  • Shit she is so good I am frezzzeing..

  • Burberry white people fashion at its best!!!!!!

  • Burberry, I love you.

  • I always pick up the needle to skip this particular track on my favorite Dusty record. To think Dusty was a feminist, lesbian biatch is heresy

  • This is the lesbian anthem, sung better than nobody but Leslie Gore and especially Dusty Springfield, which wait, were total dykes? so surprising.

  • @jilhal24 How and why in any way is this song only applicable to homosexual relationships?

Dusty sang all kinds of song superbly, not because of her sexuality, but because of her miraculous voice and her musical emotional connection and ability to interpret that. Why can't people just enjoy her music FFS!?

  • Why does the non-hetero community insist on spamming every freaking thread, post, or video with their "message"?

WTF does your sex life have to do with this woman's video and her lyrics demanding respect for her individuality?

  • Dusty and Petula!. We will never see the likes of them again. Almost had it with Amy Whinehouse but alas the heavens want their best back to quickly. R.I.P beautifulf sogntress's.

  • The songs come before the movie...dope....think first, speak/type second.

  • There was a snippet of the blow monkeys version in dirty dancing but that's the only movie I know of that it's in. Dustys rendition of this song is fantastic - as is the Lesley gore version. Great song - great singer - there will never be another Dusty. RIP xxx

  • Was this song in a movie?? Sounds so familiar

  • I like this song because I think we are always two

  • Amazing 10*..thanks for posting this beautiful song!!!!

  • I think this version has more passion than Lesley Gores...I love this!

  • @neenie091 yeah, well, I think this one is way better xd

  • Great job, Dusty!!!

  • What makes you think she does not know? I believe she does.

  • I love this song.

  • Fabulous !! : )

  • I like this song when i first heard this i thought this was an african american lady who sung this song.

  • 15 pple must owned

  • Dusty pretty much owned every song she sang.

  • I stole my mum's 45 of this....love, love, love her voice. I was born in 71, so glad my mum shared her awesome taste in music with me!

  • joe sexton!

  • Love this song in First Wives Club! Great song!

  • Silver...Gold.. doesn't shine as much as Dusty in this gorgeous tune. She was a real shinning star with her moody bitter emotion voice.

I love this song so much...great sound here that I must express my deep tks.

  • Simply the best!!! *****

  • Love Dusty ...an old mod boy from the early sixties.

  • Meee toooo love it !!! **********++

  • I love it

  • Nice song

  • I like you,

  • I Wonder What "Dusty" Would Think If She Knew The Millions Of

People That Are Still Enjoying Her Music.

    I Miss You Dusty.

  • @desert3347 I hope that somewhere, somehow, she does. I don't think she ever appreciated or understood just what a great talent she was and how much she was loved. I miss her too.

  • @ronnogold I Totally agree with You....I Hope She Somehow knows what She left Us. After listening to an "interview" with Dustys close friends, Dusty was a "perfectionest" & wanted only the "Best" out of Herself to Give to Her Fans...rip Dusty . We So Miss You.....

  • I was a child in the 60's and I'll never forget this great song. Dusty sang it beautifully!

  • As a gay person who is blind as a bat without my glasses, she is a great person ot look up to. She was visually impaired and a lesbian at a time when it was impossible to be open about it and she was incredibly successful. Dusty opened the door for the LGBT community and the handicapable community.

  • Perfect song for Dusty. I love her attitude... so sassy

  • The Haunting Dusty vocals.

Elton John: "I think she is the greatest White singer that there has ever been."

  • Irish soul singin' star

  • Not bad for an Irish lass

  • xricaann- she hated labels and people who judged her from her pref of women- she was gay not bi. She had to hide it or lose her career. Back then NO ONE accepted gay people. She was great example that gay women can be feminine/intelligent/talented/beautiful!!!

  • I'm 18 and I have to recognize that even in my generation we don't see such a great talent like this. I kind of feel embarrassed, songs like this talk about emotions, love, relationships... many songs that my friends and even my little sister listen just talk about partying wildly, sex, drugs...

    This is just sad...

I came to this song thanks to one of Burberry's video, and well... you were a goddes at your time, and for me, many years later, I found such title well earned.

  • Who cares how she spend her private. life . As a artist she was one of the greatest. the world should be thankful . FOR THE PRIVILEGE OF LISTEN TO HER .!!!!

