I do motion graphics, video editing, graphic design and 3d design/animation. I'm thinking of an 8 core mac with 32 GB ram 8tb internal storage and a Quadro Plex 2200 S4 with 16gb of graphics memory would this be enough or too much? I HATE waiting for After Effects to render!

buy your apple from Crucial, they'll do it cheap and it lets you know exactly waht memory your system needs.

So just upgrade that yourself, its completely allowed under warranty. So an 8 Core Mac Pro or even an iMac with the i7 CPU would be good. You can upgrade the RAM on that as well, there are slots on the bottom side of the screen.

Certainly CPU will render after effects faster, but more RAM in AE means you can render more of your timeline, so get as much as you can.

i know A LOT about macs. i have spent so many years, mainly since 4th grade, STUDYING macs. at age 14, i was asked if i'd ever considered working at a mac store (guess i look a little older than i am).

but all in all, from what i paid attention to, he gave great reasons as to why you should choose either path.

He just seemed to be talking to a younger age group, than talking to 40 year olds.

Mac pros are not designed for home use.. they are more for professionals, and those who rely on them for a living. My mac does everything I throw at it, though I don't use any of Apple's apps, simply because they don't interest me.

i think option 2 is better, simply because its nice to have a good computer for home, but also a high quality laptop for when on the move, or to move between work/school and home... True a big USB could work too, but its always nice to use ur own machine.

OS X is the most superior operating system out there! Combines the security, power, and performance of Unix with the ease of use of, well Mac OS X lol. XP and Vista are pathetic in comparison, there buggy, slow, and are terribly coded.

The Mac Pro is overpriced because it hasn't had a proper update in well over a year, after the update it will be great bang for buck.

That means u don't have to pay a dime and its legal and the programs are way better than mac ones & also PC's are more powerful so the programs run faster.

Pc's are in no way more powerful. Your OS can only understand 4GB's of RAM. Therefore, in a few years, or for anyone who needs a powerful machine, you're screwed. And the macs use better hardware than pc's. Faster processors, faster and bigger RAM and better hard drives. Macs are 5 times more reliable than pc's! Plus, if you build a pc yourself, you cant send it back for repair, you have to diagnose and fix the problem yourself!
