@broman178 Obviously Phil will get his business' back, he owns them, Derek's just acting manager, which Phil agreed to to keep Derek sweet & prevent him creating problems with his livelihood whilst he's incarcerated. I'd love to see Dan back, but Derek has no prior knowledge of Dan & Phil's feud or Dan even exists so wouldn't be trying to find him. The hardest thing is to provide Dan a good reason to return: he left after getting the better of Phil & his link to Carol & Bianca was given closure.
@ardbastard1 just an idea... but maybe, Once Phils out of jail he could get into some sort of financial difficulty and have to sell the vic, and then it turns out Dans the new owner.
@ceejayyy91onYT Yeah, that would rub salt in the wound. Haha That's not likely to happen though because it's a half-decent idea & only crap ideas are acceptible with Kirkwood at the helm.LOL
sean looks like he stinks and ardbastard1 yep u were right about dan did do him in the end i just got confused. but i still think phil could batter dan
Out of the hardmen in EE Steve (Phil) ,Ross (grant) and Craig (dan) I think look hard . but Sean and Dennis don't look that hard and have been portrayed as hardmen
@Pitvp2 Was he? I didn't know that. Although, to be honest it really has know bearing on how hard the EE writers decide to make him. I do know that Craig Fairbrass (Dan) was a doorman before he turned to acting though.
@capitalhookmaster "Phil done him in the end"? How the hell did you ever draw that conclusion? I seem to remember Phil sparked out unconscious, tied to a radiator in an abandon block of flats with Dan walking off with 200K of Phil & Steve's money. Your comment is ludicious. A fight between Phil & Dan would be very close, although I think Dan would just pin it, but that's just my opinion & it's certainly open to debate. However, Dan got the last word & was victorious in the end, that's a fact.
@ardbastard1 true, however in the list of EE hardmen, I think jack the actor is only actor in EE who has a background in the royal marines, he was in the marines before he turned model and actor.
@shamim13333 Grant had signed his half of the pub over to Phil, but Phil - still harboring resentment & anger towards Grant over his affair with Kathy - felt the pub had been a curse on his life as it was at the centre of all his problems ever since the Mitchells got in it. Also, Phil was angry with Peggy over her lack of support for him as opposed to "her blue eyed boy" (Phil's words) Grant, so he felt it was a good way to get under her skin. Giving it to Dan was an angry attack on the family.
@shamim13333 Phil has always felt Peggy loved Grant more, it goes back to when Phil was a kid & his dad, Eric, used to knock him about & Peggy did nothing about it. Phil has always had underlining issues with Peggy over his rough upbringing. Phil always was the pillar of stength in the Mitchell's, he always had Grant's back & after Grant's betrayal of him with Kathy he was angry & when Peggy said to Phil that he drove Kathy away, Phil felt Peggy was defending Grant & they didn't talk for months.
Phil has always lacked speed, even in his prime Phil was a slow fighter. Grant was stronger, quicker, slightly younger & fitter than Phil, although I think Dan & Phil would be a closely-fought battle for runners-up, there's no doubt in my mind Grant is the ultimate EE hardman. But I do wish Dan would return, he was class.
phil would fucking destroy dan, phil hits 2 the body all the time, which would allow him the space to drag dan into the wall, and smash his fuckin mellon head 2 pieces!
@RazzaBeeDaSilva Actually i was an amateur boxer, of course size doesn't always matter. But when someone is 6'3 built like a tank, can fight. I'd put my money on the guy who is 7 inches taller, bigger, stronger.
Dan has floored Phil with one punch, and restrained him here pretty easily. Yes they never had any real fights, but based on size difference. And the bust ups they actually had, i'll go with Dan.
@samsung12347122 Yea i agree it's not always about height, but considering Dan is very handy and strong. The height certainly doesn't hurt him, Phil Mitchell is a tough SOB but i think he met his match here.
I think Dan is harder he's taller, bigger, and stronger IMO, you always come across someone who is harder. I mean he's 6 foot 3 and Phil is 5 foot 8 big difference.
@CanadianMaster1 The list of hardest men is generally judged by when each character are in their prime fighting-form whilst in the series because that's the fairest way to do it, but yes, I still think Phil, even as he is now, would be to much for Sean. Put it this way, Phil is still good enough to beat Jack, & I think Sean & Jack are about on par with eachother. Phil's well passed his best, but is still harder than them. He will be to old to beat Sean one day, but it hasn't come yet.
@samsung12347122 Yeah, Freddy Foreman. He was involved in disposing of the body of the guy Reggie Kray murdered in the sixties that lead to his life imprisonment; I think, if I remember correctly from reading the book, the victim was named Jack something.
Anyone remember Jamie Foreman who plays Derek Branning when he played one of the brothers in ITV's Essex gangster series The Family? Jamie played the older more psychotic brother alongside Martin Kemp, it only lasted a series before it was cancelled, but Jamie was quite convincingly menacing as the hardman & there are certain elements & mannerisms to his performance as Derek that he clearly has taken from that character he portrayed. He was also a nutter-job in Gangster No.1 & Nil By Mouth, too.