  • yes now that bring back very old memries

  • yay eminem used this

  • bisexual, transsexual, lesbian, gay, transvetite, straight, why should it matter as long as there is love and respect?

  • First Wives Club.....

  • OmG.... bissexual means that she like both sex... UahuAhUAHuHAU not that she have a dick or something UAHuAHuhAUhUA

  • really she is bisexual? but her voice is just like a real woman?! WTF cant believe, x

  • @xricaann24 Bisexual means you like both men AND women. You're thinking of transsexual.

    Dusty was born a women.

  • @RedRoosterRoad Oops sorry. Haha im such a stupid person, i apologize. Im laughing about what i said. uh im such a moron lol x

  • I love Dusty Springfield. Is it weird that I'm a married guy? I know she has a following in the gay community, but that doesn't stop me from loving her work.

  • Isn't she great. I was lucky to grow up in that time. Dusty was always number one to me followed by the other two from the pom triumvirate, Cilla and Petula. What a decade for music.

  • Platinum past!

  • Burberry me trajo aqui!

  • omg i like this version the best!!! :O

  • OMG! All of Dusty's songs, took me back to my wonderful youth! Thank you Dusty, may you be at peace!

  • is there anything this woman couldn't sing?

  • Sebiean General Warsaw packing the science of tiling. Jeh jah Whore and the Tramps

  • Sebiean General Warsaw packing the science of tiling.

  • NFL THEME SONG.

  • I was born in 65 and was lucky enough to have been brought up with Dusty spent most of my childhood listening to her music more than my mum! She is my idol forever And my daughter loves her too>>> who couldn't and we love her fashion!!!!!!!!

  • @ftjax No she was a lesbian!

  • A beautiful voice and lyrics. Rest in peace Dusty, you'll always be remembered.

  • This must be a first. One gay woman covering another gay woman's song on top 40 radio.

  • Was Dusty Springfield ever married ?

  • @ftjax she was bi-sexual.....with strong views about apartheit....and NO she never was married, cos it would have been to ME (but i WAS only 14)

  • * * * * *

  • the one and only dusty still love your music...

  • site:youtube.com GOOGLE> MIRACLES HAPPEN ALL AROUND WHEN John Joseph O'Brien LIVES NEARBY says GOD THE FATHER :-)

google> I'M GOING TO MAKE GOD DAMNED SURE THAT NO ONE EVER FORGETS YOU John Joseph O'Brien says GOD THE FATHER :-)

  • Never knew about her gender preference but, it matters not. She was an artist.

  • *clap! clap! clap!* BRAVO!!!! MORE! MORE! MORE!

  • @GreatGarloo Excellent Comment!!

  • I Think That We All Knew About Dustys Gender Preference Way Before

Her Death! That's Fine With Me****

Her Voice, Arms, Face- We All Loved Her!!

  • Dusty came out publicly before her death ... love, love love this fabulous drag idol

  • Strictly womanly,such charming,lovely,brilliant!

  • I think this song is extra powerful coming from Dusty.

  • Dusty. You don't have to say any more. They had the trifecta in England with Pet Clarke, Cilla Black and Dusty. You can't speak of the great female vocalists without including Dusty at the top. Lesley Gore did this well but Dusty was better.

  • One of the greats!!!!!!!!!! RIP Dusty

  • Leslie Gore sings better.

  • Wow. Amazing version of this classic by Dusty

  • why was i born in the 90s

  • A Lovely Classic<3,'

    Never Get's Old.

  • What an era the 60s was. I am so lucky I experienced the tail end of it.

  • GOD, I miss her! How I loved her!

  • wtf is lesley gore

  • @CATORICO1960 Lesley gore did the original . Both versions are great

  • dusty, just the best ,brit singer ,ever, end of

  • I really love listening to this song as if I feel so comfortable in getting to sleep nice

  • Love this and love Dusty, but I still prefer Lesley Gore's version: it still sends chills up my spine after almost fifty years of having listened to it.

  • found out about this song for a commercial about football shirts for girls, haha :)

  • love her voice, beautiful!

  • @LisaAyala7

thats debatable. You forgot Shirley Bassey.

  • Not a Dusty fan particularly. but what I admire about the female singers of that era, across the board is they knew how to sing and dress...rather than undress... for the camera. Alot of todays popular female 'singers' get by on their sexuality not talent.

