By his example the Dalai Lama shows by his example the value of love, respect and compassion. He offers these in equal measure to everyone regardless of the rank within society of the recipient. What does it say of China that repeatedly it refuses to take the hand of friendship which he has repeatedly offered? He has offered it not only in this acceptance speech but in the many speeches he has given throughout the years that his land has been occupied by China.
