Sonja is the greatest female rock singer of all time. I absolutely love this group and have followed them since the first album. Brings back memories of when i saw them at Queen Marys College in 1971. Great stuff.
"Psychedelic Rock of the late 60s" except this was early seventies, which is one reason why they didn't catch on, for all their great albums. The other reason was that, in spite of Kristina's superior vocals, the band had been assembled by some record companies trying to capitalize on that "Psychedelic Rock of the late 60s." They were perceived as posers before they even started. It's hard to have worse luck and they've done well anyway.
@danielpauldavis - if you read the history of the band you will see that the band was created like many great bands from connections through friends during college years. They wrote most of the material on Air Conditioning before inviting Sonja Kristina to join them .
Saw em for about the 6th time, in Milton Keynes earlier this year, finally played some stuff from Air Cut...magical evening...Tnx guys! you still Rock!
This is so majestic, it makes me wonder why rock history didn't turn out differently. Why didn't Curved Air make it beyond the English Prog Rock ghetto, instead of Pink Floyd and Genesis?
Disagree Goundhog, they never had a stable line-up and you can find something great on all their records, and this guitar solo your listening to is Monkman-worthy! Don't know who he is..but it's Solid..no pun intended!!!
Nice performance from the group. They're in my top 5 for sure, great band. I love Sonia Kristina and Darryl Way is a great violinist, but the band was never the same after Francis Monkman left. Their first three albums are their best in my opinion.....
I did not know Curved Air were still doing what they did best, saw them at Lancaster University in the 70's. What a brill act now........and so many memories
Brilliant stuff. Sonja's a bit chunkier than the last time I saw her(over 30 years ago), but that's no bad thing. We're all getting older! And Curved Air Live... I was there, at the Cardiff gig.
Yeah, the useless promoter was trying to pay the bands from the advance ticket sales, a sure recipie for disaster. When he said he'd cancel he show Jethro Tull offered to play for half-fee, even though he hadn't paid them money already promised. Ian Anderson wrote him a letter he published on his website asking him to abandon his delusions of being a music show promoter. There's a lot of sharks doing this now. Grace Jones was meant to play near me 2 months ago but that likewise fell thru.
"Were Blue Oyster Cult meant to be playing aswell?" Yep, and Barclay James Harvest and Juicy Lucy. I hope that shark-promoter gave his victims their money back. I'm just so glad I didn't have time to arrange to go or buy tickets.
One of my early memories as a 2 year old was learning the names of the colours on the cover of Second Album whilst my mum played the album.
Are all the original band members present? Florian's drumming way ahead of it's time - an under-rated maestro - showing us how it was done long before Neil Peart broke onto the scene.

I didn"t know they were in Japan!
Well, the performance is very nice,
but "Club Citta, KANGAWA, TOKYO" is very funny!!
Kanagawa is Kanagawa, not Tokyo!
Club Citta is located in Kawasaki (city), Kanagawa (prefecture).

Sonja Kristina - vocals
Darryl Way - keyboards & violin
Florian Pilkington-Miksa - drums
are from the original band, with
Kit Morgan - guitar
Chris Harris - bass
Saw them in London a couple of weeks ago, and they are still an awesome live act.