Everyone's sayin Derek's hard but I think it's more mentally with him because he got beat up by David wicks. Phil and grant would drop him as grant already proved by knocking him out with 1 punch
@samsung12347122 I think Billy would win, too. Although, they did have a tussle in the chip shop in 2001 when Billy was trying to blackmail Ian over the Phil Mitchell shooting, & Ian actually overpowered Billy & had him pinned against the wall before threatening him & sending him packing empty-handed, so who knows.
@samsung12347122 Pete died in 1993 though, & Ian & Phil's feud hadn't begun then, but no doubt if Pete had been around he would certainly have taken against Phil over his bullying of his son, yes. It's interest though that Phil is definately the brainier one out of him & Grant, however, there was no way Grant would've got stitched-up by Den like Phil did because Grant would never have been stupid enough to trust one of his adversaries, Grant didn't trust anybody, & certainly not his rivals.
@Pitvp2 I never understood why Den was highly thought of as a hardman because, when you think about it, he actually never had any real good fights at-all during his 80's stint in the show. He was mentally tough as he always kept a cool head & was a bit of a rogue, but honestly, Den really never did much to prove he was that hard against any serious opponents. Pete Beale was tough, & it's a shame him & Den were such good mates because they could've had a good scrap. Nah, I stand by my choices.
@Pitvp2 Yeah, funny enough that was the very first thing that we saw when Eastenders began in 1985; Den Watts kicking in the door to Reg Cox's flat & finding him dead. So Den was hard when picking fights with inanimate objects, is that what you are telling me?lol
Eastenders toughest 1st Grant 2nd dan 3rd Phil 4th Dennis rickman 5th den watts 6th jack branning 7th Sean slater 8th johnny Allen 9th Lucas Johnson 10th Steve owen
@samsung12347122 Good list. The top 4 are all the same as mine, however, Den Watts wouldn't be at 5th be about 8th & I'd have Clyde Tavernier in there. Here's mine: 1) Grant 2) Dan 3) Phil 4) Dennis 5) Jack 6) Sean 7) Clyde 8) Den Watts 9) Johnny Allen 10) Angel Hudson. I think the top 4 are so far ahead they're in a league of their own, but it's difficult between 5th & 10th because there's about 10 or so characters that are pretty closely matched.
too many comments to keep track of lol anyway youre the only one here "making excuses" for things! i just consider a punch/fight as a punch/fight! but if youre gunna say crap like that, it was Jack that was stopped by the oh-so powerful Shirley lol! and Peggy/Ronnie didnt do anything after the other punch lol! its also very obvious Phil battered Den! dont waste your time denying it! and i dont remember the Grant or Dan things youre talking about there but would like to see them, anyway calm down
@RazzaBeeDaSilva Den knocked out Phil with a stool and Jack and Dennis both stated they could go toe-to-toe with him but remember, this is Phil and he's been there longest-they generally won't let him get hit because it tarnished his hardman rep
@ronki23 that Den stool thing is nothing to be proud of, it was actually cowardly because he needed a weapon! and had to trick Phil into turning around so he could deliver a cheap shot with a chair! but Den had to do it because he knew he was getting owned so a smart move on his part i guess! Phil battered him though!
@ronki23 that debt collector obviously had his big monkey boys though didnt he! and he did stand up to them in the end when he was ready to fight! but then 2 more guys walked in and it was 4 on 1 against Phil lol obviously ended up getting battered
@Pitvp2 i said it was clever, in one respect! cause he was getting battered and he saved himself with a smart move! but still cowardly for using a weapon! AND having to make him turn his back!
@RazzaBeeDaSilva You expect a 60 year old man to be fully fit against man who is 20 years younger than him lol. Other than that Phil was the one who got knocked out lol
@Pitvp2 how many times do i have to say it was a smart move in his situation!! but obviously cowardly though for using a weapon from behind to knock him out.. nothing to be proud of! and i was just saying, Phil battered him, clearly! and no tbh not expecting anything realistic.. its a soap opera!
@RazzaBeeDaSilva I agree with you, butt - Den Watts got hammered physically by Phil, Phil destroyed him with one hand. Although, anything goes in a brawl & although it was cowardly, Den used his head & gained the upper-hand with a prop, it wasn't right, but it worked for him at the time. Phil is solid there's no denying that - I think people need to calm down because the only two guys that could match or arguably beat Phil in EE history are Grant or Dan, no one else.
@ardbastard1 yeah thats what ive been trying to say, it was still a smart move by Den considering! but these Phil-haters seriously need to stop pretending Den didnt get battered lol
@RazzaBeeDaSilva Yeah, there is alot of unfair Phil bashing on here & it's coming from people who clearly enjoy the battles between the EE badboys & they need reminding that all the violent gangland storylines over the years have always had Phil's character right at the heart of them all & is the reason they've kept watching EE till now, so I thing he deserves a little more appreciation from people. He's the reason many people have stayed interested in the show, that needs to be remembered.:)
@ardbastard1 Are you telling me that Sean Slater couldn't beat Phil?? Phil is 51 years old, slowed down and short...Sean slater is young, been in the army, and decked a few people in the show, even strung his ex army mate upside down if I remember rightly.Yes Phil punched him, and Sean never retaliated because of Roxy.
what was Phil actually trying to do by grabbing Dan like this anyway? lol not exactly a wall to pin him up against or anything! and he wasnt going to hit him :S wierd move by Phil! he was just upset about Lisa/baby and being clumsy here lol
@RazzaBeeDaSilva Phil grabbed dan to his throat, Dan pinned phil against the wall, and restrained him like a little kid. You always make excuse for phil when he got bashed up by grant, overpowered by Dan, Punched by Dennis and lost the battle to den watts.
