ok to all you who think he's not auto-tuned. he is. get over it. I'm as big a hillsong fan as any of you, and i came here to watch the drums. but you can't watch 1:30 when jad says "glorified" and tell me it's not auto-tuned. that's just one example. get a grip.
He is not auto-tuned. When hillsong edits they do more musical editing than anything else. Trust me I've heard Brooke Fraser sing raw in recordings with ZERO mixing....she's flawless. You need to realize these vocalists are professionally trained. All of them are both musically and vocally. As a fellow worship leader I know the work that goes into it. Jad is not at all Autotuned
nid hlp... i dun have a second guitarist to cover me when playing those riffs and it will be very plain if i ply riffs but no backing guitar... any idea how to solve???
@hhhkkkhhhjkjki so your the only guitar player theres no acoustic or anything? cause if you don't and if you have a keyboardist then he can play like an organ pad like the one that is in this song you can just turn that up and that can be your back up when you play those riffs or if your a pretty studly guitar player just get a loop pedal and be your own back up guitar player thats what lincoln brewster does but thats really really hard to do :)
@WithMyAcoustic don't get me wrong im a huge hillsong fan, and jad's awesome. but its hard to argue that, all you gotta do is listen. and listen to the difference between songs that jad leads on the live albums, and this video. the auto tune makes his voice all nasal.
@17shadowoftheday of course live albums they edit. they have to. but when you talk about live live as in concert live, jad's voice isn't auto tuned. It's just pure blessings.
@17shadowoftheday its not erally auto tune, obvisouly for live recording they have to fix up some things with their voice or something cuz its not going to sound perfect. and Jad probably sounds different cuz not everyones oging to sound the same every moment of their lives
@17shadowoftheday totally auto-tuned. that "warble" and "flutter" doesn't come naturally. those are artifacts that come from that plug-in. but that doesn't mean he isn't a great vocalist.
@AuStiNkRoss34243 Hmmm. Actually, I do. I work with the plug-in a lot when i TUNE vocals, which is what Antares designed it for. Before producers started using it with faster retune speeds (ie. Cher, T-Pain effect), the goal was to get the vocals to sound as close to perfect pitch as possible without sounding unnatural. However, the tuning in this video is not so transparent and the fast retune speed is quite noticeable. It could also be Melodyne. But thank you for your ignorance!
@americanXXXlove I see what you're sayin, but it is quite possible that he singing isn't auto-tuned. It is probably only SLIGHTLY edited for the DVD, simply because that's normally whats done before something like this is released. I can say that because I know many people who sing who have that "warble" and "flutter" when they sing live. :D
I wouldn't think it would be autotuned either, however, after listening to him sing the word "forever" at 2:48, you can definitely tell there is a slight autotune inbetween the two syllables and notes "for" and "ever". Anyone else agree or am I hearing things? I am not in ANY way saying Jad's voice isn't absolutely amazing, because it is. He's by far my favorite voice from hillsong and it doesn't bother me at all to think they'd use a little autotune to make it sound that much more on pitch.
Guys just hear him at the concerts, I went to the recent one of Battle Cry in New Jersey, that Jad's voice sounds the same, And I know some bands have there voice autotuned, but watch him live and you'd be surprised
@GooootZ dude l believe in natural talent l believe that jads voice is natural but just so you know theres an autotuner for live singing called mainstage apparently chris cornell "the man with the greatest rock voice of our time" used it so nowadays hearing someone live counts for nothing just forget about natural or fake coz you'll never know the 100% truth just enjoy and let the music speak to you coz god is in the lyrics and the heart behind the worship
The melody helps it to get that feeling. And he don't really use a good song techniqe, he press forwad the high notes that makes it sound very compressed.
I'm reading music and have two song teachers and have been doing a lot homerecordings and such...
@shawndavidlangley his voice does sound autotuned. Not saying it in a negative way but I know an autotuned voice when I hear it. Doesn't take away the fact that Jad is an awesome praise leader :)
@pangearox until you understand the work and time they put in to working with and training their vocalists you'll keep thinking he's autotuned.

@Stevo10TheRiot come on, everyone uses Melodyne now, to say that its not tuned at all is just not true.

@hhhkkkhhhjkjki Try to use delay, it makes your guitar playing sound fuller, Hendroff also uses a lot of delay in most of the songs

@candymanbrian It sure is autotune. some people forget autotune can be used live. my singer in an old electro band used it.
