Are you a moron. Up until about 6 moths ago we were one of the richest countires in the world, with highest income per capita. The EU has given a lot more than 40billion, many of our roads wouldn't exsist if it wasn't for them. The like of Germany, France and the UK are getting fucked over by them, but we are not we are reaping the benefits.
