  • LOVE THIS, EVERYONE.

  • Stay Cool Mutha Fuckas Ya'll Know the Rules... Ya'll can say whatever ya'll want about the production or the horn, but the lyrics are 100% Roots;

    O yea, Stay Cool

  • My Sh!t right here.. Roots crew pioneers of underground

  • this song is sampled from the song "damn" by nightmares on wax

  • @ibnar911 which Nightmares on Wax sampled from De La Soul.

  • dirt

  • Lol at my generation....I remember when i bought this joint and used to walk the halls blaring this shit in high school ......Niggas didn't know who The Roots were. Guess thats why I didn't go back too?!?! Makes me wonder....

  • The Roots are so special becuase you can listen to every song without pressing that next song button. The instruments and different sounds they incorporate to create beautiful rhythms makes them untouchable.

  • I love the instruments in here, I really believe that hip hop, the beats at least have to be more creative and actually use instruments and have a sense of real rhythm.

  • @jenghi21 not as creative as you think. its a sample from another hiphop/triphop ensemble called NIGHTMARES ON WAX. Check em out. they are an instrumental group with few vocals. u'll dig it if you like this sound

  • @tropicalpimp Which is a sample from Al Hirt-Harlem Hendoo

  • @fudgebarjohn hirt be blowin that horn baby

  • @jenghi21 try Al Hirt. That's the sample. Everybody owes their success to somebody else it seems.

  • @jenghi21 its a De La Soul sample.

  • Comment removed

  • @jenghi21 the sample is: Al Hirt - Harlem Hendoo

  • @jenghi21

this beat is a loop, its an al hirt sample, theres no live instruments on this beat.

  • @jenghi21

This beat is made by a sample of "Al Hirt" Harlem Hendoo, Still fire. Samples can be made just as dope as live instruments. That is Hip-Hop infact

  • @jenghi21 ego trippin (Part II) De La Soul

  • got me ingitin the potent marijuana leaf, tryin to play it cooler than a polar bear colony

  • I got the tipping point (my 6th roots albums) and this is the best song on it with a distance! I don't know if you can say it like that in english, but it rightfuly expresses how I feel bout it, lol

  • @DaanOFF321 actually, the correct english phrase would be, "this is the best song on it BY FAR."

  • @UhuruSasaRBG ah, thought so, thx

  • they didn't have band like the roots

  • roots =dopeness

  • @heedz08 if you jam the roots check my song out you will cut for it

  • @5burowz Thats really not what it's about.

  • bass for your face highs for your eyes!

    AMGG!!!

  • roots just stayin cool on another dope track

  • If these so-called Hip Hop stations were about some Hip Hop you would have heard this on the radio.

    Radio is about BITCH HOP.

  • anyone who disliked this is gonna have fun in hell

  • Can't get enough of the roots.

Subscribe to mu channel if you like underground hip hop or old school.

there are also many facts about hip hop too.

  • I love this album cover of Malcolm X

  • ?uestlove isn't just the drummer...he produces all these beats

  • "lettin the breeze hit us"

  • who else also rhymes over this beat?

  • @yastuvoSL similar beat... De La Soul Ego Trippin Part 2

  • six people arent cool

  • @derekistheman12 hahaha on the reaalzz

  • "hip-hop my main bitch got a few on the side"

  • i see we got six haters

  • If these motherfuckers running around here dressed like a damned rummage sale with little tight ass jeans knew shit about Hip Hop this song would eclipse ANYTHING PLIES, Gucci or any of those type dudes could ever THINK about doing.

  • Chill track.

  • Is that supposed to be Malcolm X?

  • @baller4lyfe2008: that is Malcolm Little before he was Bro. Malcolm (El Hajj)

  • new orleans up in here. al hirt. hip hop

  • whose this dude on the cover.

  • @mighty9100 malcom x

  • it's actually cap'n kirk of the roots posing as melvin van peebles on the cover of sweet sweetback's badassss song, the first black exploitation flick as they all did on the alternative covers of the album

  • Black Thought lyrics + Al Hirt's horn = CLASSIC

  • "Have you heard Do You Want More?, Illadelph Halflife, or Things Fall Apart? A lot of people are just realizing The Roots are amazing in the last 5 years, they have been amazing for 15 years."

  • Nice picture of "Detroit-Red"

  • @lowendfella Word! Not many people know who that is.

  • @groundpounder35 isn't that Malcom X?

  • @TMundo Yes it is Malcolm, before his days as a minister. He was known as Detroit Red, and was good friends with Redd Foxx, who happened to be a boxer in those days. Anyway I believe this is a mug shot photo.

    Peace

  • @lowendfella isn't that Malcom X?

  • still fresh after all these years........makin real music. all about those live instruments uggghhhhhh

  • very refreshing

  • This is _real_ HipHop...no 'gangster'shit!

