  • "like" just isn't a strong enough word! I replay this video over and over and share it with everyone I meet. It is completely awesome! To the one with the disappointed dad, you're right it isn't his life. You can't live for his expectations of you.

  • The worst part is when you open up to your father and he tells you that he's disappointed in you. He said people hide things that are bad but I know it's not true. I was hiding it from him because I knew he wouldn't understand but that's just plain fucked up for him to say that. I will always be bi and I will love who ever I want because this is my life not his. When I become successful I will still be bi. Will he still be disappointed?

  • I recently realized I am bi. I am more gay though because I tend to go more for girls.Very few people that are close to my know this. When I was in middle school, i was bullied all the time and called gay because I dressed like a boy and acted like one. I then shortly got involved with drinking and smoking. I cut myself alot. The pain is horrible. The only thing keeping my here is the dogs, especially Pit Bulls. W/out my dogs or friends, I prob wouldn't be here now. i hope to find Ms. Right soon

  • @pitluvr0631 Hang in there! There are tons of caring people out there rooting for you.

  • @VulcanFleet Thanks. My depression is what really kills me. Some days its like walking with a ball and chain on both feet. I still make it though

  • i had a friend show me this and i do have to say it dose get better and i love this song i have posted it all over my facebook and myyearbook i just have to say thank you for saying what we all want to say and just do not have the balls to say

  • OMG i wuvs this vid and gay but this is so freaking true.

  • I'm not gay or bi but I'll be damned if I don't love this song and the message it puts across! Fuck all the celebrities winning shit for songs they've done about this issue, you should win something! 8D

  • The most freakin AWESOME video ever!!!

  • thank you so much for this video. I feel this needs to be a message to people.

  • i'm straight but not narrow. love this video and have shared it with friends both gay and straight. I agree this needs more attention. keep the views coming and get rebecca on letterman :-)

  • this really helped me b/c im bisexual and am getting crap from ppl in my school about it, after i watched this i just turned my back when they started talking about me, but im glad they have the guts to say it to my face.

  • @artie450 if they can't understand you or judge you, FUCK THEM! you don't need that shit :)

  • at 3:25 I just understood 'George Michael, ask her wife' xD

  • This is so beautiful.

  • best song ever, and for those who care, no im not gay or bi or lesbian but i do no someone who is and for those who r im here to help

  • I have such a crush on this woman.

  • Some morons are gay-bashing the girl I like. I don't think she's lesbian and I'm the bi one. I really prefer they'd gay-bash me instead of her. I hope it does get better. It did once I was able to tell my friends the truth. They understood me and thought it wonderful that I'd told them. Now I have to wait for the comments to stop... and soon. This song is awesome and helps a lot!

  • THANKS, just Thanks, i like his song, really, it's the first time i watching your video and i like it!

  • Gandalf is gay? Yeah, like Dumbledore...xD

  • @HiNoTamaIII Haha, Sir Ian McKellen (The actor who plays Gandalf) is gay.

  • @sailorFreak2 Not the caracter? *disappointed* xD

  • i just recently came out to some of my friends along with some of my family. I am a transgender going from female to male. This song is very inspiring to me and wanted to tell you that this song was amazing and touched me alot. I listen to it prolly a bit to much but I cant help it, It is a brilliant song. You did an awesome job!!!. I also showed my cousin who is gay I was the only one that knew your song inspired my 15 cousin to come out.. He is a tough guy and now he is going by your words.

  • amazing! brilliant! thank you!

  • funny - well made - very true - so terrible - violence is the big evil -not consensual sex.

  • I LOVE this music video, it was beautifully choreographed!

  • Rebecca....we need to be friends!

  • Believe it LordLithicus, this video speaks to everyone - adults and teenagers. She has a censored but still excellent version so teachers who want to play it in school don't get fired. But kids today can take the uncensored version just fine! Its not like they don't hear and see far worse on TV all the time. As to your statement "no parent would like kids (to) listen to this" - you are flat out wrong about a lot of parents - the good kind. They know this is a fabulous message for their kids!

  • @strategicwarfare: Perhaps you should try to resist your natural tendency to be a dick head! Probably not though, you must have trained so long and hard to exceed at it!

  • Here is what I don't get about this video. This is for kids. The lyrics are violent and obscene. No parent would like kids listen to this. I appreciate the message that it gets better but next time if you create a video for kids, make sure it is appropriate for kids to listen.

