@misshoneyz2dabify Actually, it can be short for Victor. But the reason he's called Vicky is due to the fact that it sounds like "Viking" alliteratively.
@109ecroyd Uh, it most likely wasn't a dream. European TV doesn't have quite the same standards as we do, and a boy skinny-dipping (even if his junk is shown) isn't viewed as necessarily indecent.
Oh so THAT'S where the game came from! I like how it exudes that old-school cartoon charm!
(Just so y'all know, some game company called Intenium released a game based off this show. As far as I know it's available in Europe only for the DS.)
Vicky kicks bottom in a big way! This cartoon is nearly as good as the banter below it! Some people really take this all to seriously! Respect due to the Viking!
So did I and then couldn't understand why the dad called him 'son' . So I figured vicky was like pretending to be a boy so she could go on the ship and fight with her dad and they were lying to the other sailors, it was really confusing when I was young.
@SuperBlueGiraffe The clue is in the song " hey hey Vicky the viking lad " lol to tell the truth when i first seen this when i was about 6 i thought he was aswell lol
@Frxz ...Sorry. I made the asumption that due to your quite obviously racial comment, that you were a blonde prick...again I apologise to someone that can actually pull some kind of racial relevance from a CARTOON(?!) based on Vikings...You black haired, brown eyed cartoon-based prick ...This animation makes you feel PROUD?!
I used to enjoy this cartoon as a kid,but now you have pissed all over it...
do u wanna know an interesting fact ONE PIECE FANS Eiichiro Oda was inspired by vicky the viking to make an anime as AWESOME AS ONE PIECE IM SORRY BUT I LOVE THIS SHOW FOR HELPING TO MAKE A LEGENDARY ANIME VIKY THE VICKING I FOREVER ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ UUUUUUUUUUUUU

The early episodes in England had a lovely theme-tune, then they replaced it with this inferior European one.
I wish there were full episodes in English here; I've been watching German ones as a substitute.
I wonder why Gorm has cat's whiskers? I'm going to explode if I don't go to bed with Snorre (little ginger toothy one, always squabbling with Tjure) soon; he's such a cute guy!
it's amazing how i used to love this show so much as a kid, and now i love One Piece more than anything, to get surprised that Oda the creator of One Piece recalls that his interest in pirates was probably sparked by this show,,,, wow .. hehe
I know! The entire time I watched this series as a kid, I assumed he was a girl... not just the name, but the voice, and I kind of thought that was the premise, she's a little girl solving all the problems of big men (well i WAS but they obviously meant small boy)
This cartoon began my life-long love affair with vikings. I'm currently building a long-boat in my garden shed; once it's finished, I'm off raping and pillaging. lol
yeah, I remember seeing this originally on Anglia TV around 79/80ish and it was repeated again around 1990.
I don't know if I'm imagining it, but I'd swear they completely changed the cast of voice actors for the English overdubs somewhere between the first and final episodes.
I'd love to hear a comparison.
Oh, and the wistful closing credits tune always reminded me of the TV series Heidi, I don't know why. *Rubs nose, Clicks finger*
You're right, I used to religiously watch the 1990 repeats, and I remember being dismayed when the voices suddenly changed mid series. Kind of ruined it for me, when I got used to the character voices.
yeah...me too...same summer holiday memories...but that was before 89....in 89 I was 20 yrs old and i wasn't watching ithen....I would have been watching when I was 11, 12, 13...something like that...so we're talking early eighties.
I have not heard this theme for ages, the last time I saw the series, I was just a young child. Thanks for sharing this!