@Pitvp2 make excuses? grow up! i havent made any excuses! i was just joking about what Phil was actually trying to do here with Dan because he grabbed his coat as though he was trying to pin HIM against a wall even though there wasnt one! why would i make any excuse about this clip which I uploaded and titled 'Dan out-muscles Phil'! Phil asked Grant to hurt him and let him do it, as you well know! Phil battered Den but got outsmarted and Phil punched Dennis... TWICE! not excuses.. just Facts! :|
@RazzaBeeDaSilva Phil was definetly going to hit Dan, as this clip shows he went for the attack and grabbed his throat which was a surprise attack made dan stumble but Dan used his strength to overpower phil and restrain him, Dan clearly physically owned phil here and numerous occasions.
@Pitvp2 what the hell are you smoking?! lol. chillout about it! and you say im the one making excuses? if someones hit someone i just leave it at that, and yes, even when Phil gets hit! you are just creating daft theories!! Phil clearly battered Den! and with one arm! even Den admitted it and had to hide behind the bar with a glass bottle to protect himself! dont be one of the sad people that try to deny that! and i dont remember Grant or Dan taking Phil! would like to see the videos
@RazzaBeeDaSilva I'm not 100% sure what Phil's intention for going for Dan was either.Phil must've thought Dan was gonna be alot easier to overpower than he proved to be, that's obvious. Phil did stuggle with quite how to deal with Dan as, for the first time ever, he had a nemesis he couldn't intimidate or beat with physical-strength. They may have been enemies but I think they had a mutual respect for eachother as they were wiery of making the 1st move because both were afraid they might lose .
lets all try to round this off lol i think Phil would definately beat Jack! obvious one IMO!
and i think Phil & Grant are the two hardest in EE history! Dan and Dennis would come into it next for me! but Phil and Grant are the ones who have proved themselves the most! especially Phil, against the other 'hardmen' anyway, including Grant himself! ...and i think the whole Dan/Phil thing was a draw overall! we didnt see enough! but like i say, i think Phil would win a punch up!
I reckon Dan's sucker-punch was impressive though, as I already stated ages ago because he sparked Phil out with it. Also, you have to admit, when Phil went for Dan here, he caught Dan off guard & Dan was clearly on the backfoot when Phil grabbed him, & the surprise of the attack had Dan stumbling back, but Dan still managed to gain the upper-hand & get Phil pinned.I'm probably in a minority of around 30% or so of people who think Dan would beat Phil but that's what I think. Dan's a brickwall.
@ardbastard1 exactly! Dan punch made Phil unconscious, Dan owned numerous occassion in physical battle. In the arches Dan I think dropped the gun when jamie came in, and Phil went to snatch the gun, and Dan punched him straight to the face. In the end Dan won the battle.
saying Phils punches to Jack were meaningless sucker punches? ok then just contradict yourself because Dan's punched to Phil was a sucker punch! as was Dennis' punch to Phil! as was Christians... I could go on!! Phil would kill Jack! the only people Jack has proved himself to be a "hardman" against are Max and Michael Moon! Alfie Moon was even too much for Jack at one point lol! and Phil took Dan down and had him begging at one point, until Dan was saved by Mel turning out the lights
@RazzaBeeDaSilva Actually Phil had a gun pointed to Dan so that point is flawed, but Dan punched phil and he went down like a ton of brick and he physically overpowered phil in this clip so dan did restrain phil effortlessly.. I just think jack & Phil have not had a proper fight so you can draw conclusion from it, don't forget ronnie and peggy and shirley saved him when he punched jack both times. and alfie moon example is bogus as that was a different situation.
@RazzaBeeDaSilva Phil, when ever he punched sean and jack, they didn't fight back as peggy was the first one there, and shirley came in between when phil sucker punched jack.
@RazzaBeeDaSilva Sorry but I'm not sure if this message is aimed at me or not so I'll answer anyway. I don't think sucker-punches are "meaningless" they put the point across at the time, but I think they can't be taken into account as being relevant to who's harder. When you are going toe-to-toe with someone that's when we discover who's the hardest, not from sucker-punches. I am actually on your side, I have stated that I think Jack would beat Phil in a straight fight.
Cheers. I have followed the Mitchells all through their time in EE, so much so they were the reason I watched it in the first place. Yes, the Mitchells do own the Square. Personally, I think that Grant is just that bit harder than Phil, but not by much. Plus, I think there's a question-mark over who in a straight fight between Dan Sullivan & Phil would come out on top, but there's no question in my mind that Phil would destroy anyone else - yes, even Sean-overrated-Slater (before anyone asks).
