  • Ease... due to practice and love of the craft. Purely must love your Chapman Sticks. I wish I had that kind of singular focus and dedication. Thoroughly enjoyed your performance!

    Wow very cool.

  • Of all the Chapman Stick videos, this one is my very favorite. I listen to this for hours for relaxation, healing, and for my writing activities.

    .

  • Awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I want to play like you, the problem is that i play bass guitar and i can't afford a chapman stick, very nice tune!!!

  • Bob,

I love the bends and the soulful playing. It's very reminiscient of Hiram Bullock's guitar work on Bob James' "Angela". Play that thang!

  • Sweet Jesus. How do you even get good at something like this??

  • what is he putting on his legs so he can play the stick sitting down without a strap????

  • @isaactmeyer the intrument itself has like handles sorta that make it so he can ancor it on his leg... hwo do i know this? because i saw him playin this song on the street of california in pier 39 and actually talked to him for a bit...

  • very nice. At times it reminded me of Stanley Jordan, (for obvious reasons).

  • Man, that was great!

  • If you knew more about Autism Rob you would not be replying like you have, please have some respect for the player and me.

  • He plays beautiful music, what all did you do? type out a few keystrokes? Next time offer something constructive or don't post. 'Nuff said

  • You don't have to be autistic...it's called hard work and dedication to an instrument. How do you know whether he has autism or not?

  • It's the new Cowboy Bebop theme! =D

Oh man, your sticks sounds so great, and that is some fantastic playing.

  • How does he play the harmonic sound with only one finger at about 2.40 ?

  • @ GreyFoXx01

Bob explains the harmonic sound on another video (here on YouTube I think) It's a one hand/two finger trick... pinky touch's string at harmonic point but does not press string into fret and the index finger hammer's the actual note.

  • tapped harmonics. You can do them on normal guitar as well. You lightly tap directly over a fret, but not so hard that you hit the fret.

  • my god...i forgot to breathe hearing this music.......

  • pretty cool...it would be cooler if the stick wasnt so expensive but cool playing anyway.

  • What tuning are you using?

I just got a 10 string stick and ive been using matched reciprocal but im not sure if its the best choice.

  • Mr Culbertson for me you're the best stick player! ciao Gabry

  • it sounds like eliah levy

  • A-M-A-Z-I-N-G

  • P-E-R-F-E-C-T

  • I don't even know how in the world one would go about learning ALL the frets and the too many strings on that thing. seems like torture. this guy makes it look so easy and great though. i kind of want one.

  • A half step for each fret, a fourth (or major third) in between each string. It becomes natural after a while. And if you want a Stick you better be prepared to cough up something in the vicinity of 3k-for a BARGAIN model.

  • This guy has like three of them. he deserves them

  • That was awesome. Regardless of instrument. It sounded great. Great musical tune. Very enjoyable listen to.

  • This is the ULTIMATE instrument and YOU SIR are one of the best players on it.I love this damn thing but its too expensive for me :(

  • wow.. beautiful

  • Just WOW! I am again amazed, both by your versatility and that of the stick.

    Moosie

  • Oh wow!! Thank you!

  • gooooooood! i from peru!

  • Is that a very well applied Skronk like on page 56 of Stickology at 2:39? How did Bob do that?

  • The note at 2:39 is a one hand harmonic by placing the pinky finger 5 frets above the tapped note. See video "Stick Lesson, Blues technique" for more detail.

  • :) the overtone thing at 2:39... That's NOT as easy as it looks here!

  • Wow...I never heard anyone get that note out of a Stick. First time I have heard Bob do it too.
