  • I noticed in the play when Tasker talks about Bessie Denker murdering members of her own family, I find it significant that nothing is mentioned about Denker's mother, alluding that, like Christine, she, too, caught on to her daughter's crimes and tried to do away with her but failed, and that the corrupt bloodline is doomed to repeat history over and over.

  • actually in the novel, denker's mother died from stomach ailments, implying that bessie poisoned her. her father died in an accident involving a threshing machine. her sister fell down the well. her little brother died when bessie spread arsenic on his toast mistaking it for sugar and her grandpa was shot mysteriously while napping on the porch.