Jack never wanted 'beef' with Phil, Phil just felt threatened by Jack as Jack can clearly handle himself, had money to create an empire in the Square, & the Mitchell's don't like coppers -whether retired or not. I do think Phil would beat Jack, but Jack would put up a hell of a fight. Phil is harshly attacked by people on here, he's probed himself on countless occasions, I'm sure the people slagging him off are either overlooking how hard he was in his prime or are to young to have seen it.
@ardbastard1 yeah you talk sense! EE was at its best when Phil was in his prime between about 1999-2003! he owned the square! you can tell the difference between the prime Phil and Phil now by just watching them older episodes and looking at him! how he strutts around like the main man with everyone scared of him! legend!
@ardbastard1 I started following EE addictively during Cindy & Ian Beale storyline. I agree Phil was hard back in his prime but I'm talking about today, he's well past his prime and is 50 plus out of shape old man. I agree with sean, so far he hasn't really beat anyone up apart from weakling Max and Deano, he met his match with Jack and didn't beat jack up as overrated kids think he did lol. I agree Jack will put up a fight with Phil, after all he has a bit of boxing background.
@Pitvp2 Christian's punch didn't mean nothing - any guy his size/weight who sticks a punch on someone's nose is highly likely to do some damage. I respect Christian for standing his ground, but if Phil had retaliated - even now when Phil's far based his best - Christian would've got destroyed. Phil didn't fight him because he wanted to do Christian a lot of damage & so went & got a weapon. Phil would own Christian, but then Christian isn't a violent man anyway so it wouldn't be that impressive.
@ardbastard1 I agree Phil would beat christian but its just an example razzabeedasilva uses that sucker punch on jack as an example phil beat jack up lol, its just not the best example to draw a conclusion on the outcome on who won as they never really properly had a fight. Though I remember Jack in his first 2 months asking phil to fight him and see how long he last.
Regarding Dan, Dan came on top here when phil went for his throat, so clearly dan wud rip phil to shreds & he knocked phil out
@Pitvp2 Yeah, I have been quite outspoken on the fact that I believe Dan would take Phil, although it's a shame they never properly squared-off because it would've been a fucking epic punch-up. Also, I do agree you can't go by the fact that Phil decked Jack once because, yeah, it was a sucker-punch, but I do reckon even if they fought fairly, even now Phil would be to much for Jack.
@Pitvp2 People keep mentioning on here that Phil backed out when Jack asked him for a scrap, but that wasn't the case: Jack warned Phil that if Phil hit him again, then next time things might not go quite his way. So it's not like Jack was asking Phil for a scrap & Phil pussied out, but people seem to be interpreting it like that. Plus, before Jack got to that point, Phil had already punched him, asked him for a fight & attempted to drive him from Walford. Jack is scared of Phil if you ask me.
@Pitvp2 I don't think the violence has really decreased for any particular reason, but there's no real rivalry in the Square up to now, so that plays a part. Phil going on the rampage with a baseball bat a few weeks ago was quite violent, you had all the stuff with Archie's murder & what lead up to it, Jase's murder & the gang invasion if the Vic, Sean's bullying of Deano & Billy Jackson's gang storyline - all since 2005. So I don't really think its toned-down that much.
@Pitvp2 I agree that Jack can possibly beat Sean, but then Phil is harder than Sean anyway. Sean is often overrated, particularly by the young niave kids on YouTube, who think Phil is nothing but are to young to have seen him pre his return in 2005 when he was a much more intimidating presence. In relation to your smooth operator comment: Steve Owen defined the term as a EE character, & he always will.
@ardbastard1 I agree with steve owen, thats why writers don't know what to make jack as, I think Jack can pass as both, but hasn't been given enough material for it. Violence has reduced a lot since 2005, I don't know why.
@guvnor1988 Fair point. Jack Branning, though... really? I mean, he's no wuss, but I wouldn't consider him anywhere near Grant's league & I would put Dan, Dennis & Phil down as to much for him, too. I'd put him in the same league as, the overrated, Sean Slater & the always overlooked tough-guy Clyde Tavernier, which would be the league below the top 4 I mentioned.
@ardbastard1 I think EE don't know what make Jack as. Do they want him to be smooth and calculating character or the rough and tough man. I think Jack has both, he has definitively has a physical presence and take on Phil, but then again he was also supposed to be a smooth operator.
@ardbastard1 If Jack can take on Sean Slater who is an ex marine, then I think he can take on Phil and Dennis at least if given the chance. But I think Dan & Grant will be too much for him. He can easily take on Phil who is well over 50 & out of shape.
@ma675 But Jack was not in for a fight, so I don't class it as a fair fight, Gary, Christian both floored Phil, even Billy did it once, but in noway I can judge the outcome based on unexpected punch.
@Pitvp2 Christian and Billy have both punched Phil yeah but they didnt 'floor' him!! Alfie has certainly floored Jack! and Ronnie almost did but Jack landed leaned against a chair! Phil in his prime (and even still at the times he hit them both) is definately harder than Jack and Sean! the hardest in EE history are Phil & Grant! period! theyve proved themselves much more than any other hardmen! ive even got a little 'Phil vs Jack' video that you could check out! Phil owns him all day long!