    Bi male

  • @LordLithicus More accurately, I think it's for High School aged teens, so we're talking about "kids" in the 15-16-17-18 age range. And if you think that they haven't already heard this kind of talk, or use strong language themselves, then just look back and think about your time in H.S. Did you swear? Did you hear swearing? Anyone who watches South Park, or most other shows on TV is going to have a head full of swear words already. This isn't "Leave it to Beaver"'s version of America, anymore.

  • @LordLithicus I'm 32 my eldest is 9 I've asked and let her listen to this I'm dutch/Australian and the oldest sex rating in Netherlands is 11. the sooner we ALL wake up the better.

  • @LordLithicus oh an Im straight i only say this to demonstarte the repression of many countries and cultures

  • @LordLithicus not to mention the fact that many of the kids that have another gender orientation get called names like this no matter how young they are

  • FANTASTIC! Awesome job! Thanks for making this, and for mentioning unicycle-weirdos, too! ;-)

  • Good song for calling out what those people who assault some one for being gay, Fuck heads, I cant think of any better way to describe fuckers like that.

Yet my only problem is doing the 10%, that was a highly flawed study and giving false statistics because they are favorable to ones cause is doing a disservice to the cause.

Most independent and government studies put the number at 2-3% thats still 10 million people and now that is a large number,

  • @Zeksteve That's probably only for people confident enough to come out and self-identify. There are many, MANY more that either behave as non-heterosexual (such as men who have sex with men, but call themselves "straight"), or simply enjoy watching non-het pr0n, but not engaging in the activity.

Ever notice how much she-male, gang-bang, and other dick-centric pr0n is out there? If you're watching your own gender have sex and getting off on it, that's not heterosexual behavior. Just sayin'. :-)

  • @salsburyp Of course, most people can't think past Black & White/Either-Or/Straight-or-Gay dualistic thinking, so you can hardly expect them to admit that they enjoy watching their own gender. But have you noticed how much time men spend talking about dick?

If you're watching a bunch of dudes doing one woman...news flash: You're not watching it for the woman. ;-) (And that's perfectly OK, but recognize it for what it really is. THINK about it.)

  • I love this song. I'm not gay, but I support all of my friends who are. Highschool really does suck for most of us. Hang in there and get to college, everything is so much better there. Anyway, just wanted to say great work on the song <3

  • actually about 21% so closer to 1/5.

  • Yay, Beck, this song is awesome! You have such a beautiful smile, and I'd love to kiss those kissable lips of yours!

  • This is beautiful, and so are you.

  • <3 This is such great video.. Yu rock.

  • Even my LGBT friends agree this is incredibly lame and unfunny.

  • @CamButler Your LGBT's have no sense of humor, and most likely got the shit beaten out of them to the point they get all butt-hurt (no pun intended) over the slightest remark about their lifestyle. The more negative reinforcement a person has, the less they laugh.

I'm not gay, but I have been bullied, and I can laugh at this because I know how to let my angst go, post high school.

  • @Thief8Bit No, they're just smart enough to know that "just because something is gay comedy doesn't automatically make it funny", as per his words. And no, he says, he was never beaten up or "butt-hurt", as you put it. Stay classy, bro.

  • @CamButler Victims seldom ever speak.

  • Really, really great and so well done. I'll be passing this around! And you know? It does get better. I was picked on for being different; no one knew I was a lesbian. Hell, I didn't even know for a long time. Now I get to show off my gorgeous girlfriend and let my career, looks, and persona do the talking for me. It does indeed get better. And I'm fucking loving it. ;)

  • This is the best thing ever, and I shared it with everyone on fb!

  • Wish I could agree with this bu I can't, I am 25 people still treat people like this and you know what you can't do anything about it. But the one thing I do agree with is that you do choose who you hang out with.

  • I still can't figure out how this video has been out over a year and it has so few views. Its the best thing to come out of the It Gets Better Campaign. It needs to go viral!

  • I just dont like this video cause the music is annoying. I honestly get a headache from it :/

  • @ThatBiperson That's a better reason than most I've heard.

  • History Geek in me says: It didn't get better for Wilde.

Other than that though, awesome stuff. :D

  • THANK YOU for making this video, it's fantastic and as a fellow Rebecca I salute you *grins*

  • i feel so special the very first word in this song is my name XD Im weird and i love it!

