  • Mary Pickford was born Gladys Smith and though she was an amazing actress when she made it big she refuse to acknowledge her extended family. My grandmother was her cousin and told me how much it hurt the family that she would not even acknowledge them in later years never forget you family they are the most important legacy you can leave

  • Check out my video if you want a quick biography of Pickford's personal life and career.

  • @RachelLovesJB04

She was also called Baby Gladys and also some more facts (had to do a project on her): She was born on April 8th and also she had two actor(ess) younger siblings. Her mom died of breast cancer, and her siblings died of alcohal-related cause and she was buried next to her mother and siblings and also she started acting at age 5.

  • For schoool I have to do an 8 week project on her. first week- write an outline second week- make a newpaper front third week-make a collage with NO white space that is at;east the size of a poster board 4th week- make a 7 minute documentary 5th- find a costume 6th-make a tri fold board 7th- write a biography 8th write and memorize a 30 second and perform it to most of the school

  • 1:48-1:52 what movie clip is that from?

  • Coquette (1929).

  • Coquette (1929), the only movie starring both Mary Pickford and Douglas Fairbanks.

  • The Taming of the Shrew - this is the movie title.

  • Is the footage at 0:10 from Sprarrows? I can't remember anymore...

  • WOW!! This song is too good to be true!

  • Such a beautiful song sung by such a gorgeous singer=D

  • Such a beautiful song. :)

  • love this song ;)

  • Love it. :)

  • Having recently read a series of interviews Mary did between 1913 and 1922 and listened to her 50 minutes of radio interview of 1959 I am astonished at the character of the woman. Mary understood exactly what she was doing, understood acting and was a genuinely sweet and generous lady, but very smart indeed; she lived always grateful to her audience and had a soft spot for the homeless kids all her life. Amazing story lost in history here.

  • Nice to hear about Mary Pickford. I love the song. I own a teaset that belonged to Mary Pickford. Am thinking of auctioning it off to fund a film I want to do to help cancer patients.

  • Really? That's quite amazing :)

  • Each of them were pretty incredible in their achievements. Mary especially. In about 10 years she went from a new 16 year old $10 actress to studio owner and known around the world, she invented proper screen acting in the silents. DW Griffths made 750 odd moves from 1908 and so on...these people invented literally invented Hollywood industry, were the first and in retrospect the zenith of film making and fame in its whole history. None have surpassed Pickord.

  • $10 a week was a lot in those days. She worked in the theater with David Belasco before her film debut, which is a HUGE acomplishment. And, though being fan of Mary Pickford, she wasn't all that sweet. She fought a lot with D.W. "David" Griffith and other crew members. But she was always nice to the extras. Her two adopted children recalled in later interviews their childhood was horrible and Pickford and her third husband Buddy Rogers were horrible parents.

    BTW: THE SONG RULES!

  • Who would think that a singer/songwriter could come up with such a beautiful melody about a Hollywood business deal that happened in 1919. Beyond Belief!!

  • I think it's crazy that someone wrote a song about this. I'm not alone in loving the partnership of those genuises! Cool song, I appreciate her appreciation of them all. Doug Fairbanks and Charlie were BFFs, ha ha

  • Mary Pickford Is One Of The Most Beautiful Actresses Ive ever learned off & seen pictures of! This song is stunning a real anthem to the early Silent film Industry !! Real Innocent "

  • the good and the best products are ever simple, so good

    GOOD VIDEO !!!!!!!!!!

  • i saw her yesterday live in zurich and she was great

  • What a nice song. My great aunt Betty went to Beverly Hills and got a beautiful tea set that belonged to Mary Pickford. She bought it at a fundraising auction in the early days.

  • Beautiful song, beautiful voice, nice video. Love it very much. :)

  • beautiful.

    i love it:)

  • BRILLIANT! Much better than the trash that Winehouse (her schoolmate) is passing off as art.

  • i love her voice,it's so calming

  • Indeed, it really is. :)

  • I simply just love the lyrics!

She has the most beautiful voice!

  • I love, love, love this song. Best lyrics I ever heard in my life.

  • Good song..lyrically not so great..but some songs dnt hav 2 always be lyrically great..some just put a smile on yr face..n this song is a gud example of that..and very unique as well..

  • Good song..lyrically not so great..but its unique..and thats what music is about..:D

  • I actually really like the lyrics, I think its very cute :)

  • Nice song as all her songs are. But i think she should change style or get out of her simple lyrics and try something more significant.

  • It's a really nice video. I's a really funny movie an the lyrics are nice to.

  • whilst i am glad that these artists 'became united' this song is just a list.

  • ur so gorgeous katie.

  • I love the hum of this song, you know?

Fills my heart up. Aaaaaaah *sigh*

    She is amazing.

  • Delightful. How nice to remember the original "united artists" with this lovely little song!

  • this is a fab vid/song of a fab era, mary pickford was beautiful like this song

  • Lovely voice. Dull & banal song.

  • Nice voice :)

  • Worst lyrics ever

  • Brilliant!

  • I love Katie! This is a cute video and cute simple song. I don't understand all the people having a fit about the lyrics! It's definitely a unique idea for a song, and I love that she's singing it. I'm glad these old stars of Hollywood are remembered in a song! :)

  • I couldn't agree more! :)

  • I think this is so cute! Well done to whomever edited the video - must have been time consuming to put together all those clips! :)

  • How reassuring to see that Mike Batt so consistently insults the art of songwriting with his piss-poor progeny, of which this is one of the very silliest.

It's such a shame, as Katie Melua has an amazing voice.

  • Douglas Fairbanks/He was so handsome/He wore a moustache/Must-a had much cash too/Worth a king's ransom/Charlie Chaplin/He was invited/When these artists became united... is this some kind of joke... words fail me!!! This is the most ludicrous song I have ever heard in my entire life. Where is this girls manager (Mike Batt)

Oh yeah, I know... "Of course, I've got nothing against Katie Melua personally and I wish her every success in her career."

  • b-e-a-utiful !!! like everything what's connected with Katie!

  • I very like she's voice ;)

    Nice song and video .

  • Lovely tribute to some great film legends!!! Well done Katie!!

  • Katie is special, she´s a copy of no one and no one can copy her!