@RazzaBeeDaSilva but christian gave phil a bleed when phil was goin a him, & he then got a baseball bat. the fact is jack & phil never had a proper fight, jack didn't intend to fight.
@Pitvp2 because Jack knows he would get owned, he is scared of Phil, Phil offered him out and Jack didnt wanna fight him! Phil has smackeed him twice! one of which nearly knocked him spark out! Jack is nothing to Phil, and that Christian thing was a nothing punch!
I don't think there'd be much in it, but I personally would give Dan the edge. Even Grant struggled to keep Dan at bay physically in '99 when Dan went for Ricky in the Vic, Grant had to restrain him & let's just say he didn't find it easy. Plus, Dan knocked Phil out in one punch during the ransom hand-over; sucker-punch or not, Phil dropped like a tonne of bricks. I know you are a Phil Mitchell fan & although he possibly could beat Dan, there's no doubt in my mind that Grant would beat Phil.
@ardbastard1 It's always hard to restrain someone when they're angry, Andy had 2 thugs on Dennis in the Vic and he managed to fight free, that's how he ended up punching Sharon. Grant couldn't do to Phil or Dan what he did to Dennis probably because Dennis was lighter but they'd be some interesting match ups. Phil's fights nowadays are just 1 punch affairs with nothing being determined except he can hit someone. I'd like to have seen Jack Branning vs Dan vs Grant (any 2 of those 3)
Dan should come back, he seems like the only type who could put Derek Branning in his place!

Not always about height Phil has beaten many people taller than him. But i do think is slightly tougher
samsung12347122 1 month ago
@samsung12347122 Yea i agree it's not always about height, but considering Dan is very handy and strong. The height certainly doesn't hurt him, Phil Mitchell is a tough SOB but i think he met his match here.
icecold21uncharted 1 month ago
I think Dan is harder he's taller, bigger, and stronger IMO, you always come across someone who is harder. I mean he's 6 foot 3 and Phil is 5 foot 8 big difference.

samsung12347122 2 months ago
@CanadianMaster1 The list of hardest men is generally judged by when each character are in their prime fighting-form whilst in the series because that's the fairest way to do it, but yes, I still think Phil, even as he is now, would be to much for Sean. Put it this way, Phil is still good enough to beat Jack, & I think Sean & Jack are about on par with eachother. Phil's well passed his best, but is still harder than them. He will be to old to beat Sean one day, but it hasn't come yet.

His real life dad is an actual gangster
samsung12347122 2 months ago
@samsung12347122 Yeah, Freddy Foreman. He was involved in disposing of the body of the guy Reggie Kray murdered in the sixties that lead to his life imprisonment; I think, if I remember correctly from reading the book, the victim was named Jack something.
ardbastard1 2 months ago
Anyone remember Jamie Foreman who plays Derek Branning when he played one of the brothers in ITV's Essex gangster series The Family? Jamie played the older more psychotic brother alongside Martin Kemp, it only lasted a series before it was cancelled, but Jamie was quite convincingly menacing as the hardman & there are certain elements & mannerisms to his performance as Derek that he clearly has taken from that character he portrayed. He was also a nutter-job in Gangster No.1 & Nil By Mouth, too.
ardbastard1 2 months ago
Everyone's sayin Derek's hard but I think it's more mentally with him because he got beat up by David wicks. Phil and grant would drop him as grant already proved by knocking him out with 1 punch

@samsung12347122 I think Billy would win, too. Is pete Beale Ian dad? Cus if he is he could of helped Ian when he was being bullied by Phil
samsung12347122 2 months ago
@samsung12347122 Pete died in 1993 though, & Ian & Phil's feud hadn't begun then, but no doubt if Pete had been around he would certainly have taken against Phil over his bullying of his son, yes. It's interest though that Phil is definately the brainier one out of him & Grant, however, there was no way Grant would've got stitched-up by Den like Phil did because Grant would never have been stupid enough to trust one of his adversaries, Grant didn't trust anybody, & certainly not his rivals.
ardbastard1 2 months ago
@Pitvp2 I never understood why Den was highly thought of as a hardman because, when you think about it, he actually never had any real good fights at-all during his 80's stint in the show. He was mentally tough as he always kept a cool head & was a bit of a rogue, but honestly, Den really never did much to prove he was that hard against any serious opponents. Pete Beale was tough, & it's a shame him & Den were such good mates because they could've had a good scrap. Nah, I stand by my choices.
ardbastard1 2 months ago
@ardbastard1 he used to kicked the locked doors open and he was pretty scary.