  • This is an amazing song, It made me feel really good about myself. THIS is real music! NOT that shit about doing drugs and getting drunk. those songs are bad examples for the youth. THIS, however, makes people happy, makes them know they aren't alone!

  • I love this. Being gay, bisexual, transgendered, queer, lesbian, omnisexual, pansexual, uncertain, adventurious, anything and everything is ok. You have a right to love whoever you want. Period. I want you to know that i support anyones choice to love and marry whoever they want.Seriously get over your phobias and understand that not everyone that is different from you is out to get you.Or trying to get into your pants.Got it? Ok thank you. *takes a bow*

  • Terrible song!!!

  • @adomaful is that even a sentence?

  • LOVE

  • I LOVE THIS I LOVE THIS I LOVE YOU I LOVE THIS OMG I HAVE SOME MANY FEELINGS RIGHT NOW. WHEN YOU NAMED THEM PEOPLES AND SAID GLEE I WAS LIKE AMG LOVE LVOELVOELEOERAVD B'D

  • Comment removed

  • Really Brilliant! truly inspirational...I just wish she had pronounced George Takei"s name correctly...rhymes with O.K., according to George himself...Ta-Kay...

  • Thank you Rebecca, This is absolutely fantastic

  • Hooray!

  • This totally made my day, thank you!

  • If you're gay or bi or something in between" that's awsome! I'm like 3/4ths lesbian, only because i'm more atracted to girls, but i still find guys hot. this is awsome! i really apreciate this! thank you!

  • Billy Joe is bi?!

I gotta get me a piece of that!

  • Awesome message!

"About three and a half of them are gay..." Hahahaha, love the half.

  • This is so awesome. Goosebumps!

  • If I had heard this when I was in school... it would have made a HUGE difference. <3

  • This has become a favorite at my college's GSA, two thumbs way up. This is, hoenstly, the kind of message that needs to be said. While I agree with adomaful that people SHOULD be able to just be mature about it. many still aren't, and videos like this are for those who are surrounded by type of teens mentioned in this video.

  • All of my gay friends get laid way more than me and are generally just happier haha

  • just because there are so man of u doesnt mean ur right

    self control ppl

  • @adomaful In what way? People aren't right for showing their sexuality or aren't right for showing they're AGAINST someones sexuality?

  • @animeking34209 both are

every1 shold shw there sexuality.but not in an agressive way

i feel like ppl say that there gay out of anger sometimes.if someone is gay they should jst say there gay nt make it like a war.i 4 one am attracted to tranys.i had a shemale gf in both 11 and 12th grade,no one evin thought of bullying me bec im a kick bxer.but whenever any1 sayed bad thngs i wold just stare them in the eye and tll thm if they cant change who i am by force they should jst sht up

  • @adomaful Yes... that's right self control. Say that to the music industry, the movie industry, the advertising industries that constantly try and sell things using heterosexual symbolism, and yet get pissed off when a Homosexual advertisement for safe sex is put out.

    Bloody hypocrites.

  • @Vasiel44 the thing is ..im not gay...so i dont really know how gay ppl feel....but i know id beat the living shit out of anyone teasing someone gay just for being different.....and for advertisement....it really doesnt matter if its put out or not...one way or another ppl will learn all they need if there smart enough

  • Amazing.

  • Haha this is amazing!

    Totally just made my day

  • What about the other kids who get bullied?

  • @TheEureka41 they're just as important, but this campaign is specifically for LGBTs

  • @TheCutiepuffs I know but there needs to be a campaign for everyone.Personally I get bullied mainly for different reasons and feel everyone needs to feel like it gets better.

  • Good work. Good message in both the song and the afterward.

  • Amazing, thank you.

  • heyyyy! this song is on itunes! YES i getting this song and i will listen to it every day thank you!

  • you forgot chris crocker he is awesome :DDDD

THANKS SO MUCH I HOPE IT DOES GET BETTER !!!

im so tired of being called gay etc D:

  • Oh my God, I love Rebecca Drysdale!!! <3 She's so beautiful, talented, and awesome in every way! Thank you for doing this video to help people's lives and to make this world a better place :-)

  • I have found that blasting this song over and over again when I'm down it makes me feel much better!

  • love your message on the end of the clip.. thumbs up from me girl :)

  • i like this.. :))

  • your song inspired so many people to join the gay straight alliance at my high school and it has ended so much homophobia that the homo phobics are at the bottom now

  • I sense some gaga influence.

