You're right; Achilles is basically the villain. The first time you see him, he's mean to a little kid, and all the way through he's shown as an egomaniacal Nazi douchebag, running some kind of death cult of warrior fanatics. He even gives a Nazi salute from the temple of Apollo. When his cousin is killed, he's more pissed off that people thought he'd been defeated than that he'd lost a relative. A horrible, horrible character, who deserves his ignominious end.
