  • ntaw what a cute dog! i've been asking everyone about my dog but no one has answered me yet...my dog princess is a shih tzu cross poodle, she had one of her 2 cataracts removed and she had the surgery on tuesday but came home yesterday so today is the 2nd day we have her back and when i look in her eye on the side it still looks a bit blue, is it normal, she has brown eyes...how was your pug's eyes, as in the colour? please help...pleassee!!!

  • @lovelovemeee - Trev's eyes didnt change colour but they did have small bubble within the cornea for a while. They were absorbed and she achieved a reasonably amount of vision once again. It wasn't as succesful as I had thought it might be but it was certainly better than it was before and gave Trev's last years the quality of life we wanted her to have. I'm sorry but I can't offer you much advice on changing eye colours.

  • @n4292936 thanks for replying, it's not really like a colour change, it sounds like the same thing...near her cornea thanks for answering, i hope my princess can see better. The surgery costs so much so i really want it to help her!

  • @lovelovemeee - That's OK. I hope you're little one if fine. The surgery has a very high success rate so I'm sure she'll be fine. Good luck!

  • @n4292936 Thanks so much! She's sleeping now, poor thing is so drowsy from the steroid tablets :)

  • We put down are dog, He was 15, such in great health a few months ago. Amazing how fast it happens. He once fell down the stairs and it was the beggining of the end for him. He went blind, lost his hearing, barely could smell. He started to get really tin, cuz he wouldn't eat his dog food. It really hurts, boy do I miss him. I wish I had the money to get this, I didn't even know it was possible. He had an amazing life. Great dog, great companion Riki Love You always.

  • My dog had two cataracts, but we could only afford to get one out (and he is 16years old). The surgery was two days ago, but even after two days, he still can't see and is bumping into walls and treading cautiously like he was doing with cataracts. Did your dog see right away, or did this take time? I thought mine would see right away and am a little disappointed so far. Dr. says retina, optic nerve are fine. He told me the dog should see, but the dog sure doesn't act it so far.

  • @Deneb33 As I recall Trev wasn't very mobile in the first day. By the week's end we started to note a real improvement as she was better able to track objects and see obstacles - but that's just one dog's experience. Good luck to you and yours.

  • @n4292936 ok thanks, I'll give it more time.

  • God Bless - you are so lucky, we just lost our black pug Bugsy - he was blind from cataracts in both eyes caused by the diabetes. My neighbor accidentally hit him with the car last week. I wish he was healthy enough to do the surgery. Your pug isvery lucky to have you! I wish you all the best!

  • I hope shes okay

  • Thanks. Trev is doing wonderfully now. She's back to catching snacks mid-air and romping around the back yard like nothing was ever wrong!

  • Oh, i'm glad :)

  • Lovely clear eyes. I hope she is doing really well. Who did it?

  • Eye Clinic for Animals - Australia in Sydney performed the surgery. So far, four days out, no complications and all is going well.
