brake balance. It's a common sight in F1.

Ok, so that's why? I thought he was frustrated because he didn't choose a nother team and a faster car. But well maybe he could change some more things occasionally to make this team a top 5 team!?????? We'l see. But thanks for the enlightenment.

He might have been using the new F duct system. It allows the cars to go faster in a straight line. To use it, you have to take one of your hands of the steering wheel. Though, I would say the explanation by VETTLE seems more reasonable.
It is banned for next season anyway.

@Boyke4Skilz by regulaations they cant have brake bias dials/handles/switches whatever, situated on the steering wheel. so the teams put it to the side of the cockpit. sometimes on the left, sometimes on the right. all it does is make the brake stronger on the front or weaker and the opposite on the rears. all done mechanically/hydraulically.

@VETTELONPOLE Correction, Ayrton Senna drove Monaco with one hand. Actually I guess your right, because Senna isn't just an F1 driver, he is an F1 legend, a legend that performed at a whole new level. 17 years later and I still haven't seen any driver with his style, sense, and determination.
