I've been watching Merlin the move from 1998 and morgana is evil there and all but if this serie is going to be so "exact" then why isn't she having arthurs child?
All it came down to was either kill Morgana or let Morgause kill Uther and possibly Arthur as well. So he choose to save Arthur and Uther since he believed them to be more important. To those who thinks he was wrong he was not. He did try to extend a helping hand to Morgana but she instead started to go down the wrong road so she became his enemy.
But if Merlin hadn't poisoned her then Morgana probably wouldn't have spoken up/done anything about what was happening. Then everyone would be dead and all that would be left would be morgana/morgause so morgause would end up changing/brainwashing morgana either way.
Poor Merlin, that was a tough decision to make on his part. I liked Morgana a lot but I think with a great reluctance I would've done the same thing, the only difference is I would've kept an antidote to the poison with me as well. I liked the old Morgana better than the new one. The New and more up to date Morgana may be more powerful than before, but she is also so much more like Uther now. Consumed with Pride, rage and bitterness, unable to let go and move forward.

i agree with that. i think she never had some support or help from gaius and merlin. they know about she be magic and never help her, they abandon her. so morgause come in.
Is Nimeuh coming back I thought she was dead she was a good character. Katie will need to up her game to really show the witchy side of her character., she get acted of the screen by the boy mordred. I am intrigued by Morgause very good actress. Mordred when he is on screen you just think evil kid he is that good in the role. But katie will should have gone to drama school still she should improve in s3 as she will have a lot to do. Not in S2 much as filming The Queen for Channel 4.
there's something of a rumour that nimeuh is coming back and that her, morgana and morgause will come together to destroy camelot and uther. I hope nimeuh comes back anyway. she was a good villain and a good character. besides, Michelle Ryan plays her and she's awesome.
@chezkimo I would be ECSTATIC if this were true. I loved Nimueh as a villain and I didn't think they'd be able to top her. Morgause proved me wrong! She is just stunning and her motives are not entirely wrong. If the 3 of them team up it would be absolutely epic and would hopefully bring the death of Uther, who in my opinion is the true villain of the series.
Morgana will be back in Series 3. It's confirmed. I have two tell you people that in series 3 some character, and i mean Merlin and Morgana are changed forevor. It will get more darker Series 3, but it will have the same charm funny thing, but it will get darker and detailer if it comes to the story lines. Seriously i CAN'T WAIT TILL SEPTEMBER> :P.
Merlin.....I am so mad at him trying to kill one of my favorite characters... Morgana needed him the most, she trusted him only to get stabbed in the back by him. I know that Morgana is supposed to be evil in legends and stuff but I just love her so much, I wonder if Morgana will try to get Merlin back for what he did to her. I miss Morgana from the first season. Hope Katie has more screen time. Such a long wait for Merlin's third season. Wonder if Morgause will teach Morgana about her powers.

Basically every single problem the characters have in this show could be easily solved with a few simple conversations. I want to like the show but it's just so terribly written.
@09raindrop I have to agree. He will have played a large role in her turning evil. We'll never know if had he been honest with her and tried to be a true friend whether she would have still gone down the same road. She felt so alone and he could have been there for her. All of these deceptions and secrets are getting a bit tiring. I hope season 3 takes us into new territory.
@fong03 Not really, I think she basically started being evil for no reason, and so cold to gwen, and then, trusting an outsider, if she just stuck with Merlin and proved her trustworthiness, she might've been good.
Still, Morgana was awesome!!!! Now I'm truly frightened of what she'll do.

She felted completely alone knowing no one else with magic and having no one to guide her like Merlin did. Her dreams were torturing her and it was Morgause who helped her. @1Lanavis1 did not know that. I've seen a lot of merlin lore too. The one with sam neill, and a few others are pretty nice. Ive watched avalon also and it was very good. they all have very different takes on the lore as well. My fav was the 80s movie excalibur. Close second is the monty python spoof :p
Starz channel in the us recently had a take on the lore with merlin being less magical and more of a string puller. He'd put ideas in peoples heads and make things happen. One of the few times he did use magic he ended up killing a legendary blacksmiths daughter whose name happend to be excalibur. She stole the sword onto a thin ice lake and fell in and died holding the sword up to merlin. Making her a martyr and a legend herself.

I actually don't think Morgana really knew what was going on with this attack. I think she agreed to help Morgause without knowing what was happening and she didn't know what was going on with the sleeping or anything. I think when Merlin chose to poison her, that cinched that she would never trust him again. From that point on, she was on Morgause's side because she believed Morgause was the only one she could trust.

Well, it's not like it was a huge surprise to anyone. The episode before this is the one where Morgana says she disowns Uther, yes? This entire season has been building up to Morgana trying to find a way to get rid of Uther and his cruelty to people like her. So, of course Morgana is going to say anything so she can feel safe again.
@09raindrop Merlin did try to help her out and lead her towards the road to use her magic for good. I believe had he seen her trying to do that he would have revealed his powers to her. But he saw he steadily going the wrong way so he could not give her support any more.
i'm not sure morgouse IS more powerful than merlin. are we forgetting what he did to the previous " most powerful sorceress" he blew her up. merlin is increadlibly powerful but doesn't use it. and no morgannas not dead because she has to come back later with mordred and be all evil and bad. something i am very much looking forward to lol

She gets scared because only Merlin knows what poison he used on Morgana. If Morgause kills Merlin (which she's quite capable of doing, clearly), she would never discover the secret of which poison he used (and thus, the secret of what antidote she needs to give Morgana to save her).

Yeah, I've heard some rumors about what's coming up:
- Uther becomes even badder than the 1st 2 seasons (apparently starts a 2nd Great Purge)
- Arthur finds out about Merlin's magic
- Morgana/Morgause/Mordred will return
- Arthur/Gwen's continuing relationship
- The Sins of the Father plot will be explored more throughout the season
- Merlin finally gives Arthur Excalibur
I'm not sure if all are true, but this is what I heard. Just thought I'd share w/ everyone!

I couldn't believe Merlin did that to morgana perosnally, i guess he does have a bit of a dark side after all...

I hope we get to see more of Morgana the next season! I think she and Morgause are going to fight against Merlin and Arthur. I am sure it's gonna be really interesting! I can't wait!

at the beginning of this clip, when merlin stands up its as though we see a side of merlin we've never seen before. he takes command.
