  • I was a kid when this happened, my older brother bought the 'Woodstock' double album and the only song on it I liked was Sha Na Na's 'At The Hop'

  • the only good group at Woodstock!

  • Bet they were well pleased when the film came out and they realised that they really did see what they had kept quiet about over the past year-for fear of being laughed at&thought of as bonkers by thier mates,

  • HA-some of them in the audience look extreemly confused-like thier not sure if it's a hallucanation or what!!!!!!!

  • what is that song at the beginning credits? before wipeout

  • @cheeseppuff That's "Tears On My Pillow" From the Grease sound track.

  • @CHUCKYDAPILL hey, fight that guy!!!!!!!!!

  • portuguese also love woodstock music and spirit. Peace and love.

  • 8:34 UNCLE RICO SAYS: WHAT THE FUCK?

  • Wipe out is not soul or RnB.

  • GOT TO love Sha Na Na! The EXTREMELY rare example of a white band who did a full stage show ala black soul and r&b acts. Whose more fun than Sha Na Na?????????!!!!!!!!!

  • wtf this guy thinks its still 1955

  • although he is playing somewhat sloppy, i could never play like that and move around like that at the same time

  • 8:30 He is like WHAT!! THE!! FUCK?!?!?!

  • the original release dates on these songs are as follows: "wipe out" 1963, "teen angel" 1959, "book of love" 1958, "duke of earl" 1962. so in 1969, the oldest of the songs was 11 years old & the most recent was only 6 years old. it would be like if a band playing at the 2012 coachella festival did songs from 2001-2006, e.g. "clint eastwood" by gorillaz & "crazy" by gnarls barkley.

  • @wallofvideo 6 years meant a lot more back then. Music changed a lot more quickly and was forgotten a lot faster. Look at Lenny Kaye's Nuggets album. He was releasing obscure old music-hits from the mid 60s, in 1972. It's like the way a person changes more going from 13 to 19 than from 53 to 59.

  • @BlackMonk66 that's a good way of putting it, especially that last sentence.

  • Hard to believe this is over 41 years ago. It just does not feel like it was anywhere near that long ago. Remember being 15 years old for me feels like only 5 years ago not 41 years ago. Life goes so fast.

  • The first time I saw Sha Na Na was on the Woodstock Movie in 1970.

  • This was the year before Bowser joined them. Bowser did perform live with them at both outdoor and indoor show events around 1970-71.

  • They were the second to last performance on before Jimi Hendrix came on the Monday Morning August 18th.

  • haha i had no idea they were at woodstock

  • I bet The Village People liked this group

  • @bretoff You would be surprised to know half of the Village People are actually completely straight with only interest in Women. That was a shock to me when I found that out. Half of them are not even Bi-sexual.

  • One of the members of the Sha Na Na's is currently my Swahili professor

  • History's greatest promotional booking fail.

  • @ITALOVER2 I would definitely rather be missing some teeth and have a big fat wife than be jewish.Kikes are worse than niggers and spics combined.Hitler also said, aside from their big noses, greedy behavier and sloped heads, jews have a really disgusting smelly body odor.Unfortunately I know what he was talking about.Living in the Poconos,I smelled quite a few NYC jews.It actually made me put my groceries back a couple times.Too bad the oven wasn't quite big enough for your grandparents.

  • @CHUCKYDAPILL Why do people spew such poison and ruin the enjoyment of the music. If they don't like it why are they listening? If they don't like it, just move on to something they do.

  • This is the group that plays at the prom in the film Grease.

  • @CHUCKYDAPILL I read somewhere that Hendrix actually liked them... they're a good band, they only became more popular at Woodstock, you hear the crowd, they like them...

  • Who is the vocalist on Teen Angel? i don't recognize him.

  • @amadeusamwater Rob Leonard. Brother of the creator, George Leonard. He's now a professor at Hofstra

  • @thelebaron91 Thanks. Several professors and doctors came out of that original group. Music was the least of their talents.

  • @TheBBQPope I think you are right, I heard the same story.. Audio of Get A Job exists. But we can only Hope Video turns up some day...

  • This is the Magic of Youtube! All of a sudden after 43 years you discover this unknown, hidden gem!

    Pls post more!

  • @hurricane2591 Thanks! I'm always looking for Videos of the band. I will post them as soon as I find more....

  • @99bluesboy.....Thank You..I left his comments up because I wanted everyone to see that people like him still exist.....I thought it was his idea of humor. Yes, Jimi Hendrix saw Sha Na Na at a NYC club. Also Bill Graham, and Keith Moon were big fans of the Sha Na Na...

  • to 70goldtop:

Your ignorance is only exceeded by your stupidity and advertising it in print. Word has it Hendrix saw Sha Na Na perform and liked them so much he had the promoters bring them up to Woodstock. So, like or not they were there sharing the stage because of Hendrix. Do a bit more research and you'll find out the members were a cross section of students at Columbia University, so your anti-Semitic rant only demonstrates you swim at the bottom of the gene pool.

  • @99bluesboy If that's true I won't listen to Hendrix anymore. But I highly doubt it's true. You fucking jew lover. If I swam at the bottom of the gene pool I'd be swimming with the jews, which I certainly don't do so blow it out your ass.Kike.

  • Hahahaha what a missfit of a band at woodstock. hahaha

  • only all the acid saved their lives...WHAT BRASS!