Pitvp2 2 months ago
@Pitvp2 Yeah, funny enough that was the very first thing that we saw when Eastenders began in 1985; Den Watts kicking in the door to Reg Cox's flat & finding him dead. So Den was hard when picking fights with inanimate objects, is that what you are telling me?lol
ardbastard1 2 months ago

samsung12347122 2 months ago
samsung12347122 2 months ago
@samsung12347122 Good list. The top 4 are all the same as mine, however, Den Watts wouldn't be at 5th be about 8th & I'd have Clyde Tavernier in there. Here's mine: 1) Grant 2) Dan 3) Phil 4) Dennis 5) Jack 6) Sean 7) Clyde 8) Den Watts 9) Johnny Allen 10) Angel Hudson. I think the top 4 are so far ahead they're in a league of their own, but it's difficult between 5th & 10th because there's about 10 or so characters that are pretty closely matched.
ardbastard1 2 months ago
@ardbastard1 I think Den Watts would been higher up in the list if he was younger, he was the original hardman in EE after-all.

too many comments to keep track of lol anyway youre the only one here "making excuses" for things! i just consider a punch/fight as a punch/fight! but if youre gunna say crap like that, it was Jack that was stopped by the oh-so powerful Shirley lol! and Peggy/Ronnie didnt do anything after the other punch lol! its also very obvious Phil battered Den! dont waste your time denying it! and i dont remember the Grant or Dan things youre talking about there but would like to see them, anyway calm down
RazzaBeeDaSilva 2 months ago
@RazzaBeeDaSilva Den knocked out Phil with a stool and Jack and Dennis both stated they could go toe-to-toe with him but remember, this is Phil and he's been there longest-they generally won't let him get hit because it tarnished his hardman rep
ronki23 2 months ago
@ronki23 that Den stool thing is nothing to be proud of, it was actually cowardly because he needed a weapon! and had to trick Phil into turning around so he could deliver a cheap shot with a chair! but Den had to do it because he knew he was getting owned so a smart move on his part i guess! Phil battered him though!
RazzaBeeDaSilva 2 months ago
@RazzaBeeDaSilva You've got to be realistic right? A man in his late 50's/early 60s vs a man in his late 40's and bigger too.

RazzaBeeDaSilva 2 months ago
@RazzaBeeDaSilva I agree with you, butt - Den Watts got hammered physically by Phil, Phil destroyed him with one hand. Although, anything goes in a brawl & although it was cowardly, Den used his head & gained the upper-hand with a prop, it wasn't right, but it worked for him at the time. Phil is solid there's no denying that - I think people need to calm down because the only two guys that could match or arguably beat Phil in EE history are Grant or Dan, no one else.
ardbastard1 2 months ago 2
@ardbastard1 yeah thats what ive been trying to say, it was still a smart move by Den considering! but these Phil-haters seriously need to stop pretending Den didnt get battered lol
RazzaBeeDaSilva 2 months ago
@RazzaBeeDaSilva Yeah, there is alot of unfair Phil bashing on here & it's coming from people who clearly enjoy the battles between the EE badboys & they need reminding that all the violent gangland storylines over the years have always had Phil's character right at the heart of them all & is the reason they've kept watching EE till now, so I thing he deserves a little more appreciation from people. He's the reason many people have stayed interested in the show, that needs to be remembered.:)

what was Phil actually trying to do by grabbing Dan like this anyway? lol not exactly a wall to pin him up against or anything! and he wasnt going to hit him :S wierd move by Phil! he was just upset about Lisa/baby and being clumsy here lol
RazzaBeeDaSilva 2 months ago
@RazzaBeeDaSilva Phil grabbed dan to his throat, Dan pinned phil against the wall, and restrained him like a little kid. You always make excuse for phil when he got bashed up by grant, overpowered by Dan, Punched by Dennis and lost the battle to den watts.
Pitvp2 2 months ago
@Pitvp2 make excuses? grow up! i havent made any excuses! i was just joking about what Phil was actually trying to do here with Dan because he grabbed his coat as though he was trying to pin HIM against a wall even though there wasnt one! why would i make any excuse about this clip which I uploaded and titled 'Dan out-muscles Phil'! Phil asked Grant to hurt him and let him do it, as you well know! Phil battered Den but got outsmarted and Phil punched Dennis... TWICE! not excuses.. just Facts! :|
RazzaBeeDaSilva 2 months ago
@RazzaBeeDaSilva and he didn't batter den, just caught him ofguard. actually i remember some clips in 90s phil went for grant and grant owned him
Pitvp2 2 months ago
@RazzaBeeDaSilva Phil was definetly going to hit Dan, as this clip shows he went for the attack and grabbed his throat which was a surprise attack made dan stumble but Dan used his strength to overpower phil and restrain him, Dan clearly physically owned phil here and numerous occasions.
Pitvp2 2 months ago
@Pitvp2 what the hell are you smoking?! lol. chillout about it! and you say im the one making excuses? if someones hit someone i just leave it at that, and yes, even when Phil gets hit! you are just creating daft theories!! Phil clearly battered Den! and with one arm! even Den admitted it and had to hide behind the bar with a glass bottle to protect himself! dont be one of the sad people that try to deny that! and i dont remember Grant or Dan taking Phil! would like to see the videos
RazzaBeeDaSilva 2 months ago
@RazzaBeeDaSilva I'm not 100% sure what Phil's intention for going for Dan was either.Phil must've thought Dan was gonna be alot easier to overpower than he proved to be, that's obvious. Phil did stuggle with quite how to deal with Dan as, for the first time ever, he had a nemesis he couldn't intimidate or beat with physical-strength. They may have been enemies but I think they had a mutual respect for eachother as they were wiery of making the 1st move because both were afraid they might lose .
ardbastard1 2 months ago
lets all try to round this off lol i think Phil would definately beat Jack! obvious one IMO!
and i think Phil & Grant are the two hardest in EE history!
