i bought a d945gbo to replace the d945gcz mobo in my gateway gt5012 and was wonderin this: where do i get the front panel to make use of 4x usb headers (total is 8x usb w/ 4 in rear port) when my original pc only has 3x usb (1 usb w/ media card reader & 2x usb w/ 2x firewire(i dont need this) & the mic/headphone jacks)? installation of mobo will be done by a pro of course, not myself.
Hi try google for 'front panel' and look for front panels with 4 usb connectors. There are front panels for 3.5 '' slot and for 5.4 inch slots. I am too busy to help you all the way through. I'm sorry :(
How do i make sure that the new motherboard that i am making will align perfectly with the multiple screw holes of my case? do most cases have multiple screw holes to align the motherboard with? are all motherboards a set size? or do i run the risk that even if my new motherboard does fit in my case, it still won't align with the screw holes?
I have tried to install a ASRock P4VM890 Socket 478Intel Motherboard w/ PCI-E 16 into an (2003 purchased) hp pavilion a335w computer. The installion went fine and i got everything plugged in and attached, but when i tried to turn it on, it say not recognized and wants me to restore the computer to the last known settings and when i tried to do that it just goes back to he same thing, and i just put the original motherboard back in. What should i do? or is there any advice/tips you could give me
Hi David, the problem is that windows xp detects a motherboard when you install it and installs parts that it needs for that certain motherboard so when you replace the motherboard all hope is lost for that already installed windows and you have to install a new windows on that computer. you could install it on another harddrive and then later mount the old harddrive as a second harddrive so you can copy files like the files in 'my documents' of the old harddrive to your new harddrive.good luck!
@maicod but if you buy a computer with windows xp, isnt it already on the hard drive? If not then is there any way i could jus transfer it to the hard for the motherboard to approve it? I dont have a windows cd because i bought this computer new and I really dont wanna have to buy something i already have.
well if a new computer comes with windows xp pre-installed it comes with either restore-cds or a bootcd (then the restore-information is on a hidden partition of the harddisk) BUT I have bad news because the license incorporated in this windows is made for the specific hardware (motherboard) and so a new motherboard will not work with these restore-cds I'm afraid. I know it sucks :( The new computer guys pay less for a windows that is limited for a certain hardware only. Its all about money :(
@maicod ok thx, so if i buy the windows xp boot disk, would i load that onto the computer (hard drive) before i take out the old motherboard again.....i hate to keep bothering you but im just tryin to get my moneys worth out of the new motherboard becuase i've already bought it and looking at it now sittin on my table and i hate to just say forget it (wasted).
Asus has 5 year warranty on motherboards My motherboard had trouble so I returned to store and thay did everything for me for administration cost of $20 and returned my PC after a week.
ok guys i got a question i have a dell dimention 2400 it has a 2ghz processor ddr1 ram i got a video card for it the best one i could find for ddr1 the dimond 256 video card which dosnt support shadder 2.0 figures want i really want is a gaming pc oww yea somthing that run online games better this one is ok but its laggy wile running my music im a huge gamer is there anyway i can jsut change some stuff to upgrade the video card or do i need a new motherboard if so wat should get that fts an is
It was good, would you be able to make a video on how to take out a processor and install a better one for the HP Pavillion. The Model is p6243w. If you could post one that would be great.Tthanks
Hi, is there any way that i could know what mother board would work for my computer because i only want to replace the motherboard only to upgrade the RAM since my current motherboard max ram is 2 gb and i need more than that
sometimes it is integrated as a chip on the motherboard but often it needs a graphic card and an onboard graphics card is useless for playing games :)

a few days ago i ordered a new ASUS motherboard w/ a AMD Athlon X4 quad core processor and 2 more gb of RAM to add to the 2gb i already have. i also have a 250gb hard drive, 450w power source and an XFX GeForce 8800 Alpha Dog Edition video card. i cant wait to see how Crysis runs on it.
a motherboard consists of so many small electronic components that in the case of a shortening out its virtually impossible to find the culprit and even if found it is hard to replace due to the number of PCB layers. Its better to buy a new one :)
ok. well its already more than a year ago now so in the mean time I replaced its 'guts' with a new mobo/cpu/memory set for only 120 euros. it even got a faster cpu now :)
U can only replace it with the old cpu if u have the right type of motherboard. check the cpu manufacturers website to see what type of motherboard it needs. If the motherboard does not match the cpu, the pins will not fit the contacts on the mother board. hope this helps
"i've got only 10 minutes on Utube.." was funny... you missed out on PSU. PSU could also be dead except mobo, and cpu. anyway, enjoyed watching your video.
If you're unsure about what is wrong, get a diagnostic card, it's good at fault finding, fren! But to get it work, at least system should be able to throw POST message, otherwise no hope..
I really thought they did just like the Swedes. On Dutch TV there is a hilarious program where presenter Eddy Zoey and his cameraman and soundman visit a town and test the hospitality of the residents. In summer they visit other countries and this year they tested 6 towns in Sweden. It appeared most Swedish were very hospitable and speak good english. I can't give a link inhere but if you search on 'nu we er toch zijn zweden' on google the 2nd link will lead you to the show.
haha i just saw it, i was actually planning to just watch a few minutes of it but i actually ended up watching the whole thing, its pretty interesting. i guess people i know can speak basic english, ah well, thanks for sharing
heheh yeah the show is really addictive :) what a bunch of nutheads that make that show huh :) hope you managed to 'understand' a bit of the dutch language
Most ppl are newbies are scared to install a motherboard .. because they are scared to damage something. What's the best option it do it before with a old computer.Deinstall everything and reinstall it. After that you will be much more ready if you want to build a new computeror just upgrading.Once you're confident.Mounting a computer will be cake.
thanks for thinking along with me about the problem but the power supply works fine, as ive installed the new motherboard/cpu/memory and that works fine with the old power supply
