I could listen to this again and again, George. Many pianists at conservatoria essay this sonata but very few really play this movement as it should go. You do. and you do not quietly ignore the difficult bits such as the cross accents, piano subitos etc. I like the way you bring out the interesting bits too such as theme re-entries etc.
It is incredible to think that Beethoven could put so much good humour, laughter and joking into his first period sonatas. His mother died when he was and his father took up heavy drinking. So that his father didn't piss all his wages up against a wall one-half was garnisheed to Ludvig van so that the needs of his siblings could be provided for.
Early Beethoven is wonderful. You swallowed this whole, George. Beautifully nuanced and your piano subitos ACTUALLY happened. This movement is VERY difficult to play. And it is marked "Presto". You thoroughly enjoyed every note of this as did I! And you played the second repeat which proved that your execution was no accident - as if it could possibly have been an accident!
I just love early Beethoven. Can't you hear Beethoven laughing in this piece. This great performance has lots of vim and vigor that it needs to come alive. George is sure giving this movement its due!
Bravo! I only just watched this video because I wanted to wait until the whole sonata was posted =) It was well worth the wait. Few people play this sonata, and even fewer play it well.
Another OUTSTANDING performance, George. Our family will always be one of your biggest fans. You truly bring this to life and allow each of us to really feel this piece, we were talking about it for quite some time at dinner this evening. TY TY!!!
AWESOME George!!!!

I think George needs to do more than just look after his hands. He needs to insure them with Lloyds of London! Fantastic performance, George!!
