To be honest the goals to matches return of Rooney wasnt that great before last season. It was only last season that he started scoring a lot of goals. And his goals have dried up for a while now. Just penalties this season I believe. Drogba gets a lot of goals against teams that are not competitive and Chelsea manage to score 4-5 and Drogba gets a couple of them in such games.

Plus the class of Messi can not be true said until he has played in the epl and not just the la liga where the other clubs are not as competitive and the only 2 teams can win the league. Also messi plays with a lot of good players , he might struggle if he didnt have such a good set of players at barcelona

But for Rooney, I think his lack of goals in prior seasons was because he was playing behind Ronaldo and often on the wings, where he gave a lot of assists. As an out-and-out striker though who's in-form, I think he has a great goal return, it's just he's struggled since that fateful night in Munich