RazzaBeeDaSilva 2 months ago
@RazzaBeeDaSilva Your making excuses for Dan overpowering phil physically, I agree grant was the hardest, though den was the smartest of all.
Pitvp2 2 months ago
@Pitvp2 LMFAO I certainly can't deny your passion in a debate.
ardbastard1 2 months ago
I reckon Dan's sucker-punch was impressive though, as I already stated ages ago because he sparked Phil out with it. Also, you have to admit, when Phil went for Dan here, he caught Dan off guard & Dan was clearly on the backfoot when Phil grabbed him, & the surprise of the attack had Dan stumbling back, but Dan still managed to gain the upper-hand & get Phil pinned.I'm probably in a minority of around 30% or so of people who think Dan would beat Phil but that's what I think. Dan's a brickwall.
ardbastard1 2 months ago
@ardbastard1 exactly! Dan punch made Phil unconscious, Dan owned numerous occassion in physical battle. In the arches Dan I think dropped the gun when jamie came in, and Phil went to snatch the gun, and Dan punched him straight to the face. In the end Dan won the battle.
Pitvp2 2 months ago
saying Phils punches to Jack were meaningless sucker punches? ok then just contradict yourself because Dan's punched to Phil was a sucker punch! as was Dennis' punch to Phil! as was Christians...
RazzaBeeDaSilva 2 months ago
@RazzaBeeDaSilva Actually Phil had a gun pointed to Dan so that point is flawed, but Dan punched phil and he went down like a ton of brick and he physically overpowered phil in this clip so dan did restrain phil effortlessly.. I just think jack & Phil have not had a proper fight so you can draw conclusion from it, don't forget ronnie and peggy and shirley saved him when he punched jack both times. and alfie moon example is bogus as that was a different situation.
Pitvp2 2 months ago
@Pitvp2 Ronnie, Peggy and Shirley saved who? :S
RazzaBeeDaSilva 2 months ago
@RazzaBeeDaSilva Phil, when ever he punched sean and jack, they didn't fight back as peggy was the first one there, and shirley came in between when phil sucker punched jack.
Pitvp2 2 months ago

Plus, I think there's a question-mark over who in a straight fight between Dan Sullivan & Phil would come out on top, but there's no question in my mind that Phil would destroy anyone else - yes, even Sean-overrated-Slater (before anyone asks).
ardbastard1 2 months ago
Jack never wanted 'beef' with Phil, Phil just felt threatened by Jack as Jack can clearly handle himself, had money to create an empire in the Square, & the Mitchell's don't like coppers -whether retired or not. I do think Phil would beat Jack, but Jack would put up a hell of a fight. Phil is harshly attacked by people on here, he's probed himself on countless occasions, I'm sure the people slagging him off are either overlooking how hard he was in his prime or are to young to have seen it.
ardbastard1 2 months ago
@ardbastard1 yeah you talk sense! EE was at its best when Phil was in his prime between about 1999-2003! he owned the square! you can tell the difference between the prime Phil and Phil now by just watching them older episodes and looking at him! how he strutts around like the main man with everyone scared of him! legend!
RazzaBeeDaSilva 2 months ago 7
@ardbastard1 I started following EE addictively during Cindy & Ian Beale storyline. I agree Phil was hard back in his prime but I'm talking about today, he's well past his prime and is 50 plus out of shape old man. I agree with sean, so far he hasn't really beat anyone up apart from weakling Max and Deano, he met his match with Jack and didn't beat jack up as overrated kids think he did lol. I agree Jack will put up a fight with Phil, after all he has a bit of boxing background.
Pitvp2 2 months ago
@Pitvp2 Christian's punch didn't mean nothing - any guy his size/weight who sticks a punch on someone's nose is highly likely to do some damage. I respect Christian for standing his ground, but if Phil had retaliated - even now when Phil's far based his best - Christian would've got destroyed. Phil didn't fight him because he wanted to do Christian a lot of damage & so went & got a weapon. Phil would own Christian, but then Christian isn't a violent man anyway so it wouldn't be that impressive.
ardbastard1 2 months ago

Also, I do agree you can't go by the fact that Phil decked Jack once because, yeah, it was a sucker-punch, but I do reckon even if they fought fairly, even now Phil would be to much for Jack.
ardbastard1 2 months ago
@Pitvp2 People keep mentioning on here that Phil backed out when Jack asked him for a scrap, but that wasn't the case: Jack warned Phil that if Phil hit him again, then next time things might not go quite his way. So it's not like Jack was asking Phil for a scrap & Phil pussied out, but people seem to be interpreting it like that. Plus, before Jack got to that point, Phil had already punched him, asked him for a fight & attempted to drive him from Walford. Jack is scared of Phil if you ask me.