  • Where did you get the Black and White lined Jacket????

  • 37 people are homophobic dickweeds for disliking this video. This is the greatest song I've ever heard in my life, with an awesome video to it!!

  • Literally The best thing I have ever seen!

  • Every time I watch this video, I see more detail and more things to love about it!

  • @anodyne8 I'll keep on trying to stay put, don't worry.

  • I'm sorry but Johnny should be ashamed of himself. The dress doesn't go well with the shoes. No make up and no weave? I'm sorry but johnny looked toe up. If you're gonna drag do it properly. I would beat him over his fashion too. Shame on him.

  • This song has been in my background through a very hard year, i listened to it often and only now can i let it sink in. It does get better. Thank you for a wonderful song with a message. Knowing i no longer need to hide

  • amazing. thank you.

  • Again, this is one of the absolute best perspectives ever. Thank you Rebecca!

  • Insightful and heartfelt from the heart we need more of that in the world.

  • Im gay, this helped me after my mom thought it was terrible, but this helps through it. (: But when guys make fun of it, "Hey, no reason, i get more pussy then you" Haha.

  • @PoptartsNPepsi I'm one of the lucky few who live in a comunity more understanding of sexuality. most kids at my school actualy are gay (granted the male to female ration is like, 12 to 1)

my point is, I wish I had teh courage to come out like you did. I'm a lezbian in a guy's body, and before anyone starts bashing about it being the same thing, it's not. I wish I had a female body, but I don't find guy's attractive. I've only let out to a few close friends.

  • Boy George is named twice *smirks* I couldn't help but notice

  • nice this is awesome yo message me

  • Rebecca you are currently my hero, not only is it a damn good tune (so what if its dance music) its a fantastic video!!!

    YOU ROCK!!

  • Ok, it's dance music, alright. Acknowledging that there isn't real singing going on, or real playing of instruments, for that matter, this is quite catchy.

  • it gets better——-a music video by rebecca drysdale (by beckdrys) on YT~!

This woman is my new HERO! She is unbelievably AWESOME! What an arresting gripping piece of timeless & classic musical art she’s created here! And MAN does Beck know how to command a camera!

  • @scruffylittlecat I do believe she has & will continue to help young gay people everywhere to keep enduring through the dark trying times they face, reassured by Beck & others who are contributing to this international “It Gets Better” campaign to help end gay youth suicide.

Beck, I adore you! SUBSCRIBED & widely shared, my sizzle! <3

  • Here is the post that accompanies your brilliant work when I shared this first on FB, & then on Tumblr. I am spreading it around everywhere i can, my friend! My admiration for you knows NO bounds, Beck baby! You are, in MY opinion, nothing short of the most charismatic, talented & beautiful genius anywhere! SUBSCRIBED! <3

  • i love this, i went to the Unity conference and showed them this xD they loved it. <3

  • This is fantastic!! Thank you for putting you and your friends time and effort into making this. Thank you, I love this video!!

  • I.....I think I love you

  • @xxjjxxish... how does this make all gay people seem like whores? where do you get that?

  • Yay FL!

I don't see how this paints a bad image. It's giving examples that all these well known people who are gay have really made something of themselves after overcoming what ever LGBTQ youth goes through, and that just because someone is different in mistreated, doesn't mean that they can't make something of themselves.

  • all the romans LOLOLOL

  • I think this paints a bad image, it makes all gay ppl seem like whores.

  • @xxjjxxish but overall sends a good message.

  • I love this! I am doing a project on Transgenderism for school. As much as I feel this video would fully get my point across, I can't show it! I would love to. Its *very* well said and appropriate!

    Thank you!!

  • @MonkeyGlowLove There's a school/work friendly version available. The lyrics are edited but it's still epic.

  • Anyone else found this through FL? x3

  • @AmputatedBox I got here through FL as well...:)

  • This is so cool!

  • this is the best video i have ever seen.

  • it's too bad radio stations are almost unanimously owned by sixty year old men, this could probably work the charts, better than most of the shit rap that gets on the air around detroit.

  • I too love that FL put it up :) And I am glad to have seen it!

  • @Jerenett I found this through FL, too. LOL

  • I lol'd at "all the romans". Excellent song and video.

