You want to learn all this in top quality DVD's with good instruction and drills Google The Self Defense Company. You call or email them I know you'll get a response, and more importantly get a good product. I'm not saying it will be Carl, but you'll get instruction at his level.
@stecha2 Hi, can you tell me where I can get Carl Cestari's DVDs? I tried emailing Gutterfighting but didn't get a response and Carls website seem to be having technical problems.
As far as I know Raplp Grasso(I know you know him ;-) ) put some VERY cool material of him youtube channel(CQCGRASSO)
Funny thing you mention Carl and weight training...I once read one of the articles where he said what would be the biggest bang for the bucks(a heavy bag and some basic weight training equipment)
I did a little research, came across Bradley Steiner's weight training articles and the 5X5 programm and started gaining strength and muscles like never before.
Techniques which are meant to be learnt in a SHORT period of time by individuals who know these skills can mean the difference between life or death(I hate such phrases)
Anybody who thinks that a little training in combatives will give him equal chances like someone who trains 5 times a week in MMA is WRONG.
I completely agree. Well- almost. I teach this stuff. I also train every day MMA (have a fight begining of next month). However, MMA has rules. For example, the stomp kick to the knee (one of bruce lee's favourites and also mine) is banned in MMA. The game changes depending on the rules, or lack of them. As is neck cranking, windpipe strikes, eye gouges etc... To be honest i think training in both is necessary if you want to deal with combat situations and be sharp enough to handle a trained guy
These techniques were design to defeat a enemy armed/unarmed quickly,& are still effective today. These are the skills needed to survive the streets & battlefield!!
Now first of all Cestari was a Judo Black Belt+ he had several other Blackbelts in other arts(Kenpo Karate, Jiu Jitsu). This is a excerpt from a two day seminar he gave for free which covered Fairbairn'
s and O'Neills System's. The time they had for teaching was usually 1 week in WWII. For a SHORT period of ltime Combatives is great. If you have more time...train more!
But I really get a kick by guys like mmaguy2008 who does not know :
b)posts the usuall arguments he has probably read on bullhido and now thinks he can trash talk about combatives without knowing that Cestari was WAY, WAY more than the WWII Combatives guy.

Great thing that you put the Gutterfighting site up again Mr. Sporman!
Please note that I put these small vids up to show some of Carl Cestaris material and not to get a lot of viewers or subscribers.
I'm just someone who has a interest in combatives.

Is there any legitimate source for the O'neal and Fairbairn video? I just ordered his Old School series and would like more.

Wow, it's been almost 7 years since that seminar took place at Keane Univ. in NJ. I went home pretty beat up from that little shindig.
Just for the record, I'm the guy kneeling down to the right of the screen in the jeans and t-shirt.
I also had the good fortune to train with Carl on a regular basis as I only lived 25 minutes away by car from where he liveed in NJ.