  • like this cover! :D yeaah ♪♫

  • This song was made for her and they tried but never owned her she remained the person in charge and in control of her career...

  • great singer, def my fav singer, always love you dusty, xx rip.

  • I miss you Dusty.

  • good cover, still prefer lesley's original though.

  • On a scale of 1 to 10.This lady was a 15!!!!!!!!

  • Beautifull Voice!

  • To everyone that were at least teens in the 60's , Were'nt we lucky to hear all these great songs and singers for the first time. sixties was the best for music

  • @RAY2424 Yes we were - luv all these songs - not like a lot of the stuff we have today

  • @RAY2424 I'll be 60 next week, who knows where the time goes? loved Dusty, still do, would have loved to have known her. Dyke? So what, it really doesn't matter, I only wish she could have come out earlier. Too many fond memories to list but she had the most fabulous voice and style, miss you Mary. And as for sixties music I'll agree it was good but good music still being made. 60's & 90's have been best so far imo but don't close your ears people

  • @anthonydansullivan Happy Birthday. 60 is great. been there for 6 months and I lost 60 lbs and walk every day and I feel great. Enjoy your day.

  • @RAY2424 Dude, I was born in 62 and I remember all this stuff, it's timeless and kick ass. I'm emailing much of Dusty to my 21 year old son. Hopefully the future will appreciate it's uniqueness.

  • @RAY2424 I was born in '63 but I know every word to everyone of these classics, here I am at 48yrs and sitting in my office working over Easter (in Australia workers get 5 days off over Easter...except me..lol) with this blarring through my office. Let the good times roll. :)

  • @RAY2424 amen. We had the best of the best. I don't even mind being old now, just glad I was there for it.

  • @RAY2424 absolutely correct

  • @RAY2424 You said it right....RIGHT ON!!!!

  • @donnyvango Ditto what luvtoluvyababy said. I haven't seen most of these pix before. Well done!

  • Best rendition I've heard!

  • UPPITY WOMEN UNITE!

  • Didn't she die from cancer some years ago?

  • @BushMass Yes our beloved Dusty died from breast cancer several years ago! We all miss her so much!

  • @RImusclebear

I did not know that, musclebear. I heard a modern version of I Only Want To Be With You recently. It's by Volbeat and its a LOT different but I will consider it as honoring her memory.

  • Dusty's and Bettes version of this song are both so wonderful. I can't deceide whos version is better!

  • Is It True Dusty was gay like Leslie Gore ?

  • @spazzcat03 yes

  • @LisaAyala7

Yes, Dusty is absolutely amazing, and did a trememdous job with this song. But please listen to Karen Carpenter (such as her song "Superstar") for another totally incredible female voice. This is not to put down Dusty in any way. There can be more than one incredible female vocalist. btw, Lesley Gore, who did the original of "You Don't Own Me", was absolutely marvelous in her version as well. All the best!

  • I'm a musician, have a home studio and much to my pain I listen to music rather clinically.

But if you put Ella, Judy, Lena, Aretha, Barbra, kd, Mariah in the control room and hear that performance I don't believe any would have tried to come near it.

That's a perfect vocal with bizarre choices on the beginnings and endings of notes. And everytime a key change occurs in her songs you really just want the music to shut up.

    Wow. Just wow.

  • why did Dusty change her name? Would she have gotten a record contract in the 60s in England with an Irisha Catholic name?

  • add Helen Shapiro to that list too and Kathy Kirby too.

  • add Helen Shapiro to that list too.

  • I forgot how great she was.....

  • Dusty did this so much better than Lesley Gore. when Lesley did it it was as if she really didn't believe the lyrics. Whereas Dusty felt them.

  • I will second Jandor 4031's emotion. I agree about 219 percent (is that possible?)..

  • Maybe I'm reading too much into the words, but I'm guessing she related to the lyrics as it said a lot about her own troubled life (e.g. the school she was at, her relationship with her brother).

  • She is going to get a V.D. if she follows through with these lyrics.

  • This song came out at a good time when women were seeking liberation,,in the 1960's..it was meant for the times

  • Dusty..XXXXXXXXXXX

  • Her best song ever.

  • Comment removed

  • Yes I love this song...Dusty's voice is magnificent...

  • @pegasusbsb27 No sweat. You had to rely on what you were told. I, on the other hand, was there!