  • You rock the WORLD, girl! You are amazing! THANK YOU for this incredible message. Its had me both laughing & crying! Now somebody has to make a video for manic depressives! LOL!

  • I cried through the last half of this damn song. And yes, kudos to FL for posting this. I heard the lesbian insults as far back as 3rd grade for staring at the girls in the locker room a little too long... it all went inside and I'm only just now, a marriage and 19 years later getting to understand who I am. Thank you Rebecca.

  • Thank you for this awesome video.

  • Followed link from FL

  • @slandau1 ditto

  • @slandau1 I was SO happy when I saw FL put this on their maintenance page :D

  • Yep it gets better after high school if you're a middle class white kid who can move to a liberal urban area. Oh wait, maybe not even then if you're transgender. Hey Dan Savage, my friends graduated. Why are they living on the goddamn street?

(And this song is really annoying.)

  • Amazing video! You're a really good singer too. There need to be more songs like this.

  • it does get better most of the time, but there are a good handful of people who aren't so lucky, unfortunately, just like my friend justin, he ended up commiting suicide because of all of the bad things his parents said to him and disowning him, I thought after highschool things would get better for him, that's usually the way it works, but sometimes it dosen't, I wish the outcome could have been different... but regardless, I love this video and the message it gives, thank you for this video.

  • Brilliant!!!

  • I love this.

  • I found it dos get better after school

  • I love this take on the "It Gets Better" idea. Very well done video - and in my opinion, much more effective than an inspirational "cheer up kid! don't let bullies get ya down!" webcam video. :p

  • the hair move.

    0.22

  • THIS IS ABSOLUTELY AAAAAAAMAZING!

  • I maybe straight , but I still love this song. :)

  • This is amazing!

"Everyone involved in Glee!" killed me ahahaha.

  • Great song, video and message. Having grown up in the 70's, I've had the pleasure of witnessing many changes and advancements in the gay community. Humanity still has a long way to go before it can be labelled as "all accepting", but compared to my youth, the youth of today are empowered with knowledge rather than shrouded in secrecy. Of course this is still the case in some social circles, but those circles are getting smaller. Yes, it gets better, but overall, it's getting better. Lotsa love!!

  • I saw this on a website that i frequent,

I have to say, I love this vid. Thank you to everyone involved in making this vid. Its awesome and i think school should show this especially ones that have a lot of jr high and sr high students! I wish i had had something like this hen i was in school!

  • @domineque22 I saw it on a website i frequent as well. Love the video and the message! We all have our differences; we need to accept each other, regardless of what we like or dont like!

  • LEGEND <3

  • Great video :)

  • Even when I presented the thought of making a music video like this to my friends, I was bullied a little, not like major but still. And I am straight.

  • IM BI AND I LOVE IT! <3~ LGBTS ROCK!

  • :-D Rebecca Drysdale needs to call me ;-)

  • I might have a crush on her... Well, not might.. Definitely ;D

  • @Flanclanman ! Me too!!! I saw this for the first time just a couple weeks ago and Loved it immediately. Then I watched it again... and again, showing it to my family, etc. And then I went to her website to see the words... looked here for more stuff and found her L Word Serenade... Aannnywayyy. :) In this vid I think my favorite part is when she does that sexy little thing right at "She's got a dirty little secret..." *eye roll!* It's just a little thing, but DAMN, that's just so hot!!!

  • i absolutely LOVED this video. it was a major inspiration and a wonderful way to start my morning!

  • Wow, I always thought I knew about lots of famous LGBT people but when she started naming names I went "Really?!" about every 5 seconds. Guess I need to watch the gossip-shows every now and then if I want to stay up to date :D

  • That's true, the part at the end I mean. I got teased for being asthmatic, wearing glasses, being short, wearing track pants instead of skinny jeans, my hair style, I got teased for not dying my hair. I got called a lesbian for how I dressed and hanging out with guys that I wasn't dating. I wasn't sorry at all to say goodbye to high school.

  • This is a brilliant song in its own right - I love the video too - and the message is AWESOME - super cool, thanks - I'm sharing it round the world!

  • Thanks for making this video.

  • This is the greatest thing I've ever seen in my life.

  • Something tells me this chick gets lots of pussy

  • I lost my bestfriend last month he commited suicide because he was being picked on for being gay........bullying is NEVER okay. We lose the people most important to us and bullies are to blame. #NoBullying <3