Best HipHop Band I ever heard :)

  • All them Fake Gangsters biting the last man's style and flow need to STAY COOL and get with this shyt right here!!!!!

  • Roots go so hard! Yo this MS Maque, chillin wit T. Wells aka 'Lab Masta T'! This so nice and the radio wouldn't know nothing about this. Hip Hop lives on! Mississippi representing, signing off.

  • Check the version of Damu too, Damu - Egoo trippin

  • I love DOOM, Aes Rock, El P, Jay D, M.E.D., Mr. Lif, etc. - all of the great emcees; but Black Thought just knows how to flow, he's so fucking insane man, he's up there with the best and will probably remain as such in Hip Hop history.

  • @CamerOneiric I wouldn't hesitate to put Black in the top spot

  • funky 4 sho!!! puts me in a mood that most cats dont know bout

  • Al Hirt - Harlem Hendoo

  • This beat is sick.

  • @sgtrosenberg man I LOVE THIS CREW!!!!

  • illest song on this album

  • man, I dont know which I like more..roots or de la..

i'm torn between the two tracks.

  • ive only seen de la live but id have to say the legendary

  • Have you heard Do You Want More?, Illadelph Halflife, or Things Fall Apart? A lot of people are just realizing The Roots are amazing in the last 5 years, they have been amazing for 15 years.

  • @ibemerjb123abc

No doubt, I first got heavy into the Roots not long after Game Theory came out, and I've never looked back. They (and Pandora) are responsible for my discovery of real hip-hop, rather than hip-pop, which is the only thing you will hear on FM radio.

    This track is fire.

  • you've been lied to playsheezee... that shit you hear on FM radio is NOT hip hop.

it's pop music with young kids TRYING to rap over gay bubble gum & cotton candy sounds they call 'hip hop beats'.

  • Yup, just plain terrible.

  • @ibemerjb123abc

As short as life is, it's really a sad fact that most English-speakers don't get to hear Black Thought spit just one verse, it would totally ultramagnetize their brain.

  • @ibemerjb123abc Yes I have, Do You Want More is what hooked my ass.

  • @ibemerjb123abc tru that man

  • @ibemerjb123abc word bro, theyre the best group as far as im concerned.

  • @ibemerjb123abc dsfaaaaaaaaaaaaa

  • @ibemerjb123abc True, they're probably the most consistent group in music overall, the amount of excellent tracks they put out with every album over the years.

  • @ibemerjb123abc ROOTS=THE LIVEST LIVE BAND THAT"S ALIVE IN LIFE.

  • @ibemerjb123abc Black Thought is one of THE MOST underrated MC's and ?uestlove OMG he is Hip Hop GENIUS!!!

  • @JEFFCLEVANDR ?uestlove is a good hip hop drummer, he's no hip hop genius. he's nothing without instrumentals/mcs. he's just a black travis barker.

  • @gleader Black Travis Barker? Hahaha wake up, man. Ever heard 75 Bars? Questlove is the shit; he needs no help from anybody.

  • @theKCRoyalty you mean where he's doing nothing special on the drums and he has the entire band carrying him? nothing he's doing in that song is genius by any means. i take it you've never played any instrument ever, otherwise you wouldn't be so easily impressed and completely blown away by something good but very very far from genius or amazing. you fool.

  • @ibemerjb123abc Hehe i just found out.

  • @ibemerjb123abc Word Life...great comment

  • ego trippin is a good song, the part where they scream is ridulous though hahaha. the roots put it down.

  • i know i like that version of this beat better the screaming is dumb though.

  • This is my favorite album by them

Also love Common Dust by them(song)

  • love the beat. De La Soul -- Ego Trippin

  • Do you want more is up there too

  • i dunno dawg Things Fall Apart goes hard. man funk that all their shit is hardbody.

Roots best live Hip Hop Band

  • its easy to be the best live hip hop band when your'e the ONLY live hip hop band out there....

not to take away from the roots' talent, just keepin it real.

  • @tropicalpimp kinda but not really true, ive seen snoop, gza, and atmosphere all use bands (Gza's band was really good)

  • AWESOME!

  • beautiful!!

  • love it...why didn't they release this one

  • They did!

    -StoicUNO!

  • there are a lot of similarities between this and Ego Trippinn' (Part Two) by de la soul. just listen to the beat of that one, and you can hear it on this track

  • Because they both sample Al Hirt's "Harlem Hendoo".

  • no shit

  • similarities???lol

they are EXACTLY the same with a touch of new sounds here n there!

  • LOVE IT... BEAT IS HARD

  • For some reason this song came to mind while on youtube. This is one of the best tracks on the "Tipping Point" album.

  • one my favorites on my ipod..

  • not there, but their.

and its tipping with two P's, not tiping.

otherwise one o' their best tracks.

  • Bass for your face

    Highs for your eyes

  • STAY COOOOOOOOOOOOOL!!!

  • Hah I guess you beat me to it....I was toooo slow :P