To let you guys in on something none will admit: to listen to these great songs we had to endure hours of Henry Manchelli Conni fransis and Alma Cougan, with songs(?) like Little polka dot bikini and Que sera sera and Little doggie in the window . . . excuse me. I feel sick. .

  • @pegasusbsb27 'cept - if I understand you right - she is English.

And for the list you're all forgetting Mama Cass and Carol King!

    Respect to all

  • Dusty.........Big XXXXXXXX...........

  • Hmmmm - Dusty - Leslie - Joan Jett - Klaus Nomi - Blow Monkeys. I'm sensing a theme. ;)

  • Don't fence me in!

  • I'm still in love with you Dusty.

  • Dusty Springfields musical and spine chilling vocal talent on song after song after song after song is simply BEYOND AWESOME!! You cannot say that about any other pop singer ever!!

  • @woody7075

Dusty is awesome, but Roy Orbison and Freddie Mercury fill the bill as well.

Orbison/k.d. lang duet of "Crying" is one of the greatest things ever recorded.

  • A perfect song for Dusty! The lyrics are so true for her, and she sings it divinely!

  • @donnyvango What a lovely collection. Thanks for sharing your amazing montage with us on you tube. Cheers!

  • WOW!

  • @vailsburghighlife There is not much that can be said after that. This beautiful and talented women sang my credo with more passion than I ever could have imagined . I only wish she was still with us. RIP girlfriend.

  • Havoc on the beat I wreak it

  • I think this is nicer than the classic by Lesley Gore??

  • @crazymayful

Dusty was certainly a much superior singer than Lesley who is still one of my favorite singers.

  • @crazymayful .......theres a fraction of a millimetre between the two versions.....BOTH spinechilling!!

  • So powerful.

  • This is my theme song !!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Now THIS is good music! I love Dust y. RIP pretty lady.

  • Gone too soon!!! What a singer!!!

  • I met Lesley Gore while working as the Concierge at a major hotel in Phoenix AZ and we had a chance to chat..she had nothing but praise for Dusty Springfield. It warmed my heart to know two of my favorites covered songs and admired each other so much. Thanks for posting this! BklynBoy

  • Well this is a big shock. I had no idea Dusty did a cover of this song. It's brilliant of course. Everything Dusty does is amazing anyway. I like both her and Leslie's versions alot.

  • I would love to hear Duffy cover this song, I reckon she would do a great job ...

  • they should sing this on glee. santana can sing it =)

  • @AJJ1990 .......I agree they should do about 10 episodes of Glee, putting 2 or 3 different Dusty classics in each episode including this, Everyday I have to cry some; Losing You; YDHTSYLM; Brand New Me; How can I be sure.....and on and on

  • ohh i love this songggg... its always in mind! when in relationship lol!!!

  • wow... sounds like Lesley Gore... this one fooled me.

  • Dusty was a bit...I loved her music and will never try to rate her. Now I'm everything but white.

  • sounds so much like the Lesley Gore version, produced by Quincy Jones-did he produce this version as well, it's terrific!

  • To Jander4031: Couldn't agree more. Let's face it - with VERY few exceptions, today's "divas" only need good promoters/managers, to look good half-naked, and have lots of flash with barely enough voice to get through a tune. No comparisons at all to the true talents you mentioned, or to other greats like Barbara Lewis, Chi Coltrane, Diana Washington, Dionne Warwick, et al ...

  • J'Adoreeeeeeeee!!!!!!!<3

  • I'm a huge fan of Dusty Springfield - I just heard about this new original DVD series: reelinintheyears(dot)com/britishinvasion

  • Damn, Dusty can sing anything. Wow.

  • this is perfection...dusty you the lady !

  • @cynthiamoon1950

Amen to that! She is perfection. She could sing all the names in a telephone book and make it sound wonderful. What a voice, what a lady. Miss her so much RIP Dusty

  • @marydbest1 ......I once read the telephone book from cover to cover.......great cast.....lousy plot!!!

  • R.I.P. Dusty.

  • I've always found it a little ironic that this song has been done by Dusty, Lesley Gore, Joan Jett and Klaus Nomi. Of these, only one has really gone out with boys. I don't know about Rasputina. :)

  • she is just greattttttttttttttttt

YOU DONT OWN ME DONT SAY I CANT go