ardbastard1 2 months ago
ok so who does everyone think would win in a fight out of these two guys???
toneboy101 2 months ago
@Pitvp2 I don't think the violence has really decreased for any particular reason, but there's no real rivalry in the Square up to now, so that plays a part. Phil going on the rampage with a baseball bat a few weeks ago was quite violent, you had all the stuff with Archie's murder & what lead up to it, Jase's murder & the gang invasion if the Vic, Sean's bullying of Deano & Billy Jackson's gang storyline - all since 2005. So I don't really think its toned-down that much.
ardbastard1 2 months ago
@Pitvp2 I agree that Jack can possibly beat Sean, but then Phil is harder than Sean anyway. Sean is often overrated, particularly by the young niave kids on YouTube, who think Phil is nothing but are to young to have seen him pre his return in 2005 when he was a much more intimidating presence. In relation to your smooth operator comment: Steve Owen defined the term as a EE character, & he always will.
ardbastard1 2 months ago
@ardbastard1 I agree with steve owen, thats why writers don't know what to make jack as, I think Jack can pass as both, but hasn't been given enough material for it. Violence has reduced a lot since 2005, I don't know why.
Pitvp2 2 months ago
@guvnor1988 Fair point. Jack Branning, though... really? I mean, he's no wuss, but I wouldn't consider him anywhere near Grant's league & I would put Dan, Dennis & Phil down as to much for him, too. I'd put him in the same league as, the overrated, Sean Slater & the always overlooked tough-guy Clyde Tavernier, which would be the league below the top 4 I mentioned.
ardbastard1 2 months ago
@ardbastard1 I think EE don't know what make Jack as. Do they want him to be smooth and calculating character or the rough and tough man. I think Jack has both, he has definitively has a physical presence and take on Phil, but then again he was also supposed to be a smooth operator.
Pitvp2 2 months ago
@ardbastard1 If Jack can take on Sean Slater who is an ex marine, then I think he can take on Phil and Dennis at least if given the chance. But I think Dan & Grant will be too much for him. He can easily take on Phil who is well over 50 & out of shape.
Pitvp2 2 months ago
@Pitvp2 Phil floored Jack with one punch only a couple of years ago actually
ma675 2 months ago
@ma675 but that was hardly a fight
Pitvp2 2 months ago
@Pitvp2 Still, if Jack can't even take one punch from Phil he couldn't win a fight against him.
ma675 2 months ago
@ma675 But Jack was not in for a fight, so I don't class it as a fair fight, Gary, Christian both floored Phil, even Billy did it once, but in noway I can judge the outcome based on unexpected punch.
Pitvp2 2 months ago
@Pitvp2 Christian and Billy have both punched Phil yeah but they didnt 'floor' him!! Alfie has certainly floored Jack! and Ronnie almost did but Jack landed leaned against a chair! Phil in his prime (and even still at the times he hit them both) is definately harder than Jack and Sean! the hardest in EE history are Phil & Grant! period! theyve proved themselves much more than any other hardmen! ive even got a little 'Phil vs Jack' video that you could check out! Phil owns him all day long!
RazzaBeeDaSilva 2 months ago
@RazzaBeeDaSilva but christian gave phil a bleed when phil was goin a him, & he then got a baseball bat. the fact is jack & phil never had a proper fight, jack didn't intend to fight.
Pitvp2 2 months ago
@Pitvp2 because Jack knows he would get owned, he is scared of Phil, Phil offered him out and Jack didnt wanna fight him! Phil has smackeed him twice! one of which nearly knocked him spark out! Jack is nothing to Phil, and that Christian thing was a nothing punch!
RazzaBeeDaSilva 2 months ago
I don't think there'd be much in it, but I personally would give Dan the edge. Even Grant struggled to keep Dan at bay physically in '99 when Dan went for Ricky in the Vic, Grant had to restrain him & let's just say he didn't find it easy. Plus, Dan knocked Phil out in one punch during the ransom hand-over; sucker-punch or not, Phil dropped like a tonne of bricks. I know you are a Phil Mitchell fan & although he possibly could beat Dan, there's no doubt in my mind that Grant would beat Phil.
ardbastard1 2 months ago
@ardbastard1 It's always hard to restrain someone when they're angry, Andy had 2 thugs on Dennis in the Vic and he managed to fight free, that's how he ended up punching Sharon. Grant couldn't do to Phil or Dan what he did to Dennis probably because Dennis was lighter but they'd be some interesting match ups. Phil's fights nowadays are just 1 punch affairs with nothing being determined except he can hit someone. I'd like to have seen Jack Branning vs Dan vs Grant (any 2 of those 3)
guvnor1988 2 months ago
i think both Grant and Phil could take Dan! you cant judge anything from this little 2 second pushing contest anyway!
RazzaBeeDaSilva 2 months ago 14
@toneboy101 I very much doubt it, but I reckon it would definately be the toughest challenge Grant has ever faced; &
Grant certainly couldn't do to Dan what he done to Dennis Rickman.
