  • This was an awesome episode!

  • Johnny: What kind of bookie puts people on hold? Venus: One that runs a busy Chinese laundry. (they cut it out! Boooooo!!!!!)

  • I work for a phone company. Yes, we do see everything. The Nortel DMS system is actually a portal to skynet. I said too much.

  • hahahhahaa

  • I won't work with anyone who doesn't know about Fevers' PHONE COPS ... here.

  • I wish someone would post the clip where Les is doing the news report talks about Chi Chi Rodriguez (Chai Chai Rodregweez)

  • I put the turkey episode on yesterday to watch with my brother while making the holiday dinner and starting talking about other episodes we liked. His favorite was "Phone Cops". I knew exactly which one he meant.LOL..I wish someone would post the whole episode or they would release the other seasons. The comedy is more important than the music.I laugh to tears when Venus says he chased him across half a cornfield!. lol

  • Love the part of this episode when Venus reminds Johnny that the police will be using dogs to search the whole radio station...including Johnny's desk drawer. Johnny takes off like a shot. My other WKRP favorites are:

The Episode where Jennifer (Loni Anderson) takes some photos and does not realize that the photographer used a two way mirror to get nudes of her.

Les Nessman thinks that turkeys can fly and drops a bunch from a helicopter as a promotional gimick!!!

  • @RUBIZEN I forgot about that part! His desk drawer! LOL!!!!! Since I only have season 1 I havent seen most of them in years...I WISH they would release the others!

I also like the one where the heat is out at the station and Johnny is drinking with Jennifer in the booth and Mrs Carlson walked by the window...LOL

  • @slosh29 Oh yeah. I heard that the very first episode was live and the executives almost shit their pants when they realized that Loni Anderson had really visible hard nipples. Everyone wanted to cut the feed but they had to finish the program!! Another of my favorites is when Johny had a remote feed from a stereo store. The place was getting robbed but since noone listened to the station no one heard Johny asking for help!! By the way you can watch some episodes on HULU.

  • @RUBIZEN I found this last month posted by Mr Hugh Wilson himself apparently..It shows bloopers and other clips I have never seen before..Give it a look see..He has only posted one vid so far..I hope he posts others ! Look for TheHughWilson or "Unseen Scenes from WKRP" in search. It wont let me post the link even though it is the you tube address of the video.

  • @slosh29 Thanks!!

  • This is my favorite episode! Thanks for posting. I get those Blank Stares too -lol.

  • @worldsecanalyst I just made a Phone Cop Reference... response was a room-full of blank stares. A couple months ago I said something about living on the air in Cincinnati... blank stares. Argh.

  • @cjandy69 It's too bad that many would give us those blank looks. There is someone at my university who knows about this episode. We had a good laugh about this and a "Barney Miller" episode about WoJo's brownies. Oh yes, I posted your link to my F/B account. There are a few "in the know." Johnny has always been my man. He inculcated a good music ideology for me.

  • THANK YOU.. i know what you mean about people not knowing about the phone police.. i now have something to show them about it.

  • You should have included the part where Fever and Venus find out the bomb was in the very same toolbox Johnny used to destroy the phone! "THE toolbox?!?!"

  • You should have included the part where Fever and Venus find out the bomb was in the very same toolbox Jihhny used to destroy the phone! "THE toolbox?!?!"

  • What still get me is when they realize the bomb was in the tool box that was used to smash the crap out of the phone.

That poor bomb had the crap beat out of it.

  • hey hey hey. wait one freakin second. the show had been cancled by the time i was born and my parents had me watching reruns of this show as an infant. one of my favorite shows of all time. so dont say all us young guys that we dont know about the phone police coming after johnny or that carlson didnt know turkeys cant fly

  • "I'll play the Carpenters! I'll play Barry Manilow! Just hide me!" :^)

  • Thumbs up if this should be an internet meme.

  • You cut off the part where they revealed the bomb was in the toolbox- it was all leading up to that

  • @ElProximo Heh--something us old farts call you young punks. Now get off of my lawn!!! :-P

  • Does anyone know how to find the one where the more they drank the faster Johnny did the sobriety test?

  • @carbomb47 Its called "fish story"

  • @taylormadejunkie Thank you Its hard to find people who remember the good shows.

  • @carbomb47 do you remember it Herb was dress as a fish didn't have money for the pay toilet and tried to crawl under and the WPIG pig caught him and herb got stuck and looked like he was swimming out from the toilet. Then Les came in and the pig told him he listens to Les when he needs a good laugh and they all get into it.Then Bailey comes in and they all go to jail.Cop got a hat I need a hat.

  • @taylormadejunkie Just watched the Fish Story episode with commentary. Creator Hugh Wilson said the network thought they were being too serious with their storylines, and told them to write a show with some gags. The writers, in an effort to show the CBS brass how wrong they were, put together "Fish Story" with every over-the-top sight gag and slatpstick bit they could think of - turned out to be hilarious, and is one of the episodes people say they the remember most... go figure.

  • @hibob418 I loved the on-the-air drunk test Johnny and Venus did with the state trooper. Every time Johnny takes a slug of whisky and gets timed, he tests are more sober -lol.

  • @ElProximo If ya have to ask than you must be one....joke

  • I love it....Remember the Disco Bondage Headgear

  • So funny! I miss this show so much.

  • Hilarious. gonna have to buy the series on DVD. I actually forgot how funny it was.

  • dude, this is so f*cking funny !!! F*cking Phone Cops, Man !

  • Oh yeah, one of my FAVORITE bits from WKRP. I saw this in prime time when it was first aired, and it is still as funny today as it was then!

  • do you have the softball game episode? that would be cool to see

  • Love the Phone Cops! I feel so old when I mention the phone cops and get blank stares.

  • One of the best episodes from WKRP. I watched this when I was 11 years old. Brings back alot of memories!

Now this was TV not the garbage they play today with overpriced actors. Thumbs up if you think the 70s had better shows then today !!!

  • You spelled Cincinnati wrong. It has 3 n's and 1 t.

  • @SouthFla03 ...says the guy from South Florida. Actually, the reason I spelled it wrong is because I just came from there; six of my fingers fell off from frostbite!

  • @piusg You get a pass on that one then! lol

  • Still funny all these years later. Thanks for uploading!

  • Hey man, I would know exactly what you meant.

  • boooooooger

  • Oh wow, I still laugh today after seeing this. I've watched each episode probably literally 100 times and still after these long years later I still love this show.

  • I love that, "Travis, I'll play the Carpenters, I'll play Barry Mannilow".

  • This was a great episode hehe, especially the part where the transmitter was blown up and Johnny says those phone cops don't fool around hehe.

  • I remember this epside...one of my favorites!

  • Phone Cops the military arm of the illuminate. LOL, I think........

  • The phone cops are real! Beware!

  • @BMUSTDIE One of my favorite "Wow, that'd be more funny if it weren't true" jokes is "If you want the NSA's latest pamphlet on cryptography and cryptographic theory, call your mom and ask for one." :-)

  • I have always liked this part because of the enthusiasm he uses to destroy the phone.

Then the part when he is told... then slowly realized the bomb was in the toolbox

  • All right, the 70's were good to me too! Johnny is right." They're in on it man!"

  • Man, I sure miss this show! So many great one-liners from one sit-com!

  • Nice!

  • "Wake up, Sucker!" This was one of the best episodes, besides "Turkey Drop'.

  • LOL, as a fan of WKRP, this is one of two episodes (The other one being Turkey's Away) that I can still vividly remember 25 years after the show went off the air...Thank you for posting this!