  • Very catchy

  • Alright I admit it....I do like Bowser

  • @70goldtop I really don't buy the Racest rants. I need to know...Are you just a Internet Tuff Guy, or are you really a tuff guy?

  • @CHUCKYDAPILL Meet me in a public place and you'll find out

  • @70goldtop @70goldtop Pubic Place....There would be a witness, pick a better place...

  • @70goldtop

...Why must it be a public place?

  • @CHUCKYDAPILL hey boys, get a life and get over it...at least don't flame each other on a musical venue. LOL, take up soccer

  • @CHUCKYDAPILL Yeah, since he did it first at Monterey, back in 1967!

  • Odd how they played after Crosby, Stills & Nash, who played in the wee hours of the dark morning, then they play at the break of dawn and Jimi came on around 9:00 a.m. and played a 2 hour set. Three radically different bands in a row!

When I had first read about Woodstock many yrs ago, I remember thinking Sha Na Na was there? I knew who they were & their gold glitter outfits just didn't seem to fit the ambience. But they did a good set even though the crowd had dwindled by that time.

  • Fascinating...admittedly still a bit cartoonish, but wtf, they managed to keep the sound going at a time when too many (I personally never did and never have) had forgotten it or were moving on...shame the parody overshadowed their musical (and vocal) chops, but it worked...superfine post, thank you...

  • Wow I didn´t know that this song was played on Woodstock too, seems that every great song I know was played there (AND every song played on Woodstock is great ;) )

  • Harold TURN UP THE MIC!!!

  • @cw12054 It was "Harold, turn off the mic!!"

  • So this and at 'The Hop' is all the footage of Sha Na Na live at Woodstock that is known to exists or this more?

  • @kissmusiclover I hope there is more out there. If I find it, I will post it right away.

  • BEST WOODSTOCK BAND-- AND I MEAN IT !

  • Wow, this is history. Thanks for the post.

  • @AbuAvital Thanks! The hard work was worth it. I'm so glad you liked it!

  • @AbuAvital My pleasure, I hope to find the rest of there set.

  • I used to go to all the Rockabilly concerts when I was in my teens and early 20's. I wish there were more bands like ShaNaNa and Flash Cadillac today.

  • @maahal Flash Cadillac was also a great band. I've seen some Good Rockabilly bands around. There is a very good band called "HOT ROD LINCOLN" From the west coast.

  • @TubeNumber1USA I agree, 41 years and still rocking. Thanks!

  • THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR POSTING THAT....TRY TO BETTER QUALITY IN A PROGRA, PLEASE

  • @ovelonse Thanks! I will try to clean up the quality. This was a great set from the band!

  • Thank you! This is a hoot!

  • these guys are on fire! what an excellent performance

  • Donny leading on Book of Love, omigod !!!

  • @jusdeananas Oh Yea! Donny is a great singer.

  • Thanks for posting. Really liked Duke of Earl though much of the video was taken from thier At the Hop video. Or maybe the other way around.

Don't matter. A great time at Woodstock 40 years later with Sha Na Na the best act IMO of them all.

  • @Rusfi16 Same here, Love the song. You noticed the editing also, That was clips from "AT THE HOP"

  • How do people acquire the footage of this stuff without personally knowing Artie Kornfeld/Michael Lang?

  • What a trip he had!!! wow LSD early in the morning.. Love him... thanks for sharing this video .

  • too awesome!! On wipeout...the guitar wasn't even plugged in!! Luv it!

  • Wow, amazing clips you've put up on SNN! Where did you get all of this footage?

  • was that henry gross, doing all those moves with his guitar?

  • @MarieW521 Hi! Yes, Thats Henry! Before I saw this, the only thing I had seen him do was sing "REMEMBER THEN" without his guitar..........THIS IS REALLY COOL!!

  • @CHUCKYDAPILL

if i'm not mistaken Henry Gross was only 18 at that time, which makes him the youngest performer at Woodstock, the rest of the guys on SNN are either 19 or 20. really cool indeed, Thanks for posting this CHUKYDAPILL.

  • I believe surreal drummer Michael Shrieve of Santana was the youngest at 17 and Buzzy Feiten (yes, THAT Buzz Feiten of the Tuning Systems) was 17 or 18 as well

  • @80sbuttrock

I looked it up just now and found out that Michael Shrieve was 20 yrs old in Woodstock, which would still make him one of the youngest, but not the youngest.

  • @80sbuttrock

I looked it up just now and found out that Michael Shrieve was 20 yrs old in Woodstock, which would still make him one of the youngest, but not the youngest. Henry Gross is still the youngest that I know.

  • @80sbuttrock

I looked it up just now and found out that Michael Shrieve was 20 yrs old in Woodstock, which would still make him one of the youngest, but not the youngest. Henry Gross was born on April 1st 1951, which makes him 18 and still the youngest that I know.

  • Totally Awesome or should I say Real Groovy Man! Thanks sooooooo much for posting this!

  • I wonder, What were the hippies thinking at 8:00 Monday Morning, when they hit the stage?!!!!

  • @CHUCKYDAPILL They were probably thinking, "did I take some of the brown acid?" or "man I got some good pot" LOL!!!

  • @CHUCKYDAPILL That would be something~

  • @gopherscout Thanks!

  • This was so sweet-thanks for sharing all these videos!
